Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Ask her out

That night at Yakiniku Q,

Mikami Yuu's squad ran into a few familiar faces—

Asuma's squad was there too.

In the original story, Asuma, Yūhi Kurenai, and Namiashi Raidō were indeed in the same squad—though canon never mentioned who their jōnin leader was. And given Asuma's status as the Hokage's son, he obviously wouldn't be assigned some random ordinary jōnin.

Now Mikami Yuu finally knew the answer—

Nara Shikaku.

He was one of Konoha's notable jōnin in this era—solid strength, sharp mind, and as the "Deer" head of Ino–Shika–Chō, he had close ties with the Sarutobi clan. A pretty ideal jōnin leader choice.

Minato and Shikaku knew each other, and Mikami Yuu had just had that "graduation dinner" with Asuma and the others not long ago, so the two squads simply pushed tables together and ate as one big group.

During the meal,

Kurenai leaned over curiously and quietly asked Mikami Yuu about his squad; Obito and Asuma traded barbs, each bragging they'd become chūnin—and even Hokage—sooner than the other.

After the gathering, Obito once again invited everyone to go to his house to play cards.

"Uh…"

Rin hesitated. She really had said earlier that after graduation they could go play at Obito's place. She looked at Mikami Yuu and Kakashi. "Yuu-kun, Kakashi-kun, what do you think…"

"Let's go."

Mikami Yuu said.

They were teammates now—he had to give that much face.

With him agreeing, Kakashi grumbled "boring" but still followed, mouth saying no and body saying yes.

As for Minato, he still had to go flirt with the Nine-Tails jinchūriki, so after leaving them with a "have fun," he whoosh—vanished.

On the way to the Uchiha district,

Mikami Yuu slowed his pace a little and walked alongside Kakashi. He glanced at the white-haired boy and asked casually,

"Kakashi—assistant instructor. The sword style you used when training us earlier… was that the Hatake clan's swordsmanship?"

"…Yes."

Kakashi answered tersely.

"It felt really strong. Too bad the spar was so rushed, I didn't see clearly. Want to spar again sometime?"

"Sure."

[Ever since seeing it at the training ground, you've been thinking about Hatake Swordsmanship. So you sought out her household's servant and asked for an introduction. They agreed to your request and promised to bring her out to meet you someday.]

"Nice."

Mikami Yuu nodded with satisfaction: three sentences, and Kakashi offered up "Hatake Swordsmanship" to me.

But…

What is this "household servant" nonsense? In the system's eyes, is Hatake Swordsmanship the real master of the Hatake house, and Kakashi is just a sword rack?

Mikami Yuu didn't dwell on it.

No matter how you counted it, today's haul was already huge: two Fire Style techniques, a sword style basically reserved for future "romance," and Flying Thunder God as a future potential target…

And since Kakashi had all-element affinity—though he specialized in Lightning—he definitely had at least some basic understanding of water and fire too. Maybe later Mikami Yuu could "ask for advice" and steal a few more moves from him.

As long as it entered the romance list, Mikami Yuu would take it— even that 44-hand-seal jutsu!

"…We're here."

Obito's house really was big.

He was an Uchiha, after all. Even though he'd lost his parents and only had his grandmother, the clan's support plus the compensation his parents left behind still let him live more comfortably than most civilians.

It was Mikami Yuu's first time here. From the moment he entered the Uchiha district, he couldn't stop looking around, guessing where Uchiha Madara's White Zetsu might be hiding nearby… Yeah, Zetsu was definitely keeping tabs on the Uchiha—he just wasn't sure whether Obito had already been "selected" yet.

That was one reason Mikami Yuu had resisted entering Minato's squad.

But…

Same old line.

Since he was already here—

If Kakashi could survive, then he could too. A living person couldn't be held in by his own pee.

If he really had to face Madara one day… fine. Bring it on. He was a transmigrator—was he supposed to be scared of some old man pushing eighty?

…Though hopefully there wasn't a White Zetsu watching right now.

There wasn't much to say about the card game.

They played a Japanese-style "Old Maid," and the rules were simple. Even Mikami Yuu, who hadn't played before, picked it up after hearing the explanation once.

After that, they didn't accept Obito's "if you get tired, just sleep here" invitation. When it got late enough, they said goodbye and went home.

Only after washing up and lying in bed

did Mikami Yuu take out the Fire Style: Fire Formation Wall scroll.

"Great Fireball—do you want a gift?"

[Phoenix Sage Fire Jutsu: Wow! Big sis, come look—new clothes!]

[Great Fireball Jutsu: (Tsundere chin raised) Hmph. It's just a defensive skin… looks bulky and dumb, but it's at least practical. Way better than some Clone Technique.]

[Great Fireball Jutsu Affection +9. Current affection: 75/100 (Infatuated)]

(Stage rewards obtained 3 times: Constitution +3; Trait: Spirit of Fire — Your Fire-nature chakra affinity greatly increases. Fire Style ninjutsu power increases by 60% → 120% from its current baseline.)

(Note: This trait can be used under the "Fire Formation Wall" skin.)

Nice, nice, nice.

So Great Fireball's scaling wasn't +30% each time—it doubled each stage! Stage three was already 120%. At max affection it might hit 240%!

Mikami Yuu was pleasantly shocked.

Soon, more text floated up, and a familiar face appeared:

[Clone Technique: !]

[Great Fireball Jutsu: Huh, Clone Technique? How'd you know Mikami just gifted me a skin?]

[Clone Technique: Who asked you?!]

[Transformation Technique: Little Fireball's new outfit really is pretty… looks like it would keep her warm too. Too bad— I was the first one here, but Mikami still hasn't ever given me a gift.]

Mikami Yuu: "…?"

Wait— you're a Transformation Technique. What gift are you even supposed to receive?

Seduction Technique?

Besides, your affection is already maxed. Giving you a gift now would be… a bit wasteful… cough.

So, in the spirit of "treat everyone equally," Mikami Yuu soothed them with lines like "I'll make sure everyone gets clothes to wear someday." Then he closed the text box and lay back down.

"Nice, nice. Great Fireball only needs five more points to level up. Probably just a few more days…"

"As for clearing that 'Kindness Jutsu' nickname… I'll wait. A new team just formed—we should at least take a few days to build cohesion first. But with me and Kakashi in this squad, our combat strength… there's no way we'll still be stuck catching cats, right?"
