Kabel awoke to unfamiliar wood ceiling. The wood wasn't cut into planks and it was such a smooth cut that it didn't even look like it was ever made into pieces and assembled. Like a tree it seemed too simply grow into the shape of a room. His limbs didn't hurt but were very weak as if they was drained off all energy.
He also noticed that the bed he lay on was strangely comfortable and the softest thing he had ever felt. What confused him even more was that he felt his bed recharging him. It wasn't healing his physical exhaustion but something else. More than ever before, he could sense clearly his Mana. It was as clear as seeing how much water was in a cup.
He could feel it flowing through his scars. "Scars!" He could feel them coursing through the top layer of his body like rivers on land. "Shit they're everywhere including my arm!" Happiness filled him as he realised he had gotten his arm back somehow.
As the realisation hit him Rolph came up too his bedside and stood where he was looking. "Why hello there! God someone sleeped for too long, you did your awakening and first off good job you survived! I'm sure everyone back home will be ecstatic and make sure too put a good word in for me when you get back cuase secondly, I'll graciously volunteer too bring you back too your den! Ah before we start talking business we should make sure you actually can but thats gonna take some time around three more days....however....hm" He pulled the sheets off the bed suddenly and without warning.
Kabel realised he was stark naked and he felt quite embarrassed even if Rolph was staring at him like a piece of meat. He made Kabel float by weakening gravity's effect on him and turned him around mid air growing more surprised as he went along. It only took him an minute before putting Kabel down and placing the blanket over him gently.
"M'lord I'm sorry for the misplaced treatment I'll use somthing I've been holding for a rainy day right away!" He ran and got a suspicious looking potion from out of his statis bag. "Here it is sir" He then gently put it up too Kabels lips and let the mixture flow down his throat. Kabel had never even tasted anything close to it. It's like a vibrant forest similar to the one that he was from got melted down into a single drop. The amount of flavours that exploded on his tounge sent so many signals to his brain that he even briefly hallucinated that he was in one.
When he recovered from the potion he felt his body gain new energy in a fast but gentle way. "Sir this is called a Alahara oak elixir it is only given to the mages within the top 50 of the contribution rankings" He bragged shamelessly but this worked out well for Kabel as he recovered from his physical situation he also finally understood how nonsensical his current situation was. "Hm I remember fighting that thing then I failed to get back too camp in time but I did manage to stir my mana then...change it contacted me too help me avoid heavens wills wrath I agreed and then from the looks of it this fool picked me up but why does he think I'm an aristocrat either nobels in....wherever I am have very distinct traits that match mine or my mana awakening had done somthing very valuable or special to my body" Mirranda had once told him you can tell the strength of a mage by the size of their scars or heavens marking as they called them. He thought back too Mirandas marking that only covered her left hand and up too her elbow, he even remembered how deep they were as he stroked her hand as she used too pat him on the head. Then he compared that too his own his new found mana flowing through his own markings and found them too not only cover his entire body but also be decently deeper.
He studied the room around him and just the bedroom he was in was full of what seems to be useless trinkets. Rolph saw him staring and awkwardly commented "Sorry about that sir but I use this as a storage room when I don't have guests" By now Kabel had gained back the energy too talk but he didn't dare as a single mispoken word might spell his death. He thought over the current situation as fast as he could before realising that he just didn't have enough information to trick anyone right now so he could only resort to desperate measures.
"I apologise my good sir but the only thing I remember is that my name is Kabel" At those words the mage froze up and his top hat nearly fell of his head. Kabel finally analysed the man infront of him. He had dark eye's and light blue hair with a androgynous appearance. The man put his fingers on his brow while his face wrinkled in deep thought. Soon he said out loud "What god are you contracted with?" Kabel was hesitant but he said "The god of change" silence followed as Rolph was too shocked to say anything and Kabel was too nervous too.
After awhile Rolph looked at him seriously "How about this if you're really contracted with the god of change how about coming under my wing? I'll teach everything there is too know and if I like you enough my legacy" Kabel only gave a sad grin. What choice did he have? Stuck in god knows where with everyone he knew gone. The thought reminded him. "Um sir" Before he could finish the sentence he cut him off. "Rolph, call me Rolph but if you agree the you would have too call me master"
"Rolph was there anyone near me?" Rolph just looked at him disappointed and said "If there was I wouldn't have taken you" Thats about what Kabel figured but he had too make sure. "Okay how about you take a day to think it over, rest up for abit and I'll show you around the city" He stood up to leave but Kabel stopped him.
"How strong are you?" Rolph let out a grin with intention like nothing he had seen from him yet. Like a actor dropping a mask he said "Stronger than anyone could possibly think" The honest in his words drove Kabel and remembering his pathetic struggle and how his time spent lazing about led too his death and potentially the death of everyone he had cared about was the fuel for his fire of curiosity. "I Kabel humbly greet my master"
