Nedan clutched the bleeding wound on his stomach, blood gushing in buckets filling up the ground beneath him.
On his face was a storm of emotions, he felt shock, numb even he couldn't believe the series of events that had happened.
He felt himself drowning in disbelief.... the very people he had trusted had ultimately betrayed him and left him for death.
But it couldn't be said to be surprising, he could only blame his naivety.
Ever since the great cataclysm started and countless beings all over the world started to mutate into giant monsters with some humans even awakening abilities and powers.
It was quite naive of him to think that their relationship could survive all this and remain strong.
In this changed world where everyone valued survival more than anything it was quite normal for friends or lovers to betray each other, more infact with him being a non awakened in the group it was expected for them to betray him when they faced life threatening danger.
'SHRIEK' A loud shriek reverberated not far from him and he knew the fate that would follow.
Nedan let out a deep sigh as he resolved himself, if there was a chance for survival he would surely take it and make them pay but right now death was inevitable.
Nedan lowered his head and accepted death.
Unbeckwonst to him the giant wound on his stomach that had been gushing blood was now slowly closing as golden veins surrounded it.
This was a sign that he had finally awakened but now it was useless he was going to die....or not.
Seconds later the source of the loud shriek finally revealed itself.
It was a giant ant the size of a wild buffalo clad in dark iron looking exoskeleton.
The giant ant lifted its body and a harsh "KRRRRR–KRRR–KRRR" vibrated from its abdomen. Its mandibles snapped with a brutal CLACK! CLACK!, echoing like bone breaking in the silence.
Nedan was brutally bitten in half, his consciousness disappearing faster than the pain could ravage him.
He was unceremoniously picked up his torso cut in half with his bones barely holding the two parts together.
From there Nedan's body was brought over to the ants nest to be used as ant food.
The place Nedan was, was known as Blue fang settlement, a satellite town of the Pearl city runned by the Blue fang guild.
Ever since the cataclysm happened humans banded themselves in cities seeking protection from powerful awakened organisations.
But with populations rising in these cities also did the rifts in society.
The more important and rich people were placed in the comfortable and high security cities while the less fortunate were pushed to the satelite towns and cities with minimal protection.
A harsh world in deed...so when danger finally came there was no one to help them and everyone had to fend for themselves.
~QUEEN'S CHAMBER~
The Chamber was a giant underground cave the size of a basketball field, at it center the queen, a giant ant with an oversized abdomen its size equal to a small truck.
It eyed the various food its workers had brought it countless humans and mutant animals bodies but its eyed got glued to a particular delicacy, Nedan's body.
There was an inexplainable delicious aroma wafting from it that drove the ant's queen instincts crazy.
The ant queen quickly scooped Nedan's body and swallowed it whole without living a single thing.
Maybe it was the aroma of an awakened human or something else, the queen with its minimal mutant intelligence knew instinctively that eating the human would grant it unimaginable power and strength.
And she was right but not the way her instincts predicted or was it.
After swallowing the human the queen started feeling immediate changes in her body.
A sharp pain tore through her body and the queen let out a high pitched shriek that could make countless creatures break down in cold sweat.
Golden veins started appearing all over her body as an unbearable heat slowly rose in its abdomen.
The pain was so much that the queen lost consciousness.
~THE QUEEN'S BODY~
Nedan's cells, which now had a golden hue, could be seen quicky infiltrating the queen's body.
The queen's mutant body tried very much to protect itself but it wasn't a march to Nedan's awakened cells.
In under seconds the golden cells as if with a brain of itself infiltrated the queen's whole body and started altering her genetic make up.
Its seems the golden cells had given up on the former body and were venturing on a new path.
Outside, the queen's body which was now golden in colour started releasing a golden pheromone that completely took over the whole nest.
Any ant that came into contact with this pheromone their bodies would start to mutate into a powerful mutant humanoid ant with a single goal to feed and protect the ant queen with their lives.
It seems the goal of the golden cells to be achieved it required countless organic minerals and of high quality.
For weeks to come humanoid ants ravaged through forests attacking countless mutant animals and avoiding potential dangers like a coordinated group.
With all this ending up in the queen's chamber.
~SIX MONTHS LATER~
The queen's chamber, after six months the infiltrated queen had undergone many changes with most of them being minimal changes like increase in size to colour change but the greatest change could be said to be high intelligence hidden deep in the queen's eyes.
Next to the queen's chamber was another chamber, a smaller one, with a single object rested on a soft cushioned surface. A translucent golden cacoon with a humanoid looking creature inside it.
