Man-man nods and so Skin take that as a sign to let him see her face. With that, she removes her hands from her face very slowly. What he saw didn't really phase him much.
Skin's teeth were broken, right cheek torn apart, blood flowing from her mouth, nose and eyes, her lower jaw looked a little moved from its natural position and there are marks of getting hit with that mace weapon. It is fair to say that her battle with Midori really messed her up.
But regardless of that she is blushing and being shy about it. Any ordinary person would be crying with pain. However, for a Chosen these things aren't much trouble. Or she just has an extreme pain tolerance.
Man-man just stares at her with no real thought in his mind. He doesn't know what to think.
Her injuries won't reduce her combat power. She can still fight with those injuries and doesn't look like it can limit her capabilities.
Man-man also can't understand anything else of these injuries. He would say that she got lucky. If it were her limbs then it would've been really inconvenient. But would also mean he would be able to run away. But that didn't happen so why think of different possibilities?
So, Man-man replies to her question.
"Your injuries won't reduce your combat prowess. Your ability to fight hasn't decreased."
A wide smile creeps on Skin's face and she lunges at Man-man. He doesn't even get a chance to react. Now she is on top of him again and she connects her broken lips with his lips.
She kisses him.
He can taste her blood that is pouring into his mouth. Inside of her mouth is even more damaged to a significant degree. Man-man remembers his last kiss and he can make out the differences quite clearly.
They never had lips that weren't torn apart. But now, her burnt flesh has almost torn up from her own and entered his mouth. He can literally taste her flesh. Even shards of broken teeth that are entering into his throat and hurt him a little.
There are few of his own broken teeth shards too. She crashed into him with full force so something had to break. He is just happy it wasn't his already broken bones. Teeth are fine. Chosen don't usually use them anyways.
It isn't a normal kiss. It is gross and may look disgusting but Skin can't care less. She is getting her prize after dealing with Midori.
Finally, after five minutes of assaulting Man-man's mouth. She let go of his face and let him breathe.
Man-man dark black eyes meet Skin's eyes. There is so much burning passion in her eyes and none in the eyes of Man-man. Both looks so different from each other.
Skin speak while licking her blood.
"Did you say something? I didn't hear it? I got too excited when you spoke."
Her smile is bright and she looks quite happy. Man-man fails to understand that and just focuses on a different detail.
She was hit was that mace, a frozen blessing. It seemed to have marked her on the face or something. Not a proper mark though, just hurt or a hit.
So perhaps, getting hit is what triggers the puppeteering process on a Chosen.
If getting hit by that weapon makes you a puppet then why she hasn't turned in one yet? Is it a time limit? Will she turn after an hour or a day?
Louis was hit on the chest. But he got free. Skin's polearm hit him in the chest. Man-man thinks that her polearm damaged the mace's mark that was located in the chest. So perhaps, if the mark is damaged that the puppet trance is broken.
But there could be another reason. A Chosen is a rebellious creature so making them a puppet is difficult. Sooner or later, they will be released from that puppet trance. There may not be any reason for Louis to come to his senses. It is all speculations on Man-man's part with the information he is provided.
Skin is very rebellious and strong. Her nature may have protected her from turning into a half dead puppet. Could she have turned into a puppet if the fight didn't end? Maybe not, Midori is cunning. She knows when to give up on a pointless battle. She must have gathered that turning Skin into a puppet is too much effort.
Man-man thinks of more theories while Skin just stares at him.
"You are so cute, Man-man. Maybe stop being cute and then I'll stop kissing you so violently."
Man-man thoughts are disturbed again by the face in front of him. Skin's face looks pretty unsymmetrical now. Her burnt face was never perfectly symmetrical but now it is even worse.
Could you call an unsymmetrical face to be ugly? He isn't sure. It is all so strange and meaningless.
Man-man touches her face with his hands. Skin let him do that without much resistance. Is he going to kiss her back? That thought sure makes Skin happy. But that doesn't happen.
Instead, her torn off flesh and teeth find their original place. They're changing shape because of his blessing.
Skin is disappointed but she still likes it. This is a soothing feeling to be reshaped back. Not really, It is actually extremely painful but what is pain for a Chosen? Their whole life is just pain.
