Chapter Eleven
The celebration didn't last long. After all, God wasn't one to procrastinate. Having witnessed the most exciting parts, he planned to leave. However, before leaving, Jehovah still had many things to do. Seeing the Messiah's respectable demeanor, he felt it was time.
Gifts should be returned; it's a matter of courtesy.
Jehovah's gaze swept over the Dragon King and the Elf King. These two beings were created by him separately from the Seraphim. Their power and appearance were not much inferior to the Seraphim, which could be considered a gift from him. Their proud yet humble attitude, their beautiful yet reserved appearance, and the steadfast heart required for great power—these were the reasons they could be compared to the Seraphim.
"Elven King, Ansil."
"Yes, my god."
Hearing his true name called, the elven king with light blue hair knelt on the platform at the top of the steps, his emerald eyes filled with joy—pure happiness that his god had called his name.
"The name 'World Tree' is inappropriate. Let's call it the Tree of Life. I will transform one of its branches into a scepter of life; accept it."
The silver-haired deity in the holy light pondered for a moment, recalling the giant tree he had observed with his divine sense. Although it contained immense life force, it wasn't yet worthy of the title 'World.' The true World Tree hadn't yet been born; its name couldn't be stolen prematurely.
A long, amber-colored scepter appeared out of thin air. The material that should have been a branch had transformed into a crystal-like texture, clearly elevated by divine power.
"For my God to personally name it is an immense honor for Ansel. The tree was nurtured by me, the Seraphim, and the Dragon King Simpson; Ansel is unworthy of such a gift."
Without taking the object hanging in mid-air, no amount of powerful energy fluctuations could tempt him. The beautiful Elf King remained calm and composed, kneeling on the ground as she calmly finished speaking.
"No need to refuse. How could I not have seen their efforts? This is what you deserve."
God looked gently at the Elf King, whose virtues were no less than those of angels, and at the other Seraphim, who all showed joy. So being acknowledged by him brought such happiness to the angels? Then why not express his opinion and let all beings know his thoughts? Besides, he truly had seen the efforts of all the angels; even a word of praise wouldn't hurt.
"Golden Holy Light Dragon King, Simpson."
"Yes, my god."
A handsome, rugged man stepped forward and knelt neatly beside Ansel. His robust physique was noticeably more imposing than the Elf King's, but in terms of actual combat strength, the two clan leaders were evenly matched.
"This is the Dragon Soul Crown. You shall accept it."
Golden branches woven into the shape of a crown, a pale golden divine power enveloped it, instantly turning the branches a brighter, more radiant gold. Jehovah withdrew his power. The crown's name itself indicated its possession of soul-related power, using the life force of the Tree of Life to protect the soul of its wearer, and further empowered by God—truly a rare treasure.
Gazing at the resplendent crown, Simpson, after the Elf King received the scepter, happily removed the magnificent crown himself. It was unclear what God had been thinking when creating the Dragon Kings, but this had made the dragons' love of gold and jewels an instinct, a habit even the Seraphim, who later helped create, couldn't break.
"Since I don't intend to interfere in Heaven's affairs, then I must assign you positions."
Having dismissed the two creations, Jehovah, seated on his throne, addressed the angels with these words, signifying the bestowal of gifts upon them.
"Angels are divided into three orders and nine ranks. Each order has an archangel, who oversees the affairs of their respective celestial realm, assisted by a deputy. The eight archangels will be headed by the Seraphim, and the archangels will be chosen first from among the Seraphim. The deputies to the Seraphim and Cherubim will also be chosen from among the Seraphim, and the remaining deputies will be chosen from among the Cherubim."
Without intending to tease the angels, Jehovah simply announced the titles from the highest to the lowest, making it clear to all of Heaven who would be in actual power from now on.
"Lucifer, you are the Seraphim, leading the first rank of Seraphim. Can you do it?"
Before he could even react, God had bestowed upon him such a title. Lucifer took a deep breath, simultaneously sensing the weight of the responsibility that lay ahead. The nominal administrator of all the angels in Heaven, possessing the authority to govern all angels, made even Lucifer nervous.
"My God, Lucifer will certainly not disappoint you."
Lucifer, now an Archangel, spoke each word with uncanny clarity, his azure eyes gleaming. He was the strongest angel created by God, and would become the only angel with six wings of holy light. No one's glory could surpass his; he was God's 'most perfect'.
"Very well, I hope you can do the same."
The Book of Creation, carried by God, emitted a soft hum. Bizarre images flashed before Jehovah's eyes. Pure white was the most distinctive feature of Heaven. Finally, he saw a similar scene in a similar location, but this time, Lucifer was facing him with a sword raised. The golden-haired angel looked exactly the same as before, but the sharp arrogance that time could not erase was even greater.
His golden eyelashes trembled slightly, and the god's gaze slowly turned cold. He knew he possessed the ability to foresee the future, but he rarely used it. Only events closely related to himself would trigger God's premonition. The Messiah, possessing memories of the past, knew Lucifer's future, and how could Jehovah not know the contents of the Bible? He was simply confident that myths were ultimately just myths; how could the future of the Creator God be limited by mere written records?
So… was this a reminder that Lucifer would still betray him?
God, seated high on his throne, gazed upon the seemingly endless angels, a hint of contempt, unnoticed even in his golden eyes, flickering within him. He believed that some angels would rebel due to the inability to endure Heaven's discipline, but if a third of the angels truly fell, it was somewhat unbelievable. Could Lucifer truly possess such charisma that they would all abandon their faith in him?
