Chapter 124 - Chapter 124: Gabriel

"Boss?"

It took them a second to realize who he meant. Xenovia quickly guessed he was referring to the VIP from Heaven.

"Yes. We got up extra early. But we were told not to call for you until 8:00 AM. Even though the Seraph has already arrived at the church, they insisted on waiting until you had enough sleep."

"That just shows your boss respects me. You two eat my food and stay in my house, yet you still have the nerve to complain about me."

"Hehe, it just shows how close we are as comrades," Irina giggled. "Come on, let's not keep the Seraph waiting. The peace summit is tomorrow, and they went out of their way to find time for this meeting."

Xenovia had a serious expression, which would have been more effective if she had wiped the rice grain off the corner of her mouth first.

Rhode didn't tease them further and quickly drove them toward the church. Kuoh Town wasn't large, and with Rhode's fast driving, they reached the foot of the hill in minutes. After parking, Rhode sensed several hidden presences nearby. Unsurprisingly, they were angels acting as scouts and guards.

Rhode had always wondered: if the person being protected is stronger than the guards, what exactly are the guards protecting? If an enemy stronger than the guards showed up, the VIP would end up having to protect them instead. He eventually concluded that in such cases, the guards were just there for show—to maintain appearances.

The church was just as dilapidated as his last visit. The corpses of the exorcists and Fallen Angels he had killed were gone, likely cleaned up by Rias and her team. However, the church doors were closed. Rhode sensed only one presence inside.

Xenovia and Irina's expressions became profoundly devout and respectful. Rhode didn't hesitate; he walked straight to the doors and pushed them open. Knocking? Not in his vocabulary.

The heavy doors creaked open, revealing a cross that had been broken in half. The wooden pews on either side were rotted and decayed, and the air smelled of mold and dampness. Directly in front of the broken cross, a slender figure was kneeling on the ground, back turned to Rhode.

Six pairs of golden wings illuminated the dark corners of the church, and a gentle power filled every inch of the space. Sensing someone's approach, the kneeling figure slowly stood up. As she rose, golden particles of light scattered with the movement of her wings.

Rhode squinted. A blonde woman in a form-fitting, pure white holy robe turned around slowly.

Whoa! Heavy artillery!

Rhode's eyes instinctively locked onto the woman's chest. His pupils contracted uncontrollably. Rhode considered himself a man of experience who wouldn't be easily dazzled by mere size or shape, but the moment he laid eyes on this female angel, his "pure" heart was gripped by a very "wicked" thought.

"You must be Mr. Rhode, the one Sister Griselda often mentions," the woman said with a kind smile.

She had long, golden hair that fell over her shoulders like the morning sun. Her features were as exquisite as a painting, and her eyes were a clear, pale green, glowing with a holy light. Her long, thick lashes cast soft shadows on her eyelids, and her thin lips curved into a gentle arc. Her skin was so fair it was almost translucent, glowing with a golden sheen without a single blemish.

The pure white robe clung to her body, outlining her soft, flowing curves and a waist that was slender yet not fragile. She radiated a holy and powerful aura, one that was as warm as dawn breaking through clouds, yet carried a slight sense of distance.

Of course, 99% of Rhode's attention was automatically fixed on those two "impressive peaks." Despite being completely covered, he found her far more alluring than Katereia in her "Emperor's New Clothes."

"Lady Gabriel!" Xenovia and Irina immediately dropped to one knee, their faces filled with devotion and awe.

To human believers, the appearance of even a low-level angel was enough to cause overwhelming excitement. This was a Seraph—a being whose status was second only to God.

"Xenovia, Irina, there is no need to kneel. Please, stand up." Gabriel's voice was incredibly soft, carrying a unique power that guided the two girls back to their feet.

Then, her gaze returned to Rhode. Rhode's eyes had drifted slightly downward again; his gaze was still out of his control. Despite wearing sunglasses, Gabriel—as a holy and pure Seraph—could still feel the bold stare hidden behind the lenses. However, she didn't seem displeased. She simply looked at him with an innocent, naive expression.

"It seems you are exactly as Sister Griselda described. Excellent in every regard, except for being... unable to control yourself in certain areas. But that's fine. For a human, having a colorful personality is a good thing." She gave him a radiant smile.

"Ahem." Rhode realized his "sunglasses trick" had been seen right through. But he couldn't help it; his "auto-aim" was a passive skill he couldn't turn off.

"Good morning, Mr. Rhode. I am Gabriel, one of the four Seraphs." Despite realizing Rhode still hadn't looked away, she continued to greet him with a smile. "And Xenovia, Irina, you can relax."

The two girls remained starstruck. Gabriel was known as the most beautiful woman in Heaven and the strongest female angel—she was their idol. Seeing her in person left them dazed, their hands clasped in prayer.

Seeing they weren't going to snap out of it, Gabriel could only offer a helpless, wry smile. She turned her focus back to Rhode. "I have heard all about your deeds. First, I want to thank you for stopping Kokabiel's plot. Not only did you recover the Holy Swords, but you also protected the sisters of Lucifer and Leviathan. If he had succeeded, the Three Factions might have been plunged into a new war. Neither Heaven, nor Azazel, nor the Underworld wishes for more conflict. After all..."

Gabriel paused. She reached into the void and drew out a knight's longsword radiating a holy flame.