In few seconds, her face looks like before. There is still blood and signs of torn off flesh but it is better then before. Her jaw is even fixed back to it original place. How was she talking with that broken part?
Now there is only silence between the too. Man-man is trying to understand what is beauty or symmetry and Skin is just staring at him with her bright red eyes.
"Sorry for disturbing your intimate time. But I am just feeling awkward laying here and just watching."
Skin's aura changes in seconds and she is ready to attack Louis. It doesn't take any time for her to change. She is ready to kill her enemy.
"Skin. That Chosen isn't a puppet. We should ask him about the mountain soul."
Skin questions herself about what is even a mountain soul. But then she remembers their primary goal. To kill that Mountainous sinned soul.
She had totally forgotten that. Well, now that she remembers it again. She is pretty happy. She never remembers small things like that. It always slips her mind.
Skin gets off Man-man and moves to meet this new character.
"Hello, now-not-puppet. It is nice to meet you."
Louis smiles innocently. He is so unaware of the fact that he was so closed to dying right here right now. He should thank Man-man but he is unaware of that fact so he won't.
"It is nice to meet you lady. I am Louis. I would shake your kind hands but my hands aren't really moving right now. But don't worry, I am really hard to kill so I won't die. It is fine though. My body will move. Soon. Or maybe later. I am not sure. Well, we can worry about that later. Do you want to tell me what is your nice name?"
Skin doesn't like people who talk too much so she grabs her polearm (Dicky) and is ready to kill this annoying man.
'Why do people talk so much?'
But before that, Man-man get between her and Louis and ask him about the Mountain sinned soul.
"I don't know why nobody wants to tell me their names. First this guy and now you. I am sad. And what about the mountain soul? I remember it. I even fought with it. I think the every chosen in hell fought against it. That fight was crazy but I didn't die because I am hard to kill, you see. I also know a Chosen who can see that mountainous sinned soul. We can surely find it and kill the rest of it. That would be legendary. Three Chosen working together. I can't even believe my own tongue. Can you believe the words that are coming from my tongue. Or maybe I should say mouth. I am not sure about,…"
Skin and Man-man finally got a lead to find their target. But they have to get help from this half dead man who is so annoying. Skin doesn't want Man-man to carry him as he is hers and she would never let anyone touch him. She also doesn't want to carry this Louis fella as he is annoying.
What to do? Also, he isn't stopping. How much a man can talk?
"…as I am very hard to kill. By the way, did you know I was born just as a head without a body? My mom sure was scared. But don't worry I grew a whole body later in a week. Yup, you heard me right. I can't die unless someone crush my skull into pieces. I can be beheaded and still grow back this whole body. Ha ha. But I don't like doing it as it is very inconvenient. Growing a whole body takes a week you know."
Skin looks at the man and doubts whatever he is saying. But if it is true…
"You mean you won't die if your head is removed from your body?"
Louis answers.
"Yup, isn't that a crazy blessing? As long as my head is safe. My body will just grow back. I know I am super cool. My currently situation will be resolved in a day so I hope you don't mind protecting me from other Chosen and sinned souls. Until my body is fully restored."
Skin smiles, louis smiles and Man-man just sighs in his mind. This man has no breaks or self-preservation skills. Has nobody ever told him to ever shut up?
Skin picks her polearm (Dicky) up and behead Louis in a single strike. It was so smooth. Louis doesn't even understand what happened for few seconds.
But later, he does and then he panics. His beheaded head panics.
"Huh, Wait what? My body… it was my favorite body. WHAT? WHY?"
Skin picks him and speaks.
"Let's go and meet that chosen. We just need direction. Your body is useless to me. Also, my name is Skin and his name is Man-man. Stay away from him or this head of yours will be in pieces."
Louis can't make sense of it. How did they know that his blessing makes it so that beheading him won't kill him?
Then he realizes that he was the one who told them that. So, for his beheading. He is at fault. Maybe next time, he will think before opening his mouth to some strangers.
Now a woman, a man and a quarter of a man walks through hell in their journey to kill that big mountainous sinned soul.
