The Story of Two Friends
From Silchar Market to a Bank Job
Part 1 – The First Meeting
The famous Silchar Market in Assam was always full of life. From early morning, the sound of shop shutters opening, people talking, and vehicles passing through the narrow streets filled the air.
By 9 a.m., the entire market would already be busy.
Shopkeepers arranged their goods, customers walked around looking for what they needed, and tea stalls started serving hot cups of tea to tired workers.
Among all those people was a young man named Subhajit.
Subhajit worked as a salesman in a small shop in the market. His life was simple but full of struggle. Every day he stood for hours, showing products to customers, convincing them to buy, and managing the shop.
Sometimes he felt tired, sometimes he felt worried about the future, but he never stopped working hard.
One afternoon during his lunch break, Subhajit walked slowly toward a small tea stall at the corner of the market. It was a place where many workers came to relax for a few minutes.
As he stood there waiting for his tea, he noticed another young man standing beside him.
His name was Bishnu.
Bishnu also worked in the same market.
He looked at Subhajit and said with a friendly smile,
"Brother, would you like to have tea?"
Subhajit smiled back and replied,
"Why not? Tea tastes even better when you share it with someone."
Both of them laughed.
They sat on a wooden bench near the stall and started talking.
At first, they talked about small things — their work, the market, and their daily routine.
But slowly their conversation turned deeper.
They started sharing their dreams… their struggles… and their hopes for the future.
Neither of them realized that this simple cup of tea was the beginning of a friendship that would stay strong for many years.
Part 2 – A Friendship Begins
After that day, Subhajit and Bishnu started meeting regularly.
Every morning they went to their own jobs, but every evening they met at the same tea stall.
What began as a casual meeting slowly turned into a habit.
The tea stall became their favorite place.
There they laughed together, shared their problems, and supported each other.
Bishnu had a big dream.
He wanted to get a government job one day.
He believed that if he succeeded, he could change his family's life forever.
Subhajit, on the other hand, had simpler dreams.
He often said,
"I just want to work honestly and make sure the people I care about are never alone."
Whenever Bishnu felt discouraged about exams and competition, Subhajit encouraged him.
"Don't worry, brother," he would say.
"One day your hard work will be rewarded."
And when Subhajit felt tired from standing all day in the shop, Bishnu would motivate him.
"Keep going. Life may be hard now, but better days will come."
Slowly, their friendship became stronger than they ever imagined.
People in the market began to notice them together all the time.
Some even started calling them brothers instead of friends.
Part 3 – A New Journey
After a few years, working in shops started to feel difficult.
The salary was small, the hours were long, and the work was exhausting.
One evening, while sitting at the tea stall, Subhajit suddenly said,
"Brother, why don't we try something new?"
Bishnu looked curious.
"What do you mean?"
Subhajit replied,
"Why don't we start driving auto-rickshaws? At least we'll be our own bosses."
Bishnu thought about it for a moment.
Then he smiled and said,
"If you're with me, I'm ready."
Within a few weeks, both of them started driving auto-rickshaws in Silchar.
Their lives changed again.
From morning to evening they drove through the busy streets, picking up passengers and dropping them at their destinations.
Sometimes the sun was too hot.
Sometimes rain made the roads slippery and dangerous.
Sometimes they worked the entire day and still earned very little.
But no matter how difficult the day was, one thing never changed.
Every evening they still met at that same tea stall.
They shared stories about their passengers, laughed about funny moments, and talked about their dreams.
Part 4 – Hard Days, Strong Friendship
Life as an auto driver was not easy.
Some days they hardly got any passengers.
Other days they worked so much that their bodies felt completely exhausted.
But they never stopped supporting each other.
Whenever Bishnu felt worried about his future, Subhajit would say,
"Don't lose hope. One day your dream will come true."
And whenever Subhajit felt tired of the struggles, Bishnu would say,
"Brother, one day we will look back at these days and smile."
Their friendship slowly became their biggest strength.
Part 5 – The Phone Call
One ordinary afternoon, something unexpected happened.
Bishnu's phone rang.
He looked at the screen and answered the call.
For a few seconds he remained silent.
Then suddenly his eyes widened.
His face slowly filled with happiness.
He ran toward Subhajit and shouted with excitement,
"Brother… I got the job!"
Subhajit looked confused.
"What job?"
"My bank job… I got selected!"
For a moment, Subhajit said nothing.
Then a big smile appeared on his face.
He hugged Bishnu tightly.
"I always knew you would succeed," he said softly.
That evening they celebrated with tea and samosas at their favorite stall.
But deep inside their hearts, they both knew that life was about to change.
Part 6 – Different Roads
Soon, Bishnu started working in a bank.
He wore formal clothes, worked in an office, and had new responsibilities.
Meanwhile, Subhajit continued driving his auto-rickshaw.
Their lives had taken different paths.
But their friendship stayed the same.
Every evening, if possible, they still met at the tea stall.
Bishnu talked about customers and office work.
Subhajit talked about the streets, the passengers, and the long days of driving.
Despite their different lives, they still felt the same comfort when they sat together with a cup of tea.
Part 7 – A Difficult Moment
One day, something unfortunate happened.
Subhajit's auto-rickshaw suddenly broke down.
The repair cost was high, and he didn't have enough money.
He sat quietly beside his auto, feeling worried and helpless.
When Bishnu heard about this, he immediately came to meet him.
He placed a hand on Subhajit's shoulder and said,
"Brother, as long as I am here, you will never face problems alone."
Without hesitation, Bishnu helped him pay for the repairs.
Subhajit's eyes filled with tears.
Not tears of sadness…
but tears of gratitude.
Because in that moment he realized something important.
True friendship is not about good times.
It is about standing beside someone when life becomes difficult.
Part 8 – A Friendship That Never Changed
People in Silchar Market often talked about them.
"Friendships like this are rare," some said.
But for Subhajit and Bishnu, their friendship was simple.
They never counted who had more money or who had a better job.
For them, friendship meant loyalty, trust, and standing beside each other no matter what.
Part 9 – Ten Years of Friendship
Years passed.
From 2016 to 2026, their friendship remained exactly the same.
Life changed.
Jobs changed.
Responsibilities increased.
But their bond never changed.
Even after ten years, they still laughed together at the same tea stall where everything had started.
Part 10 – The Real Treasure
Even today, if someone walks through Silchar Market, they might see two men sitting together with cups of tea, laughing like old friends.
And people often say,
"If you want to learn the meaning of true friendship… look at Bishnu and Subhajit."
Because in a world where many relationships change with time, money, and success…
Their friendship stayed pure.
And maybe that is the greatest treasure life can give—
A friend who stays beside you no matter how life changes.
