Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Call of adventure

Year 2126, York in the European Union

In a mundane day of futuristic urban sprawl contained within towering walls made of metal and concrete.

BOOM!

A man in medieval armour with a spear of blue steel had leaped many meters in the air and aimed for a monster area E. With his superman strength, he launched the spear, creating a sonic wave in the process.

In Area E, in front of a violet portal, many fewer superhuman men and women were fighting a hideous abomination that reached the roofs of apartments and looked like a giant lump of flesh with innumerable eyes. Then, they heard a sound and retreated.

BOOM!

The blue steel spear landed on the head of the monster, or whatever it had for a head, shattering all glass in the surrounding area, blowing it away into tiny pieces of flesh. The man in the medieval armour landed with the tiny pieces of flesh following him.

He spared a look at the lump of flesh that was slowly dematerialising into illusory black smoke.

"Archbishop Alaric Lucarelli !" said a less superhuman woman in awe.

Alaric picked up his rooted spear and turned to them and said, "Collect its soul core and evaluate the damage. I need to go to another gate in Dublin soon."

Everyone had already straightened their backs and saluted, "Yes, sir".

...

In an affluent district, inside the Lucarelli household.

Lancelot Lucarelli, who was just 16 years old, woke up and found something wrong with his body.

'No, not just my body, but my soul.'

He was feeling superhuman strength and durability.

...

"So it's about time," a bearded and chivalrous-looking man sighed.

He was Lancelot's father, Ronald Lucarelli.

Just then, Archbishop Alaric entered Lancelot's room.

"Brother?" asked Ronald.

"I got the news from Helena." With that, he took out a clay canteen. "He will definitely need this."

He tossed it at Lancelot for him to catch and said in a serious tone," Listen, nephew, I know this is general knowledge for you, but I will still explain it to be safe. In a few hours, you will be thrown into the spirit world where there is no water, no food, and if you are unlucky, no sunlight as well. The canteen is a spirit item and contains more water than you would need. Also, there will be many cursed spirits there that you cannot eat, as they will dematerialise after dying. Also, an Acolyte like you can go a month without food. Also, " He was interrupted by Ronald.

"Just find a human citadel and come back in one piece, and don't think too much about your mother. She is... just.. she just can't handle the stress of you going there, you know," he said in a jesting manner, trying to hide his worries.

"And when you come back, you would have to start calling me captain." He jested again.

Just that moment, Lancelot felt something from his soul.

"uhmm dad I think it's about time." He appeared calm, but his heart was beating like a hammer.

"Ohh, and also," before Ronald could complete his sentence, his son disappeared.

Still, silence filled the room.

...

Under a dark sky, towering mountain ranges with valleys covered with mist in the spirit world.

Lancelot had teleported there in his pajamas and a clay canteen, completely dumbfounded

"uh they forgot to give me a sword."

Observing his surrounds he took a sip from the canteen.

'All I can see is black soil can mist here. This place even lacks vegetation. Uncle was right about no food and water. More importantly, there is no sun; it looks like I am short on luck. My best option is to just travel.'

Just then, he noticed a presence near him, no, it was just behind him.

A green serpent with its fangs protruding outwards was staring him down. Its body was at least 5 times wider than his torso.

He jumped back in a flash and looked back at the serpent.

'I don't have a sword. Hmm, there is only one thing it can do.'

He turned to face away from the serpent and ran.
