Chapter 80 - Chapter 76 : Second House

Keifer's POV

We left fast.

Like no time for emotional goodbyes fast.

Gabriel insisted we go immediately, Jay argued for exactly three seconds, and then somehow we were all in a car heading out of Makati.

Which was already chaotic.

But then—

I noticed the first car behind us.

Then the second.

Same distance.

Same timing.

Not random traffic.

Jay saw it too through the mirror.

Her expression changed instantly.

Gone was the tired girl from the couch.

Now she looked… sharp.

Focused.

Dangerous.

"We're being followed," I said.

Gabriel leaned forward from the backseat like this was a theme park ride.

"OHHH finally."

"I was getting bored."

"Bored?" I turned slightly. "We're being chased."

"Exactly." He smiled. "Now it's fun."

Jay didn't even look back.

Her hands tightened on the steering wheel.

"Seatbelts," she said calmly.

That was it.

No panic.

Just instruction.

Then she floored the accelerator.

The car shot forward like it had been personally insulted.

I immediately grabbed the handle above the door.

"JAY—"

"Relax," she said. "They're slow."

Slow??

The speedometer disagreed violently.

The road blurred.

City lights streaked past like broken lines of color.

Then—

she turned.

Sharp.

Too sharp.

The car drifted slightly before catching grip again.

My entire life flashed briefly in front of my eyes. 😐

Gabriel, meanwhile, was laughing.

"YESSSS THIS IS WHAT I MEAN BY DRAMA!"

I turned back toward him.

"WHY ARE YOU ENJOYING THIS?!"

"Because she drives like she's angry at physics!"

Jay glanced at him through the mirror.

"I can stop the car."

"I respect you deeply," he said immediately.

That's what I thought.

But the two cars behind us weren't stopping.

One of them pulled closer.

Too close.

I saw movement inside.

Jay noticed instantly.

Her eyes narrowed.

Then she suddenly pulled the steering wheel—

"Keifer. Drive."

"What?"

Before I could process—

she leaned slightly back, still controlling speed while reaching into the backseat compartment.

Gabriel opened it like it was completely normal.

"Ah. Finally."

He pulled out a compact firearm.

I froze.

"WAIT—"

"Don't scream," Jay said calmly. "You'll distract me."

Gabriel grinned and tossed another one toward her.

She caught it without even looking.

Like it was routine.

That alone was terrifying.

"You know how to use this?" I asked.

Jay didn't look at me.

"Unfortunately."

Gabriel pointed at me cheerfully.

"Keifer, you look like you're about to faint."

"I AM NOT ABOUT TO FAINT."

The second car swerved closer.

Then—

BANG.

A shot from behind.

The bullet hit the back of the car.

And didn't go through.

Silence.

I blinked.

"…That's bulletproof?"

Gabriel leaned back comfortably.

"Luxury has benefits."

Another shot.

Another impact.

Still nothing.

Jay finally looked at me properly.

"Keifer. Drive."

"I don't know this route."

"It's a straight road for five minutes."

"That is NOT comforting."

Another car tried to block us from the side.

Jay immediately leaned out slightly, firing once.

Clean.

Controlled.

The side mirror of the chasing car shattered.

Gabriel clapped.

"BEAUTIFUL FORM."

I stared at both of them.

"You are both insane."

Jay handed me the steering wheel without hesitation.

"Drive."

I grabbed it quickly.

The moment I took control—

she turned in her seat fully.

Calm.

Focused.

Then started aiming back.

Gabriel did the same from the other side window like this was a coordinated performance.

I was now officially the only normal person in a bulletproof chaos vehicle. 😐

"LEFT LANE," Jay said.

"I KNOW."

"You were drifting."

"I WAS ADJUSTING."

"You were panicking."

"I WAS DRIVING SAFELY."

Gabriel fired again and laughed.

"HE'S PANICKING."

"I HATE BOTH OF YOU."

Jay smirked slightly.

Just slightly.

Then—

another shot from behind hit harder.

The car jolted.

The following vehicle was getting closer again.

Jay's expression sharpened.

"Keifer."

"What."

Her voice dropped slightly.

"Don't slow down."

I tightened my grip.

"…I wasn't planning to."

Gabriel suddenly leaned forward.

"Ohhh they're serious."

Jay didn't respond.

She just aimed carefully.

Then fired.

Perfect timing.

One of the pursuing cars swerved hard, losing control and falling back.

Silence followed for half a second.

Then Gabriel:

"THAT WAS HOT."

I turned sharply.

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!"

Jay didn't even react.

Just reloaded calmly.

"Focus," she said.

But the corner of her mouth lifted slightly.

Like she knew exactly what he meant.

And somehow…

that made the whole situation even worse.

We drove faster.

Rain started lightly again.

The road ahead stretched empty.

And finally—

the chasing cars disappeared in the distance.

Gabriel leaned back satisfied.

"Fun trip."

I stared at him.

Then at Jay.

Then the road.

"…I need a new life."

Jay glanced at me.

Softly amused.

"You're doing fine."

"No I'm not."

Gabriel pointed ahead.

"Turn here. Second house is close."

I exhaled slowly.

Because whatever was waiting at that second house…

I already knew one thing for sure.

Nothing about Jay's life was ever simple. 🚗⚠️
