Jay's POV
If one more person yelled "Mrs. Keifer!" I was changing schools.
Section E was ruthless—every grin, every joke, every whispered "power couple of the gym" felt like fuel to the fire. Edrix even bowed when I walked past the lockers this morning.
"Keifer, your wife's here!" Felix called.
"Tell him to sign the divorce papers!" I shot back, slamming my locker door.
Everyone hollered. Even C‑in nearly cried from laughing.
And there he was—leaning against the lockers like he'd just stepped out of a movie, hair messy, grin criminal. Keifer. The reason my life was currently a meme.
"You've got quite the fan club," he said, eyes glinting.
I crossed my arms. "Funny. I didn't apply for one."
He leaned in a little. "You didn't have to. You started it the second you tripped me."
I groaned. "Let it go already."
"Can't," he said easily. "You literally swept me off my feet."
"And you kissed me ! "
I stared at him, halfway between exasperated and flustered. "You're impossible."
He grinned wider. "Yet here you are—still talking to me."
He took a lazy step closer, finger hooking my lanyard like it was nothing, tugging just enough to make my breath hitch.
"Careful," I warned. "People are watching."
"Good," he murmured. "Let them see"
I pulled back, pretending not to smile. "You're unbelievable."
"Only when I'm lying," he said, wink quick and lethal, before strolling off toward Section E like the hallway belonged to him.
And just like that, my heart refused to calm down.
