Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : The beginning

A lonely road cut through the remote Spanish countryside, surrounded by thick forests and cold gray skies. A police car slowly rolled along the dirt path, its tires crunching against the gravel.

Inside the vehicle sat Leon S. Kennedy, quietly observing the gloomy scenery outside the window.

Two local Spanish officers were with him.

One of them glanced back at Leon through the rearview mirror.

"So… what exactly brings you to this godforsaken place?"

Leon leaned back in his seat, his expression calm.

"I just wanted to visit Spain," he replied casually.

"See the countryside… enjoy the scenery."

The second officer burst out laughing.

"Hahaha! You came all the way to this miserable village to admire the scenery?"

Leon simply smiled faintly but said nothing.

A few minutes later, the car slowed to a stop near the entrance of a silent village.

The wooden houses looked old and abandoned. Fog drifted slowly between the buildings like a ghost wandering through forgotten streets.

The first officer stepped out of the car.

"Hold on a minute. I need to take a leak."

He walked toward the trees and disappeared.

Minutes passed.

Then more minutes.

Leon checked his watch.

Still nothing.

The second officer frowned.

"What's taking him so long?"

He stepped out of the car.

"I'll go check."

He disappeared into the forest as well.

Silence returned.

Leon exhaled slowly.

"…This doesn't feel right."

After waiting a few more minutes, he finally opened the car door.

"Guess I'll take a look myself."

Leon walked toward the village.

The air felt heavy… almost suffocating.

As he approached one of the houses, he noticed a small, worn-down cabin standing alone near the edge of the forest.

The wooden walls were cracked. The door hung slightly open.

Leon carefully pushed it open.

The inside smelled of dust and rot.

"What is this place…?"

"Did animals move in here or something?"

Then he saw him.

An old man stood near the table with his back turned.

Leon raised a hand politely.

"Excuse me, sir."

"Have you seen two police officers around here?"

The man slowly turned his head.

But he said nothing.

He just stared.

His eyes were dull. Empty.

Leon felt a strange chill run down his spine.

"…Sir?"

Leon stepped closer.

Suddenly—

The man let out a guttural roar and lunged forward with an axe raised above his head.

Leon's instincts reacted instantly.

He ducked under the swing as the axe slammed into the wooden wall with a loud crack.

"Whoa!"

The man swung again wildly.

Leon twisted his body to the side, grabbed the man's arm, and slammed him hard against the table.

With a swift strike, he knocked him unconscious.

The room fell silent again.

Leon rubbed his shoulder.

"What the hell is wrong with these people…?"

As he looked around the cabin, he noticed a key on the floor beside a locked hatch.

He picked it up.

"Well… looks like we're going underground."

Leon unlocked the hatch and climbed down the wooden ladder into a dark cellar.

The air was cold.

Rotten.

And then he saw it.

A body lying on the ground.

Leon rushed forward.

It was one of the officers.

Dead.

His police badge lay beside him.

Leon clenched his fist.

"Damn it…"

Suddenly—

A creaking sound echoed behind him.

Leon slowly turned around.

The man from upstairs stood at the top of the stairs again.

But now his body moved unnaturally.

His neck twisted at an impossible angle.

His eyes were lifeless.

Like something else controlled him.

"…You've got to be kidding me."

The creature staggered toward him with jerky movements.

Leon drew his pistol.

"Alright."

"Come on then."

The creature suddenly charged.

Leon fired.

BANG!

The bullet tore through its chest.

The creature collapsed violently onto the floor.

Leon lowered his gun slowly.

"…This place just keeps getting better."

He looked toward the distant village.

"Well… guess that's where the real trouble is."

Meanwhile…

On a hill overlooking the village stood two figures watching everything from afar.

One was a woman in a red dress, her posture elegant yet dangerous.

Ada Wong.

Beside her stood a tall man wearing dark sunglasses and a long coat. A sleek sword rested at his waist.

Mark Wong.

Ada crossed her arms in annoyance.

"Damn you, Wesker…"

"Why did I agree to bring my idiot brother along?"

Mark laughed loudly.

"Haha! What's wrong? Were you planning to have all the fun by yourself?"

Ada shot him a cold glare.

"I'm here to work."

"Not to have fun."

Mark shrugged.

"Fine, fine."

"So what's the mission?"

Ada activated a holographic map on her wrist device.

"We're here to obtain a sample of the Las Plagas parasite."

"It's currently held by a man named Luis Serra."

"But he wants something in return."

Mark raised an eyebrow.

"Let me guess… rescue mission?"

Ada nodded.

"He wants us to get him out of here."

Mark stretched his arms.

"Sounds easy."

"So where is he?"

Ada checked the map again.

"He's being held in the church near the lake."

"But the area is crowded with villagers."

"We'll have to infiltrate quietly."

Mark smirked.

"Ada… I don't do stealth."

"I walk through the front door."

Ada's voice turned ice cold.

"This is my mission."

"You either follow my orders… or go home."

Mark sighed dramatically.

"Alright, boss."

As Ada looked toward the village, a memory surfaced in her mind.

Flames.

Chaos.

The nightmare of the Raccoon City Incident.

And the young officer who saved her life.

A faint smile appeared on her lips.

Mark nearly choked.

"Wait… did Ada Wong just smile?"

"That's rare."

Ada immediately returned to her cold expression.

"It's nothing."

Then she added quietly.

"There's another person here."

Mark tilted his head.

"Who?"

Ada answered calmly.

Leon S. Kennedy
