Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 – The Hidden Lab

The team had barely caught their breath after the quiet moments with Nick when Ava noticed a strange glow in the distance. It wasn't from the streetlights or the buildings—they were too uniform for that. This was… different.

"Do you see that?" Ava whispered, pointing.

Julie squinted. "Looks like… lights. But weird ones. Almost like they're underground."

John's eyes lit up. "Underground? Maybe it's a secret lab. Could be where the clones are being made—or worse."

Nick's hand brushed Ava's for a moment as they stepped forward together. "Whatever it is, we check it out… but carefully. No surprises."

They followed the glowing trail through narrow alleyways and crumbling buildings until they found a hidden hatch in the ground. Rusted, old, and almost invisible.

Ava's pulse raced. "This is it. This is something no one's supposed to see."

With a team effort, they pried open the hatch and descended into darkness. The air was thick, cold, and smelled metallic. Strange machines lined the walls, humming with quiet energy, and glass tubes held… something moving.

"Non-humans?" Nick muttered, pointing to a few strange creatures in stasis.

Ava stepped closer, her hand brushing one of the tubes. A memory flickered—her parents, the experiments, the folder she had found. This is connected.

Suddenly, a voice echoed through the lab: "I see we have visitors."

The group spun around—and there, leaning casually against a console, was a figure cloaked in shadows. Not a clone, not a human, but something else entirely. Their eyes glowed faintly, and a small smirk appeared.

"I've been waiting for someone like you," the stranger said. "Especially you, Ava."

Ava's heart skipped a beat. Who was this person? Friend? Enemy? And what did they know about her parents—and the world she thought she understood?

Julie whispered, "This is… bad, right?"

John nodded, fists clenched. "Yeah. Very bad."

Nick stepped closer to Ava. "Whatever happens, we face it together."

Ava took a deep breath, clutching her pendant. The shadows of the lab felt heavier, the air buzzing with danger—but also… possibilities.

For the first time, Ava realized that the truth about her world—and her parents—was far bigger than she had ever imagined. And the journey was only getting darker, deeper, and more dangerous.
