For a second, Camille forgot how to breathe.
The world narrowed to the doorway.
To the face standing there.
Familiar.
Impossible.
"Elena…?" Her voice came out barely above a whisper.
Her cousin smiled like nothing had ever happened like she hadn't shattered Camille's life piece by piece.
"Wow," Elena said lightly, stepping into the room as if she belonged there. "That's the welcome I get? After everything?"
Camille's fingers tightened unconsciously around Dante's sleeve.
This wasn't just bad.
This was wrong.
Everything about it felt wrong.
Dante's grip on Camille's hand shifted firmer now, grounding, anchoring her.
His voice dropped, low and dangerous. "You shouldn't be here."
Elena's gaze slid to him, amused. "And yet… here I am."
Behind her, men in dark suits filled the doorway different from the attackers. Cleaner. Controlled. Organized.
Not chaos.
Authority.
Camille's heartbeat stuttered. "You brought them here?"
