Endless Chaos – Chaos Void Plane: The Path of Story
Chapter 12 – The City of a Million Stories
Raphael stood on the hill in silence.
Below him stretched Aurelis.
The city was unlike anything he had ever seen.
Towers shaped like giant open books rose into the sky.
Bridges made of glowing script connected floating buildings.
Rivers of faint golden light flowed through the streets like living sentences.
Everywhere he looked…
Words floated in the air.
Fragments of stories.
Lina's mouth hung open.
"…This place is insane."
Raphael nodded slowly.
"Yeah."
"In a good way."
Caelum began walking again.
"Come."
"The gates close at night."
As they approached the city, the scale became even more overwhelming.
The outer walls were enormous.
Not made of stone.
But carved entirely from engraved narratives.
Thousands of glowing paragraphs covered the surface.
Raphael stepped closer to read one.
"Here stands the wall that has never fallen."
"Built by the First Story Architects."
"Protected by ten thousand legends."
Raphael raised an eyebrow.
"So the wall is protected by… stories?"
Caelum nodded.
"Yes."
"If someone tries to attack it…"
"The defensive narratives activate."
Raphael grinned.
"That's actually genius."
At the entrance stood two massive gates.
Each shaped like a turning page.
Guards stood in front of them wearing long coats decorated with glowing ink patterns.
Each guard carried a strange weapon.
A script blade.
Lina whispered.
"Those are Story Guards."
Raphael whispered back.
"I figured."
One of the guards stepped forward.
"State your purpose."
Caelum answered calmly.
"I am Caelum of the Silver Archive."
The guard's expression changed immediately.
He bowed slightly.
"Apologies, Cultivator."
"You may enter."
Then the guard looked at Raphael and Lina.
"And them?"
Caelum pointed at Raphael.
"A new storyteller."
The guard studied Raphael carefully.
"You have proof?"
Raphael scratched his head.
"Uh…"
Caelum gestured.
"Show him."
Raphael sighed.
"Alright."
He stepped forward.
Focused.
Imagined the familiar moment from his story.
Hero facing the dragon.
He swung his arm.
"Dragon Severing Strike."
SHHHK
A sharp blade of wind cut across the air.
It sliced a nearby training post clean in half.
The guards stared.
One of them whistled quietly.
"Not bad."
Another guard nodded.
"Legend-type narrative technique."
The first guard stepped aside.
"You may enter Aurelis."
The moment they passed through the gates…
Raphael froze again.
Because the inside of the city was even more unbelievable.
Markets filled the streets.
But instead of normal goods…
People were selling stories.
Floating scrolls.
Crystal memory orbs.
Books glowing with strange light.
One merchant shouted loudly.
"Fresh adventure stories!"
"Hero narratives!"
"Monster legends!"
Another stall displayed weapons made from condensed text.
A sword formed entirely from glowing words.
Lina stared everywhere at once.
"This place is amazing!"
Raphael laughed.
"It's like a bookstore had a baby with a fantasy world."
Caelum sighed.
"You speak very strangely."
As they walked deeper into the city, Raphael noticed something else.
Some storytellers radiated strong energy.
Others seemed ordinary.
"Hey Caelum."
"Yes?"
"Is there some kind of ranking system here?"
Caelum nodded.
"Of course."
He pointed to a tall tower nearby.
A massive glowing symbol hovered above it.
"That is the Narrative Registry."
"All storytellers are ranked there."
Raphael tilted his head.
"Ranked how?"
Caelum answered clearly.
"The strength of their stories."
He explained the system as they walked.
Narrative Rank System
Seed Rank – beginners creating small story seeds
Path Rank – storytellers forming stable narrative paths
Legend Rank – stories powerful enough to shape reality
Myth Rank – stories capable of creating story worlds
Origin Rank – creators of entirely new narrative concepts
Raphael whistled softly.
"Origin Rank sounds insane."
Caelum nodded.
"Very few have ever reached it."
Raphael smirked.
"Challenge accepted."
They stopped in front of the Narrative Registry Tower.
The structure was enormous.
Its walls were made from endless layers of floating text.
Thousands of names glowed across its surface.
Lina pointed upward.
"Look!"
Raphael followed her finger.
Near the bottom of the tower…
A new name slowly appeared.
Raphael – Dragon Slayer Narrative
Raphael blinked.
"…That's me."
Caelum nodded.
"You are now officially registered."
Raphael leaned closer.
"What rank am I?"
The text shifted slightly.
Then a symbol appeared beside his name.
Seed Rank – Legend Fragment
Caelum looked impressed.
"That is extremely rare."
Raphael grinned.
"Beginner luck."
But at that moment…
A mocking voice came from behind them.
"Well well."
"A countryside storyteller already made it onto the registry."
Raphael turned around.
A young man stood there wearing elaborate robes covered in glowing script.
Several followers stood behind him.
The man smirked arrogantly.
"I heard someone created a dragon story."
He looked Raphael up and down.
"…I expected someone more impressive."
Lina frowned.
"Who is this guy?"
Caelum answered quietly.
"Veyron."
"A Path Rank storyteller from the Crimson Quill Guild."
Raphael tilted his head.
"So… rival?"
Caelum nodded slightly.
"Very likely."
Veyron laughed softly.
"A Seed Rank beginner playing with dragon stories…"
"That's dangerous."
He leaned closer to Raphael.
"In this city…"
"Stories are not just told."
"They are challenged."
Raphael smiled slowly.
"Oh?"
Veyron pointed toward the center of the city.
"The Narrative Arena."
"Where storytellers battle using their stories."
He smirked confidently.
"Care to prove your legend is real?"
Raphael cracked his knuckles.
"Well…"
"I do like testing new chapters."
Lina groaned.
"You've been here ten minutes!"
But Raphael was already smiling.
Because the Path of Story had just given him his first rival.
And every good story needed conflict.
