Chapter 2 - The Alliance

Morning sunlight spilled over Lorum Village, bathing the narrow streets and small houses in a warm glow. For the first time in years, the village felt alive. Children ran barefoot across the dirt paths, laughing as merchants set up stalls filled with fresh produce, crafts, and goods from nearby towns.

Saito walked among them, his eyes calm but always observing. He checked the irrigation channels for the crops, adjusted the placement of a few stalls, and offered advice to farmers and traders alike. His movements were quiet, deliberate—every action meant to make the village stronger.

"Try planting these near the stream," he suggested to one farmer, pointing to a patch of rich soil. "They'll grow faster, and the yield will last longer."

The man nodded, surprise and gratitude flickering across his face. "Thank you, Saito-san. I… I never thought we could manage this."

Saito gave a small nod. "You can. You just need to plan carefully and work together."

In the market square, a few merchants from nearby villages had come to trade, encouraged by the rumors that Lorum was now under protection. Saito spoke to them, calmly explaining the benefits of trading safely here. Slowly, the village began to thrive—not just surviving, but growing stronger and more connected.

Even Tina moved among the villagers with a smile, helping set up fruit baskets and small goods, her eyes shining with hope. For the first time, she didn't just feel protected—she felt that life here could flourish.

Kaito walked beside Saito, spinning a knife idly as he observed the work. He didn't speak much, but his presence reassured the villagers. The two of them, a strange pair, had become the quiet backbone of Lorum Village's revival.

By sunset, the village was buzzing with life: children laughing, merchants bartering, and the smell of fresh bread and cooked vegetables drifting through the streets. Saito stood atop a small hill overlooking the village, arms folded, eyes scanning every corner. It was small, but it was strong, and under careful guidance, it would only get stronger.

"This… is just the beginning," Saito muttered to himself.

Far from Lorum Village, in the dim light of a ruined warehouse on the outskirts of Jokun City, a figure sat at a makeshift table, the shadows of broken windows cutting across his face. This was Jin, leader of the Ash Rat gang. His eyes were sharp, calculating, and burning with fury.

A messenger bowed quickly before him, handing over a small, sealed note. "Sir… news from Lorum Village," the man said, voice tense.

Jin tore the paper open. His gaze sharpened as he read the words. Kuro… defeated… by an unknown stranger… and Lorum Village… protected.

A low growl escaped him. "So… Kuro failed," he muttered, his fists clenching. "No one touches my partner and survives. No one."

He stood, shadow stretching across the cracked floor, and slammed a fist onto the table. Dust and scraps of paper scattered. "Lorum Village… they will pay. And whoever dared to strike my gang… I will make them regret it."

Jin's eyes gleamed with both rage and cunning. He paced slowly, each step measured, plotting. He would not rush. Patience, strategy, and overwhelming power—that was the way of Ash Rat.

"I want revenge," he hissed, almost to himself. "And when I am done… Lorum Village will remember the name Ash Rat forever."

Outside the warehouse, the wind carried the faint sounds of Jokun City's chaos. Fires burned in distant alleys. The streets were dangerous, the gangs fractured—but Jin had a plan. Kuro's defeat was a stain he could not tolerate, and he would rise from it, stronger and deadlier than before.

And somewhere in the distance, Saito continued to help Lorum Village thrive, unaware that a storm was already brewing on the horizon.

The clearing was tense. Villagers huddled together, ropes biting into their wrists. Saito crouched behind a tree, whispering to Kaito.

"There's Johi… the armored one," he said. "I'll go for the captives. You distract him."

Kaito's knives spun lazily. "Understood."

Saito stepped into the clearing, moving with quiet precision. "Stay calm," he instructed the captives. "Follow me, and don't run."

A man whispered, trembling, "Who… who are you?"

"Someone here to get you out safely," Saito said calmly, cutting ropes.

From the corner, Johi loomed in gold armor, massive and imposing. "So… heroes arrive," he growled, raising his gauntlets. "Try to stop me if you dare."

Beside him, a smaller figure adjusted a gas mask, hands trembling as he held a satchel that hissed faintly. This was Bomb, forced by Johi to aid him. Johi shoved the satchel toward Bomb. "Do it, or they die," he barked.

"Yes… sir," Bomb muttered, voice muffled by the mask. His movements were hesitant, eyes flicking nervously between Johi and Saito.

Kaito lunged at Johi, knives flashing. The armored man swung with terrifying strength, deflecting every strike. Saito kept moving toward the captives, freeing them silently.

