Chapter 1 - The Night of Betrayal

Rain battered the city in relentless sheets, drumming against the floor-to-ceiling windows of the penthouse. Lightning split the sky, illuminating the luxurious apartment in stark white flashes. Lena Hart stood frozen in the hallway, her hand resting on the doorknob she had hesitated to touch.

Inside the bedroom, a scene she had always feared, yet never imagined unfolded before her eyes.

Her fiancé.

Her sister.

Together.

The two people she had trusted more than anyone else in the world.

Time seemed to freeze. Lena's breath hitched, and a cold knot formed in her stomach. She wanted to scream, to lash out, but her voice refused to come. Mira, her sister, looked up with a smirk that sent a shiver down Lena's spine.

"You weren't supposed to find out like this," Mira said, her voice as casual as though she were discussing the weather.

Her fiancé, Daniel, leaned back against the dresser, his expression unreadable.

"Why?" Lena finally croaked, her voice trembling, "Why would you do this?"

"Because you're useless," Daniel replied flatly. "Your family's company is collapsing. Marrying you served a purpose, and that purpose is gone."

The words were daggers, sharp and precise. Lena's chest tightened, and she could feel the world tilting around her. The sacrifices she had made, the sleepless nights, the endless compromises. It had all meant nothing.

Mira stepped closer, her smirk widening. "You really thought anyone could love someone as boring as you?"

Lena staggered backward, her mind racing. Betrayal was one thing; humiliation was another entirely. Her vision blurred as her chest heaved, trying to contain the shock, the rage, the heartbreak all at once.

"Lena…" Daniel's voice was soft now, almost mocking. "You should have known better than to expect loyalty."

The room spun. The cold floor beneath her feet felt unreal. Her heart thundered, her head pounding in rhythm with the storm outside. Every memory of the past, every moment she had spent believing in them, collided violently with the reality before her.

"I… I trusted you!" she finally whispered, but the words felt meaningless.

Mira tilted her head, feigning pity. "Trust is earned, Lena. You never earned ours."

It was too much. Lena's legs gave way. She fell against the wall, sliding down until the floor pressed cold against her back. The world dimmed. She could hear nothing but the roar of the storm and the echo of betrayal in her mind.

Her last coherent thought flickered like a dying candle.

How could they?

Then the darkness swallowed her completely.

Her body went limp. The penthouse, the storm, Daniel, Mira, It all vanished.

And as her consciousness slipped away, a single thought lingered.

This isn't the end.
