Chapter 199 - Chapter 199: Mosquitoes (BONUS)

"I just don't know if this power is caused by the world itself or if it's an environment created by some powerful entity. However, this situation is quite similar to our main universe. As long as one's philosophy is pure and firm enough, one can gain the attention of gods or carve out one's own path, thereby obtaining great power."

After Caelus and Cyrene finished cleaning up, they sat together on the sofa, leaning against each other and watching the news of this world.

Cyrene really liked the feeling of being close to Caelus in this daily life, like doing chores together or watching TV. As long as they were together, she felt very happy.

"Partner, are you going to become a hero?" Cyrene asked suddenly.

"A hero, huh? That seems like a decent professional experience. Besides, we don't have a reliable source of income in this world, so we could try it out."

Caelus thought about it. If he wanted to observe those professional heroes, becoming a hero himself seemed like a good experience. He could use that opportunity to observe the different wills of those heroes.

In a place where one only needed a sufficiently firm belief in one's heart, was it possible to artificially interfere and influence the creation of a powerful existence?

For example, by directly interfering with memories, fabricating and rewriting all of someone's experiences from childhood to adulthood, allowing them to firmly believe in something through this method, and thus gain great power.

And could he draw inspiration from the experiences, mindset, and memories of his neighbor Saitama, then use the power of Finality and memories to directly shape an identical existence?

Caelus thought this, but did not experiment right away. After all, he was a rather laid-back person, and what he liked doing most was just recording stories.

As for this plan to create fake heroes, he would leave it for later.

Anyway, he had actually already created a fake hero who was genuinely recognized as real.

The next morning, Saitama excitedly rushed to the location of the Hero Association, intending to register as a hero. However, as soon as he arrived, he was told that the exam would not start for a few days, so he had to helplessly head back. On his way, while stopping by the nearby supermarket to buy discounted goods, he encountered an inexplicable purple-skinned monster who was spouting unintelligible nonsense about being an envoy of Earth.

Because Saitama was in a hurry to buy things at the supermarket, before the monster could even show off its power, he casually punched it to pieces.

An incident that would have caused widespread casualties was inexplicably eliminated.

The reason was simply because someone happened to be passing by and wanted to buy discounted goods at the supermarket.

Two days later, Saitama was watering his potted plants on the balcony when a mosquito flew back and forth in front of him, making him very impatient. He reached out to swat it, only to find that he could not hit the mosquito no matter what.

Caelus was at home, flipping through various ancient books he had obtained from the Xianzhou, when he suddenly heard a sound like clapping.

He closed the book in his hand, walked to the balcony, and looked at his neighbor's place. He discovered Saitama wearing his striped pajamas, moving around as if performing some weird dance, except his palms kept clapping together.

"Uh, is this morning exercise?"

"Ah! Caelus, good morning. There are a lot of mosquitoes lately. I'm just swatting them."

After greeting him, Saitama resumed his battle with the mosquito that he could not seem to hit no matter how hard he tried.

Caelus found it a bit strange. With the other's powerful physical constitution, wouldn't dealing with a mosquito be instantaneous? Why was he completely unable to hit it now? Was there something strange about this mosquito? He did not sense anything.

After observing for a while and seeing that the other had gotten himself worked up to the point of turning red from swatting the mosquito without actually killing it, Caelus sighed helplessly, then reached out and helped him take care of the mosquito.

It was clearly just an ordinary mosquito, yet Saitama could not hit it at all. Could it be that this mosquito also had a mind of its own and possessed some sort of idealistic rule that it would absolutely never be swatted to death by a human?

After Saitama coughed in slight embarrassment and pretended that nothing had happened, he finished watering his plants and returned to his room. Caelus also shook his head and went back into his house, preparing to continue reading the ancient books. However, before he could settle down for long, the noisy sound rang out again, and this time it was particularly chaotic and loud, as if tens of thousands of mosquitoes were flapping their wings outside.

"So many mosquitoes."

Caelus came to the balcony again and looked outside, discovering a huge swarm of mosquitoes flying in the sky in the distance. By estimation, the number was likely over a billion, like a terrifying tide.

However, these mosquitoes were just ordinary creatures. They did not reach the level of the True Stings from the Swarm Disaster. Even in an ordinary world, using some technological means, one could quickly clear them out. But the appearance of so many mosquitoes meant there must be a monster related to mosquitoes behind it.

"There are really a lot of mosquitoes these days. Summer is just like that. I'll have to buy some more insecticide and mosquito coils for the house."

Saitama also poked his head out to look, muttering to himself, then changed into a yellow bodysuit and red gloves that made people want to make fun of him, with a white cape draped over his back.

Even in the interstellar era, this outfit would definitely be eye-catching if worn on the street.

After seeing Saitama leave, Caelus vaulted out from the balcony and instantly arrived at a nearby battlefield.

A cyborg, similar to Boothill, was spraying fire and clearing away large swaths of mosquitoes.

Naturally, this cyborg guy attracted the attention of the mastermind, and a female monster with many mosquito characteristics appeared.

At first, the guy was beating the female monster, as mosquitoes could not possibly extract machine oil from a mechanical body.

However, this female mosquito monster absorbed all the blood collected by the mosquitoes she had spread out, gaining great power. In an instant, her speed and power far exceeded what they were before, and she pinned the guy to the ground, beating him.

This cyborg guy was clearly no coward. Seeing that the situation was bad, the thought of self-destructing appeared in his mind, and he had even started to pull out his energy core.

Caelus thought that if this guy self-destructed here, the place where he lived would be affected. Just as he was about to intervene, he saw that Saitama had already appeared.

Then, accompanied by a crisp slapping sound, the mosquito monster smashed directly into the corner of an abandoned building in the distance, her body deeply embedded in it, as if a mosquito had been swatted against a wall, flattening her body.

So, he could not hit an ordinary mosquito after trying for a long time, but he solved the mosquito monster, whose speed was countless times faster than that mosquito, with a single slap.

"A world governed by such idealistic rules really defies conventional logic."

Caelus muttered this to himself, then directly reached out, extracted the memories of the half-dead female monster, and brought them back to his home.

Heroes needed to be observed, and monsters naturally had to be as well. Only in this way could he gain a deeper understanding of this world.

(To be continued.)

Working on a book that I feel is quite unique? It's not fanfiction, but it has elements of fanfiction. I've posted it and would appreciate it if you could check it out and see if it's something you'd like to follow.
