Chapter 204 - Chapter 204: The First Battlefield!

Boom!

As a brilliant golden light ignited in the center of the battlefield, almost everyone instinctively drew back, a tacit understanding shared by both sides.

That space belonged to Rennala and her peers—a battlefield reserved exclusively for demigods!

Almost the instant the fighting commenced, Rennala thrust her staff into the earth. Upon contact, a powerful shockwave erupted, violently repelling the surrounding Golden Order forces.

Radagon and Messmer raised their arms to shield themselves from the gale-force impact. Aside from the pushback, however, the blast dealt no true damage.

But just as they began to wonder at the move, a massive shadow suddenly loomed over them, blotting out the sky.

"Fight for me, ally of the dragons!"

"ROAR!!!"

Accompanied by a deafening cry that shook the entire field, a spectral dragon nearly fifty meters long manifested. It opened its maw, spewing torrents of orange-red dragonfire across the area.

"Stop right there!"

With a thunderous shout, a heroic figure from the Golden Order army—one who hadn't been part of the initial parley—charged forward. He raised a massive Greatshield, which transformed into a towering golden wall, absorbing the brunt of the dragon's flames.

Rennala and Rellana used the distraction to put distance between themselves and their opponents.

Before the Golden Order duo could react, Rennala raised her scepter again. Countless tiny blue stars condensed into streaks of light, screaming through the air toward Radagon and Messmer.

Realizing he would lose the initiative entirely if he didn't counterattack, Radagon slammed a fist into the ground.

A surge of holy power rippled through the earth. Golden light erupted from the cracks in the shattered soil, soaring upward to intercept and dissolve Rennala's sorceries.

Messmer took advantage of the golden shroud, kicking off the ground with an explosive burst of speed. His spear, wreathed in roaring flames, lunged straight for Rennala.

But before he could close the gap, Rellana intercepted him, unleashing two arcs of terrifying magic sword-beams that forced him back.

Radagon took to the air, condensing a golden spear of light in his hand—the same holy projectile he had used before.

The spear struck the ground like a falling star, piercing through air and soil alike. Violent golden light once again saturated the battlefield. In the wake of the explosion, Radagon's silhouette reappeared, having successfully closed the distance to Rennala.

Faced with Radagon's proximity, Rennala's expression didn't flicker.

She simply swept her staff to the right. In an instant, two white spirits materialized and lunged at Radagon like blurs.

The sudden assault forced Radagon to halt his momentum. He swung his Golden Order Greatsword to parry the strikes.

Clang!

Only after knocking the two figures back did he see his attackers: the spirit of a Carian Knight and the spirit of a Bloodhound Knight.

Before Radagon could follow up, the Bloodhound Knight vanished into the shadows of the uneven terrain, moving without a sound.

Relying on sheer combat instinct, Radagon whipped his greatsword behind him.

Thud!

The force of the impact made him stumble, but he countered instantly. A golden sword-beam slashed backward, catching the Bloodhound Knight mid-lunge and severing one of its spectral arms.

At that moment, the Carian Knight spirit executed a Carian Piercer. A blade of blue light lunged straight for the space between Radagon's eyes.

"Golden Retaliation!"

A golden sigil swallowed the magical blade whole, instantly converting it into a golden missile that obliterated the Carian Knight's form.

Having cleared the spirits, Radagon prepared to face Rennala again, but a sudden, overwhelming sense of dread washed over him.

He looked up to see a silver Full Moon hanging in his vision—far more terrifying than the one she had manifested earlier.

Sensing disaster, Radagon prepared to turn into golden light to dodge.

However, a split second later, a torrent of teal energy—a Comet Azur—blasted toward him, reaching him in the blink of an eye.

Boom!

Left with no other choice, Radagon threw up both hands, using Golden Retaliation with everything he had to absorb Rennala's onslaught.

While Radagon struggled in a dire situation, the fight between Rellana and Messmer was much more evenly matched.

