With Rhodes' strength, he could have easily resisted Katerea's "suppression," but he was worried such an act might damage the friendship they had just built. Furthermore, Katerea was likely a future Queen or the new Leviathan Demon King—a high-status individual he couldn't afford to offend.
To prevent his family and friends from suffering the consequences of a diplomatic incident, Rhodes chose to endure in silence, stoically bearing this instance of workplace harassment. He lowered his head and closed his eyes. For the sake of the future, this sacrifice was worth it! Moreover, he was sacrificing himself for world peace. Rhodes felt he was the hero of heroes!
Suddenly, he heard the sound of a zipper. He instinctively opened his eyes to find that Katerea's deep-V had transformed into a full reveal.
What followed was a tedious and repetitive plotline that Rhodes knew the readers wouldn't enjoy, so we shall skip those 100,000 words.
...
Late night in the Underworld.
When Rhodes came back to his senses, the sky outside the window had already turned dark. Artificial moonlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains—not a cold white, but a soft purplish-red.
"Has that much time passed?" Rhodes was surprised. He looked at Katerea, who was lying on the office floor like a puddle of melted wax, and a flash of pride crossed his face. "Good thing my technique was superior, or I'd be the one lying there."
Even so, his lower back felt a bit sore. After hundreds of rounds of high-stakes "combat," Katerea had been successfully "defeated" and left pleading for mercy. However, her Leviathan bloodline gave her extraordinary endurance; if Rhodes' body hadn't been enhanced by system quests, he would have surrendered long ago.
Looking back, Rhodes was surprised at how naturally it had happened. In a typical school romance, this would have taken another fifty chapters of pining. Yet this was their first meeting.
He concluded that while devils looked like humans, their values were vastly different. In the original series, Rias had shared a bed with the protagonist almost immediately. If even the "conservative" Rias was like that, one could only imagine how "open" the radical faction was.
The most surprising thing, however, was that despite her incredibly skimpy outfits, Katerea had actually been a virgin. It was a true testament to the saying that "appearances are deceiving."
Suddenly, a voice came from outside.
"Lady Leviathan, Lord Asmodeus has arrived."
Katerea opened her eyes, a look of annoyance crossing her face. She wanted to rest, yet she was being disturbed. "I understand. Tell him to wait. I will be out shortly."
"Yes, my Lady."
The footsteps outside faded. Katerea stood up, and with a surge of mana, a new uniform materialized on her body. "I'm going to see Creereere. Do you want to come?"
"I'll pass. It's better if they don't know I exist."
"Fine." She turned to leave.
"Wait."
"What?"
"Change your clothes."
"Why?" Katerea looked down. She didn't see a problem.
"It's too revealing. I don't like it."
Katerea gave him an odd look. "Revealing? Truly, human values are so different from ours." Despite the comment, she changed into a more conservative outfit right in front of him.
"I'm heading back too." Rhodes felt his household would be getting worried. "Follow the plan strictly. Don't tell a soul, or no one can save you."
Katerea nodded. "Don't worry. I might not like the plan, but I'm not stupid. No one wants to go looking for death." She had lived in humiliation for this long just to reclaim her legitimacy.
"Good." Rhodes was relieved. If she didn't fear death, there was nothing he could do.
...
After parting ways, Rhodes used a teleportation anchor to return to Kuoh Town. The moment he arrived, his phone buzzed with several notifications. He cleared a few spam texts and opened the thread with Jeanne.
The message was simple: She had hidden his whereabouts from Siegfried, arguing that Rhodes was a free agent and even a vice-captain had no right to limit him. She'd had a small argument with Siegfried and ended the message saying she would always believe in him and follow his path as a hero.
Rhodes was baffled. Jeanne's ability to "headcanon" situations was top-tier. She had completely fabricated a narrative that didn't exist. He had only worked with Katerea because a quest popped up. As for being a hero... well, an 'Evil Hero' is still a hero, I guess.
Below Jeanne's message was one from Akeno Himejima. She invited Rhodes to a meal over the weekend to thank him for saving her life.
Rhodes replied with one word: "Okay."
A moment later, Akeno sent a question mark emoji.
"I mean, yes, I'll come."
"That's wonderful! I couldn't get through to you earlier; I thought you might have blocked me. The dinner is set for Saturday night. We will arrange a car to pick you up."
...
Rhodes put his phone away and pushed open the door to his living room. The room was quite lively. Besides the girls who already lived with him, Xenovia and Irina Shidou were there as well.
"You guys haven't gone back yet?" Rhodes asked in surprise.
"Why are you so late? we've been waiting forever!" Xenovia, who was wiping her holy sword with a white cloth, leaned the weapon against the wall and stood up, her tone slightly annoyed.
"I'm annoyed too, meow! These two are eating all my snacks, meow!" Kuroka, currently in Asia's arms, voiced her protest.