What did a third of the angels mean? And more angels would continue to be born in the future—at least thirty million…
If creation abandons its faith in God, it betrays the light of the world. Jehovah is the ultimate embodiment of light; their fall was inevitable. Once an angel falls, they lose the protection they received. The spiritual energy protecting their soul dissipates instantly, and their pure, immaculate spirit is corrupted by the impurities of the outside world, forming a physical body that can never again enter Heaven, becoming a defiled fallen angel.
Looking into Lucifer's clear eyes, Jehovah's previously cold gaze softened slightly. Jehovah could not deny this foresight; no one knew what the future held. From the moment he became Jehovah, the Bible was nothing more than a blank sheet of paper.
"Arise, Lucifer, my...Radiant Morning Star."
Lucifer looked up in astonishment at God, only to see the Most High God gracefully descend from his throne and stand before him.
"All glory and power are external things. From now on, you are a Seraphim. Remember your true self: the seven virtues of love and the seven deadly sins."
The light was more intense and pure than the holy light on his wings, as if a god shrouded in light had gently touched the Seraphim's forehead with his index finger. A hazy halo spread out, enough to purify the myriad beings of the mortal world. A touch of warmth lingered between Lucifer's brows, warmer than anything else. Lost in thought for a moment, the words of the seven virtues he had heard at his birth seemed to echo in his mind. Lucifer asked in a daze, "My God, what are the seven deadly sins?"
"Wrath, pride, envy, lust, sloth, gluttony, greed—these are the seven deadly sins."
As the words fell, the angels, upon learning the seven deadly sins, involuntarily revealed their disgust. They were the purest beings in the world, and nothing was more repulsive than filth. Such unclean things were an eyesore even in the existence of the world. The Elf King and the Dragon King, however, barely grasped the meaning. They weren't so intensely averse to it, as they were merely beings inclined towards the Light attribute, not purely Light-attribute beings, and thus couldn't comprehend the angel's mindset.
"Michael, are you willing to be Lucifer's second-in-command?"
"My God, I am willing."
The red-haired, crimson-eyed angel smiled at his companion. He had no objection to Lucifer being his future superior. After agreeing, Michael bowed his head to God, his posture respectful and graceful. The six pairs of golden wings on his back testified to his Seraphim identity; from now on, he would be the Seraphim's second-in-command.
"Metatron, you are the Archangel of Cherubim, ruler of the eighth heaven of the stars, and Beelzebub is your second-in-command."
"Samael is the Archangel of Thrones, ruler of the seventh heaven of Saturn, Asmodeus is the Archangel of Archangels, ruler of the sixth heaven of Jupiter, and Belial is the Archangel of Power, ruler of the fifth heaven of Mars. Afterwards, each of you should go among the Cherubim and choose your respective second-in-command, then report to me in the Crystal Heaven, and I will record the names of your second-in-command in the Book of the Holy Spirit."
"As for Gabriel…"
Jehovah paused, noticing the unease in the female angel's eyes, before finally giving his answer, which he had pondered for some time.
"You command the ninth-ranking angels and the eighth-ranking archangels, holding the rank of Archangel. You are also in charge of the first celestial realm (Moon and Planet) and the second celestial realm (Mercury). Do you have any complaints?"
Gabriel, confused as to why God had skipped the fourth and third celestial realms and directly appointed her to manage the lower three ranks of angels, almost pouted, quickly suppressed her emotions. Angels care about honor and status, but they care even more about God's opinion of them.
What is this loss? Although it's regrettable that she can't compete for the management of the upper three ranks of angels, as long as God doesn't deem her incompetent, that's enough. Now that she has become a special manager of two celestial realms, her status is no less than Belial's or Asmodeus's. The Father's arrangement is already quite fair. Gabriel smiled and stepped forward to answer.
"I have no complaints. My God allowing me to manage two celestial realms is already a great blessing."
Messiah, who had been kneeling in the Seraphim rank, pursed his lips. Whether he would have a position depended on whether his name was among the next name called. While waiting, Messiah broke out in a cold sweat. He knew his future status wouldn't be low, but he didn't know what position it would be. Hearing the seraphim all being assigned their positions, he began to feel anxious. After all, this was a crucial factor in whether he could successfully establish himself in Heaven.
"Messiah, my child, come forward."
His heart, which had been pounding in his chest, finally settled. Messiah let out a sigh of relief and, obeying God's command, stepped forward to receive his investiture.
"You are different from angels, possessing a physical body, therefore you are similar to me, and should be the unique Holy Son of Heaven, with a status equivalent to that of a Seraphim. You will govern the Fourth Heaven of Venus and the Third Heaven of the Sun, simultaneously commanding the Archangels and Virtues. In the future, an Angel Academy will be established in the Eighth Heaven of the Stars, with you as its head, to teach the newly born angels."
The Seraphim were all astonished. To simultaneously possess control over two heavens was extremely rare. Gabriel only gained control of two heavens because of his relatively low angelic rank, while Messiah had gained a status equivalent to that of a Seraphim. The word "teaching" from God carried even greater weight at this moment.
Lucifer glanced at this now truly deserving Holy Son, not agreeing that the other was qualified to be on equal footing with him, but he would not oppose God's decision.
"Yes, my God."
Messiah knelt before God, as if undergoing a transformation in an instant, and spoke calmly.
Jehovah watched him indifferently. One sat on the throne, the other knelt beneath it—this was the difference between man and god, the distinction between past and future, a world apart.
