The dark creatures slowly climbed out of the giant pit.
Their purple eyes glowed in the darkness.
The temple floor shook beneath Rahim, Karim, and Farid.
Karim stepped back nervously.
"I have a very bad feeling about this."
Farid tightened his grip on his knife.
"Stay focused. These creatures are not normal."
Rahim raised the crystal.
Its blue light pushed back some of the darkness.
The Shadow Keeper stood silently at the far end of the temple.
Watching.
Waiting.
Suddenly, one of the dark creatures jumped toward them.
Rahim quickly raised the crystal.
A burst of blue light hit the creature.
It let out a terrible scream and disappeared into smoke.
Karim smiled.
"Good. At least the crystal still works."
But then more creatures climbed from the pit.
Ten.
Twenty.
Even more.
Farid's face became serious.
"There are too many."
The creatures slowly surrounded them.
Karim whispered,
"Now what?"
Rahim looked around quickly.
Then he noticed something.
The crystal was pointing toward three glowing symbols on the temple walls.
"Look!" he shouted.
Farid turned.
The symbols were glowing brighter and brighter.
The Shadow Keeper finally spoke.
"To claim the final key, you must pass the Final Trial."
The dark figure raised its hand.
The three glowing symbols lit up completely.
Above them appeared three words:
Truth. Courage. Sacrifice.
Karim looked confused.
"What does that mean?"
Farid replied,
"These are the three qualities of a true guardian."
The dark creatures stopped moving.
Everything became silent.
Then suddenly—
The temple disappeared.
Rahim blinked.
The giant hall was gone.
The creatures were gone.
Even Karim and Farid were gone.
Rahim found himself standing alone.
"What happened?"
A voice echoed around him.
"Face the truth."
Suddenly, scenes from his past appeared around him.
He saw the day he found the old stone.
He saw every choice he had made.
Then he saw something else.
A vision of the future.
A city destroyed by darkness.
People running in fear.
The Final Gate standing open.
Rahim felt cold.
The voice spoke again.
"If you fail, this future will become real."
Rahim clenched his fists.
"I won't fail."
The vision slowly disappeared.
A bright light appeared before him.
Then—
He was back inside the temple.
Karim and Farid stood beside him again.
Karim looked shaken.
"You saw it too?"
Rahim nodded.
"Yes."
Farid looked serious.
"The Trial of Truth."
Before they could say more, the temple changed again.
This time, they stood on a narrow stone bridge above a bottomless abyss.
Strong winds pushed against them.
The voice returned.
"Face your courage."
Karim looked down.
The abyss seemed endless.
His face turned pale.
"Nope. I don't like this."
The bridge suddenly began breaking apart.
Stone pieces fell into the darkness below.
Rahim shouted,
"Run!"
All three started running.
The bridge cracked behind them.
The abyss roared beneath them.
Karim nearly slipped but kept moving.
Farid shouted,
"Keep going!"
Finally, they jumped onto solid ground.
The broken bridge disappeared behind them.
The voice spoke again.
"Courage proven."
Karim fell to the floor.
"I never want to see another bridge again."
Even Rahim laughed.
But the final test was still waiting.
The temple grew silent.
Then a glowing platform appeared.
On it floated the final key.
A beautiful black key surrounded by purple light.
The Shadow Key.
Karim smiled.
"We found it!"
Rahim stepped forward.
But suddenly—
The Shadow Keeper appeared directly in front of the key.
Its purple eyes glowed brightly.
"The final trial remains."
Farid looked serious.
"What trial?"
The Shadow Keeper pointed toward the key.
"To claim the key, one must sacrifice something valuable."
The room became silent.
Karim whispered,
"Sacrifice?"
The Shadow Keeper nodded.
"Every guardian must give up something for the greater good."
Rahim looked at the key.
Then at the crystal in his hand.
Suddenly, the crystal began glowing brightly.
The Shadow Keeper stared at it.
"The crystal knows the answer."
Rahim felt a strange energy moving through him.
He realized something important.
The crystal was not meant to stay with him forever.
To unlock the Shadow Key, he would have to give up the crystal itself.
Karim looked shocked when Rahim explained.
"No! We need the crystal!"
Farid also looked surprised.
"The crystal has protected us since the beginning."
Rahim looked at both of them.
Then he looked at the floating key.
"The world is more important."
The crystal glowed warmly in his hands.
Almost as if it understood.
Rahim slowly stepped forward.
The final choice stood before him.
