Chapter 1 - The Boy on the Last Bench

One cold morning, the road was covered with fog. Rony was walking to school with an old bag in his hand. The zipper of the bag was broken, so it was tied with a piece of rope.

Rony's father had died many years ago. His mother worked in other people's houses to run the family. Sometimes they didn't even have enough food. Still, Rony went to school every day, because he believed that education could change his life one day.

In school, Rony always sat on the last bench. No one really noticed him. His shirt was old and his shoes were torn. Many students laughed at him.

One day in class, the teacher said,

"Tomorrow everyone must bring new books."

All the students went home happily. But Rony felt very worried. He knew his mother didn't have money to buy new books.

That night, Rony sat quietly. His mother asked,

"What happened, my son?"

Rony looked down and said softly,

"Mom… we need new books tomorrow."

His mother stayed silent for a moment. Then she smiled gently, though there were tears in her eyes.

"Don't worry… I will arrange something tomorrow."

Early the next morning, his mother went out. Rony waited for her, but it was almost time for school and she still hadn't returned.

Finally, she came back running. In her hand was a plastic bag. Inside it were new books.

Rony said happily,

"Mom! Where did you get these?"

She simply replied,

"You just focus on your studies."

Rony went to school with great joy. But when he came home in the afternoon, he saw his mother lying on the bed, looking very tired.

A neighbor said,

"Your mother worked extra hard today in other people's houses to earn money, just to buy your books…"

Tears filled Rony's eyes. He sat beside his mother and held her hand.

That night, Rony looked up at the sky and made a promise in his heart:

"One day I will become successful… and I will never let my mother suffer again."

But life is not always as simple as a story.

A few months later, his mother became very sick. Because they had no money, she couldn't get proper treatment.

One early morning, as the sun was rising, Rony realized his mother would never open her eyes again.

That day, the boy from the last bench became truly alone.

But he never stopped studying. Because his mother's last words were:

"Keep studying, my son… one day you will shine like a light."

Years passed.

One day, that boy from the last bench grew up and became a teacher.

In his classroom, he always pays extra attention to poor students. Because he knows:

Even the story of a boy sitting on the last bench can become a very great story one day.
