Nobody moved.
Nobody breathed.
Camille stared at Dante's father while her pulse pounded violently in her ears.
"What?"
The word came out weaker than she intended.
The Architect looked at her calmly despite Dante still holding him against the wall by his collar.
No panic. No fear.
Just cold observation.
Dante's expression had changed instantly.
Not anger this time.
Shock.
Real shock.
Camille saw it immediately.
"You know what he means."
It wasn't a question.
Dante's jaw tightened hard.
The Architect smiled faintly.
"Interesting. You never told her."
Camille slowly looked toward Dante.
"What is he talking about?"
Silence.
Heavy silence.
Then Dante released his father abruptly like the contact itself disgusted him.
The Architect straightened his coat smoothly afterward as though he hadn't just been slammed into concrete twice.
Camille hated him immediately for that composure alone.
Elena looked deeply uncomfortable now.
Which terrified Camille even more.
