Blurb: “ There are times you should never give up.” He whispered into my ears, his red eyes sent a chill all over me. “ And there are times you should forget about things.” He added… I would always remember those words of his, the way he said them, the position we were in while he whispered those words in my ears. Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Nata's Pov

Immediately, I pressed my foot on the accelerator, checking the rearview mirror to know if the car was still behind me. I swallowed the lump in my throat. My heart rammed against my ribs, nearly leaping out of my chest.

Outside the car, it rained cats and dogs. Out of all wonderful days, those idiots didn't pick a nice time to chase me for their kill, and they picked this day, this hour. My heart sank as I sped through the highway, the damp smell of the earth filled my nose.

I just stared as the car slid through the road, but I knew I was taking a great risk. A risk that could cost my life. I kept tapping my fingers on the wheel hoping these people would just leave me alone.

I had just closed up from my little café when they started attacking me, fortunately I had escaped them, and managed to get into my car, just for the clouds to start crying as soon as I hit the highway.

Oh dear, what should I do? It was just like being lost in a dense forest all alone at night. My eyes were glued on the road, as the rain kept pouring down the car glass.

" Why now?" I said hurriedly, not to anyone but to myself.

If I didn't slow the car down right now, I might lose my life, and if I didn't speed up, I will also lose my life in the hands of these dangerous criminals who want me dead.

I didn't slow down, I kept the pace, I kept speeding. And hopefully, I will be safe.

As I got to a sharp corner, the very end led into the woods. And that was my only hope and chance of survival. If I didn't get into the woods, I would die, and if I went there is a huge chance of meeting with an accident.

I heaved a deep sigh, and just like in action movies. While my car was accelerating faster and faster.

Bam! The car plunged into the woods, leaves and branches hitting the car mirror. I gripped the wheels tightly, my legs glued on the accelerator. I leaned into the driver's seat, my breathing escalated. The car kept going deep into the woods as my head kept bumping against the car seat. I sealed my lips tight trying not to scream.

And before I knew what had happened, the car had bumped into a tree. " Ahh!" I screamed, pain shot through my veins as the shards of glass sank into my skin deeply.

I tried to lift my leg, but it got stuck. For one momentーthat split secondーmy vision blurred. And it was as if, the whole world, green leaves, trees, shards of glasses were made in two. I lifted my hand, slightly tapping my head a little. And wow, it worked, and I could see properly again.

" I think she is dead." I heard a masculine voice from a distance.

" The crash was so strong, I don't think she would survive it." Another guy said, " lemme go check." He added

" Wait." A loud voice called from a distance. " She's probably dead. I don't think it's best to get closer with those glowing red eyes watching." He said.

As soon as I heard those words, my ears perked up. Red eyes? Where? I lifted my head to see, but my eyes became blurry again.

I pinched myself slightly as I reached for the rearview mirror. The smell of blood filled my nostrils, and for one second I felt nauseated. I swallowed hard, I retracted my hand from the rearview mirror, touching my head, and by the time I checked, I realized what happened, it wasn't a mere injury.

" Help." I breathed the word, but my voice didn't go any louder. And with the last bit of strength in me, I pushed the door with my hand. Only for my hands to be covered with my blood.

My breath hitched, I turned my head toward the window and finally with my blood, I wrote the word on the window... Help me.

The weariness wore me down, I could barely hold on. And slowly, the darkness pulled me in as well. And I slowly gave up

Slowly, my eyes fluttered open. I inhaled sharply. My ears rang as if a siren was being played by my ear. Tiny explosions at the back of my head as images of last night flooded my brain.

I raised my head, staring, but there was no blood anymore. And slowly, I sat straight. How did I get here? That was the first question that hit my brain.

I turned my head, staring at the glistening white marble. I turned my head slightly, the wooden drawer was still there, it all felt familiar. And that was when it hit my brain, I was in my room.

I stared at the red curtains as multiple questions resounded at the back of my head. How did I get here? But, I was in the pouring rain last night?

My mind drifted back to the men's voice, they all sounded familiar. Like close people I had known.

Almost immediately, I got to my feet. But, at that moment, I regretted ever standing up. Great pain surged through my veins, it was as if my legs were gone already.

" Urgh," I groaned, gritting my teeth as I slowly sat back down. Damn, I was in the toughest situation ever.

I turned my head toward the window on my left, right there was my dressing mirror. And I could see my reflection through it. The whole bandages around my head, ointment all over my face.

The mint smell of the mentor filled my nose. I stared at my flushed face in the mirror.

The door swung open revealing Mitchell as he stood there with a plate of soup in his hands. And in an instant, I felt my mouth become watery….

Later that morning, everything went well. And through the pack healer's powers I healed really fast. The pain was all gone.

But, I still couldn't shake it off my mindーthat one questionーwho helped me? It was a question I couldn't ever forget. How did I survive?

The night came fast, it was the moon festival, and this was one of the best pack festivals. This is the moment we get to see the great prince of this pack after his 25years in the palace. It was a real deal.

I raised my head staring at the sky, the bright moon shone its milky light down upon my skin. I inhaled the air slowly, closing my eyes as I sniffed in the musk scent of the earth.

Cacophony of howls could be heard from far in the woods. I turned my head towards the altar. I watched as the elders made their way on the platform.

" Let's welcome our Alpha to the altar." He said, his voice cutting through the space.

The whole crowd cheered, lively howls could be heard. Today was a great day for all wolves, I had only wished to be like them, but I knew I could never be like them.

They were wolves, and I? I was just a mere human living amongst them.

I lowered my head, staring at the opulent marble, my eyes danced through the sea of flowers placed right on every edge of the hall.

I didn't have a word to describe how happy I was. I stared as the tables were set with meats and different delicacies that were mouth watery.

As the Alpha finished his whole announcement, he left the stage giving his son the chance to come up on the platform

I noticed he was staring at me with every minute that passed, he just waited and stared. And in the next second he transformed, darting towards me.

I didn't flinch, it was a sign. He is my mate. I knew it.

"She is so stupid for not running," a lady said beside me.

And before I could acknowledge her words, he slammed his hand paws hard on my chest, and I landed on my butt with a thud.

The whole crowd began murmuring

" Urgh." I groaned, pushing myself back up.

At that moment, he transformed back into his human form. And in the next second, he was right in front of me. He landed a tight punch on my face.

" Urgh!" The crowd chorused.

" Ah!" I yelled, as I began reversing.

" You crazy bitch turned out to be my mate!" He yelled.

" Wh… wh… what?" I stuttered, I didn't dare to turn my back against him. I slowly shook my head, I didn't acknowledge the pain, or I just shrugged it off like it was nothing. The main pain wasn't the punches, it was what he would do next.

" Are you trying to act it all out?" He yelled.

" No, what do you mean?" I was stunned and lost for words as this was my first time meeting him. I knew better than anyone not to run nor fight back, I'd be a dead meat by that time.

" You bitch!" He yelled, " why did you kill her? Why did you kill my mum?" He cried.

The whole crowd gasped.

" I never killed anyone," my voice began trembling. I never killed anyone, what was he talking about?
