Chapter 1 - Daily life

In a quiet alleyway, two men—each with a huge body—had the appearance of common junkies.

They pinned a lady against a wall. The lady wore a long brown dress which brought out her curves; she had long blonde hair which went well with her dress.

The two junkies looked at her, their eyes holding immense lust. The girl was fidgeting, trying to break free from her predicament, but it was to no avail.

"Stop moving so much," one of the junkies said. As he said this, he slapped the girl's face. Her face turned red from the slap. Tears were falling down from her eyes; however, her tears seemed to arouse the two junkies, as they soon showed perverted smiles with their crotches getting excited.

"Please don't," the woman said, her voice faint and desperate, but this only fueled the junkies.

"Help," she muttered as her dress was being taken off.

"H..help me," she muttered again, her voice more desperate. Her bra was exposed and was being taken off.

"P... please help," she muttered. Her voice was losing its luster; she was slowly losing hope. Her face was being licked as if it were a sweet; this repulsed her greatly.

"Stop," she said, her eyes holding a number of emotions. A hand was touching her where she didn't want it to be.

'Curse this city,' the woman cursed the cruel city she was born in.

Walking on the main road, a boy with a black trench coat and round glasses saw what was happening. A woman was being raped by two junkies, yet he didn't help. It didn't involve him, and he didn't want unnecessary problems. Still, he felt guilty for not doing anything.

He touched his slightly long blonde hair. Behind his round glasses were brown eyes holding immense hatred.

But this hatred was just hatred at the end of it all; it couldn't do anything to anyone. He, himself, knew this well.

"Tch." The boy looked at the people around him; all were turning a blind eye to what was happening.

'Useless pigs.' The boy had a low opinion of the people here—or perhaps people in general.

He placed his hands in his side pockets and walked away.

As he walked, he saw such scenes around him. Most turned a blind eye to this; even policemen seemed to not care much.

The buildings were terribly constructed. Unlike some places which had horse carriages all over, there were no such things here.

The roads were in terrible condition; even the dogs didn't seem to like them.

The boy walked until he saw a run-down apartment. He walked in, skillfully entering his room.

His bed was in a poor state. Cockroaches could be seen moving around, as well as rats.

On a small, run-down table near his bed were three photo frames. Once the boy looked at them, he felt his heart tighten up; it filled him with a complicated feeling.

He looked out a small, run-down window.

'Britannia.'

A place labeled as the largest state in the world, ruled by the Kaiser family.

A place filled with hope and kindness, compassion and kinship; a place where one can join a royal table and fight for their country.

All of that was bullshit at the end of the day. He looked at the city, his eyes holding a dark light in them.

Boom!

A loud noise was soon heard.

"What...?" The boy had lived here for the majority of his life, yet he had never heard such a new sound.

'King Arthur.'

In moments like this, he couldn't help but think of a figure who promised peace and prosperity, yet...

'The only peace here is dead.'

Although the sound was extremely loud, he soon calmed down. Although it was a new experience, he wasn't one to be deeply shocked.

'What could it be now?' Immediately after having this thought, he heard a loud sound.

"Evacuate the area at once!"

It sounded like the local woman who stood at the center post in the city.

It wasn't the first time something like this had happened here; it was an uncommon occurrence, but not rare.

In the four thousandth empire, the Monarch system was introduced and it was ruled by a king whom history books deemed a traitor and exalted to the dark river.

King Arthur's family kills creatures known as demons who need to eat humans to survive. With the help of the classes, the people were able to hold them off, but some demons are still around.

There exist twelve classes, the most common ones being Saber and Archer.

People with classes use a special power called Qi.

King Arthur's family has one of the highest numbers of people who have classes.

Boom!

Just as he was thinking, a loud explosion was heard. It was extremely loud, such that he felt his bones shake.

'It seems to be a powerful demon.'

He didn't think for long as he soon stood up and left his room. He didn't carry anything with him; after all, there wasn't anything of high value.

As he walked, he noticed a staggering amount of people running to a nearby reinforced building to seek shelter; many of the people valued their lives.

The boy also valued his life, but he didn't mind dying. As such, he walked despite most running. The fight was happening a distance away; he would occasionally see something like fireworks in the sky which ranged in different colors. There was an earth-shattering sound; he felt his ears hurt whenever he heard the sound.

Boom!

He soon saw what looked like a black building with no ventilation; it was just a tall, two-story black building.

Standing at the entrance were two men.

They had white trench coats which had a feather-like symbol on their left chest.

He walked up to the two. They both gave him a look once he was close to them and they took out a white sword.

"Touch it."

The one to his left said it. He had a calm but intimidating voice.

The boy didn't raise a scene and grabbed the sword's handle. The handle felt extremely cold; he could feel a strange sensation wash over him once he touched it. Apart from this, nothing happened.

"You may enter," the man said after checking the sword.

The boy walked through the black doors and entered the building. Inside were a large amount of people, some sitting, some standing.

A distance to his left, he saw an attractive woman. He quickly recognized her.

'It's the woman from earlier.'