On one side, the attacks flowed like water, continuous and graceful, yet hiding lethal strikes in every movement. On the other, the spear-strikes were as fierce as a raging fire, every lunge dripping with ferocity and murderous intent.

Noticing that Rennala had the upper hand, Rellana felt a brief moment of relief, but something felt off.

Messmer's expression was far too calm. He looked as though he held a trump card.

"Your commander is about to fall."

Clang!

As their weapons clashed once more, Rellana spoke coldly, her eyes fixed on Messmer.

"If you believe Lord Radagon is limited to only this, then I'm afraid you have vastly underestimated the strength of the Golden Order's champion."

Rellana's heart sank. She knew it wouldn't be that simple. She realized that perhaps she was the one who needed to break the stalemate here.

Bang!

"Hmm?"

Feeling a sudden explosion of power from Rellana, Messmer immediately backed off, looking at her with confusion.

The aura Rellana gave off had changed completely. She felt... stronger?

Rellana took a deep breath and slowly crossed her twin blades. The next second, blue and red light saturated the steel.

A massive ring of fire erupted, accompanied by a surge of magic power. A firestorm, fueled by sorcery, swept across the area, consuming everything in its path.

As the flames cleared, Rellana stood revealed. Her twin swords—one blue, one red—symbolized the union of Moon and Fire from the era of the ancient astrologers!

Messmer's expression finally turned grim. He knew she was prepared to risk everything.

As for him... he couldn't do that yet. This was going to be difficult.

As expected, Rellana moved with several times her previous speed, appearing before him in a flash. Her twin blades descended in a flurry.

The sheer force of her strikes made Messmer's arms tremble as he gripped his spear, to say nothing of the magical pressure and the surging flames. These were flames born of sorcery; though his resistance to fire was exceptionally high, it didn't mean he was immune—especially not to magical fire.

BOOM!

Suddenly, a massive explosion rocked the entire battlefield, originating from where Radagon and Rennala were fighting.

The various heroes of Caria and the Golden Order stopped their duels to look over.

They saw Radagon with his armor shattered, blood trickling from the corner of his eye. Rennala stood at a distance, looking down at him with cold indifference.

The Carian forces erupted in cheers, their morale soaring.

But before they could celebrate, Radagon exploded with a blinding golden light. A massive Golden Order sigil rose from beneath his feet.

Radagon reached toward the sky, and a golden warhammer—the Golden Hammer—slowly materialized in his grip.

"The Golden Order shall shine through my hands!"

Flash!

A massive pillar of golden light descended from the heavens. The Blessing of the Erdtree instantly washed over almost every Golden Order soldier on the field. Their wounds knit shut; their negative emotions were suppressed.

Radagon cast off the remnants of his armor, revealing a powerful, stone-sculpted physique. His crimson hair fluttered in the golden light, and his eyes glowed with a piercing radiance.

In the next heartbeat, Radagon crossed the hundred-meter gap between him and Rennala. The Golden Hammer came crashing down.

A mountainous force swept across the ground, and golden light surged into the earth.

Boom!

The holy power transformed into lines of light that acted like tectonic fissures, instantly detonating the ground upward.

Rennala's figure flew out from the smoke. Though there were no obvious wounds on her body, her disheveled state and the trace of blood at the corner of her mouth told a single story: the Queen of Caria, Rennala of the Full Moon... was injured!

"Sister!!"

Seeing Rennala hurt, Rellana lost her composure. Her twin blades carved out arc after arc of terrifying sword-beams as she took to the air, condensing two spectral moons.

While Messmer was occupied with the twin moons, Rellana turned into a blur, rushing toward Rennala's side.

As the fight between the leaders reached a fever pitch, the rest of the battlefield followed suit.

Massive Golem arrows rained down, kicking up clouds of dust and crushing the bodies of soldiers. Great Golem Halberds swung through the ranks. On the Carian side, Laser Golems flickered with magical energy, carving through the opposition. Meanwhile, Golems were being toppled one by one, turning into massive piles of rubble.

