But the permission came with strict conditions.
One of the leaders spoke clearly during the meeting:
"If something goes wrong, both of you will take full responsibility for the consequences."
Xenia and Foxi understood the risk.
They signed the official research documents and accepted the responsibility.
Four months later, inside the Antarctic research center, the scientists prepared the new experiment.
This time the device was stronger and more stable. The team attached a larger camera capable of recording high-quality video through the portal.
Foxi activated the machine.
Energy gathered inside the device, and a glowing portal slowly opened.
The camera was sent through the portal, connected to the laboratory with a long reinforced cable.
The video feed appeared on the large screen.
At first, everything looked dark.
Then the scientists saw something impossible.
A massive black hole.
The camera was somehow observing a region of space where enormous gravitational forces twisted the surrounding environment.
But what shocked them even more was what appeared nearby.
Strange human-like figures were moving close to the black hole.
Their bodies were extremely thin, almost fragile looking. Their eyes were unusual—large white eyeballs with complex red patterns inside them.

Xenia stared at the screen in disbelief.

Foxi quickly began pulling the cable to retrieve the camera.
But before the camera could fully return, the strange beings seemed to notice it.
A powerful vibration appeared on the screen.
Moments later, the video feed distorted.
The camera was destroyed by a powerful wave of sound or energy.
At the same moment, the portal collapsed.
The laboratory fell silent.
Xenia and Foxi stood frozen, staring at the dark screen.
