Later that afternoon Alexander called Emily into his office.
"You're coming with me tonight."
Emily sighed.
"Another fake date?"
Alexander shook his head.
"My family dinner."
Emily nearly choked.
"WHAT?"
Alexander remained calm.
"They want to meet you."
Emily paced around the office.
"This is way too serious!"
Alexander crossed his arms.
"You signed the contract."
Emily groaned.
"I thought it meant dinners and interviews—not family meetings!"
Alexander's voice softened slightly.
"They won't bite."
Emily stopped pacing.
"That's not reassuring."
That evening they arrived at the Knight family mansion.
The house looked more like a palace.
Emily whispered,
"I feel poor just standing here."
Alexander chuckled quietly.
"Relax."
Inside, several people waited.
Alexander's mother.
His younger sister.
And his grandfather.
Everyone looked at Emily with curiosity.
Alexander spoke calmly.
"This is Emily."
His mother smiled politely.
"So you're the girl who stole my son's heart."
Emily almost choked.
Alexander glanced at her.
"Careful. They believe this is real."
Emily forced a smile.
"Nice to meet you."
But the entire dinner felt like a test.
His mother asked many questions.
His sister watched Emily carefully.
And his grandfather simply observed silently.
By the end of the evening Emily felt exhausted.
When they finally left the mansion, she sighed in relief.
"That was terrifying."
Alexander smirked.
"You survived."
Emily glared at him.
"Barely."