"ROAR—"

With a long, mournful cry, a Carian Troll fell, covered in blood, to its eternal sleep upon this land.

In the midst of the chaos, Mohg was observing the scene while dueling his own opponent.

His foe was a hero known as "The Rock Spear." Mohg felt he had a strange affinity for fighting earth-aspected heroes.

Rock Spear noticed Mohg's lack of focus and grew furious. To be ignored in the middle of a life-and-death struggle was the ultimate insult.

He rampaged, increasing the pressure on Mohg, leaving bloody gashes on Mohg's body and nearly piercing his kidney.

The reason for Mohg's distraction? He was monitoring the intensity of the war and the battle near Radagon.

The power of blood required time to settle and accumulate. He was waiting for the perfect moment.

Clang!

Mohg parried another thrust from Rock Spear, twisted his hips, and swung his spear-sword with the full force of his core.

Bang!

Rock Spear, who had been on the offensive and hadn't expected a counter, was caught off guard. He managed to block with his spear, but the sheer force sent him tumbling. He rolled twice before scrambling to his feet, looking quite disheveled.

"Bastard!"

Rock Spear roared in anger. He thrust his spear into the ground, causing countless rock shards to coat the weapon. A moment later, wreathed in golden light, he leaped into the air.

Mohg finally turned his full attention to the man, looking up.

Rock Spear descended like a meteor.

Boom!

Upon impact, countless rock spikes erupted from the ground along with a shockwave. The high heat of the golden light turned the rocks glowing red.

However, from the center of the impact, the sound of steam—of water meeting fire—hissed out. Mohg had used his staff to cast Freezing Mist, dispersing the heat and using his spear-sword to shatter the rising spikes.

Seeing this, Rock Spear lunged again, gripping his spear tight.

Realizing that this man had no intention of "slacking off" like he did, Mohg sighed. He leaped forward, kicking a rock spike mid-air.

Hah!

Bang!

Rock Spear shattered the incoming spike with his weapon, his eyes narrowing as he stomped his left foot.

The ground shattered. Mohg, momentarily caught off balance, tilted to the side. Rock Spear's weapon lunged out like a dragon.

Puchi—!

The sound of flesh being pierced filled the air, and a smirk played across Rock Spear's lips.

"Heh. Arrogance always leads to a bad end!"

"I quite agree."

Hearing a man's voice come from directly in front of him, Rock Spear froze. Just as he realized something was wrong and tried to pull his spear back, a spark of fire appeared in his vision.

A figure burst through the rising dust.

A cold glint obscured his sight in the next instant.

It was... his own spearhead!

"ARRRRGH!!!!"

The spearhead pierced through his helmet and into his eye socket. The excruciating pain and sudden darkness forced a scream of agony from Rock Spear's throat.

Before he could finish his cry, Mohg raised his weapon to finish the job.

Suddenly, another figure intercepted the strike, using a Tower Shield to block Mohg's attack.

It was a fully armored Leyndell Knight, bearing the crest of the Dane family! Not every Leyndell Knight was prestigious enough to be favored by the great noble houses.

Mohg retreated to dodge a counter-slash and narrowed his eyes at the newcomer.

"Lord Rock Spear, are you alright?"

"I'm not dead yet. Kill him!"

Rock Spear gritted his teeth and pulled the spearhead from his eye socket with a grunt, glaring at Mohg with his one remaining eye.

"This is getting troublesome..." Mohg whispered to himself, bracing for a two-on-one fight.

But at that exact moment, another incredibly powerful surge of energy rippled across the entire battlefield before falling silent just as quickly.

Instantly, Mohg's eyes lit up. The thick, metallic scent of blood filled his nostrils.

The time had come. The sacrifices were sufficient!

"Now... it's my turn to take the stage!"