Johi roared, noticing Saito nearing the villagers. "Stop them! Kill them!"

Bomb hesitated. Sweat glistened on his forehead under the mask. Then, as Johi lunged at Saito, Bomb made a sudden decision. With a sharp motion, he threw a small explosive from his satchel toward Johi, creating a wall of smoke and knocking the armored man off balance.

Saito's eyes widened. "Now!" he shouted. He struck at the weak points in Johi's armor, landing a precise blow. Johi staggered, caught off guard.

Kaito regained his footing, rushing in. Together, Saito and Kaito overwhelmed Johi, forcing him to fall to the ground. The captives scrambled toward safety, hearts pounding.

Tina ran forward, hugging a child. "Thank you… thank you!" she cried.

Saito didn't even know Bomb had helped until later—he only noticed the mask and satchel had moved unexpectedly, giving him the opening. He glanced toward Bomb, who stood quietly in the smoke, avoiding Johi's fury.

Kaito muttered, shaking his head. "That masked guy… he saved you, didn't he?"

Saito's expression remained calm. "Perhaps. Timing is everything. For now, the villagers are safe. That's what matters."

From the shadows, Johi glared, furious and humiliated, but alive. Bomb stayed behind the smoke, a reluctant participant no longer—free, if cautious, from Johi's control.

The villagers had returned safely to the village, their hands still sore from the ropes, eyes wide with relief. Tina clutched her basket tightly, keeping the freed children close. The air was filled with quiet murmurs of thanks, but Saito's gaze was already scanning the forest line, cautious for any sign of Johi or his men.

From the shadows of the trees, a small, masked figure stepped forward. Bomb's gas mask glinted in the afternoon sun. He hesitated, hands slightly raised as if unsure how to approach.

Saito noticed him and tilted his head. "You're alive," he said, calm as ever, though his eyes were alert.

Bomb swallowed, his voice muffled by the mask. "I… I want to help," he said slowly. "I don't want to serve Johi anymore. I… I want to join you. Help protect people… like you do."

Saito studied him carefully, expression unreadable. "You were forced to fight for him?"

Bomb nodded. "Yes… I had no choice. But when the moment came… I helped you. I want to keep helping. I can be useful. I can fight, sabotage… anything."

Kaito glanced at him, knives still spinning lightly. "You don't talk much, do you?" he said dryly.

Bomb shook his head. "Not used to talking… just surviving."

Saito's gaze swept over him again, measuring, analyzing. "If you betray us… it won't end well. But," he said after a pause, "if your loyalty is real… we can use someone like you. You'll follow orders, stay disciplined, and protect the villagers."

Bomb nodded firmly. "I… understand. I will."

Saito gave a single nod. "Then you are in. Lorum Village is under our protection now—and so are you, as long as you fight with us."

For the first time, Bomb allowed himself a small breath of relief. He stayed behind Saito and Kaito as the villagers tended to their wounds and rebuilt the broken fences.

Tina looked at him curiously. "You… helped us? Even though you were afraid?"

Bomb's mask obscured any expression, but a faint nod was all the answer she needed. Saito's eyes flicked to her, then back to Bomb. He didn't speak—he didn't need to. Actions mattered more than words.

The sun dipped lower, painting the village in warm light. With the captives safe, Johi temporarily defeated, and a new ally joining their ranks, Lorum Village began to feel like more than just a fragile outpost—it felt like the beginning of something stronger.

Far from Lorum Village, in a hidden chamber layered with white cloth and dim candlelight, a group of figures gathered around a long table. The room smelled faintly of ink and old paper. At the head of the table sat a man in a crisp white hat, leaning back in his chair, reading a news sheet from Jokun City. His calm posture radiated authority.

"Shiro," a soft, yet fierce voice said. Lina, a half-cat beastwoman, curled around his side. Her tail flicked nervously as she clung to his arm. "What's your plan? This new gangster rising in Lorum Village… he's powerful, but is he ready for an alliance?"

Shiro didn't look up immediately, eyes scanning the headlines. "I want to see him in person," he said finally. "If he has the skill, the strategy, and the sense to protect a village under constant threat… he might be exactly who we need."

A third figure, Hector, stood nearby, a man in a sharp suit holding a briefcase. The metallic edges of the case gleamed unnaturally, hinting at its true nature. "Heard he survived Johi," Hector said. He opened the case briefly, revealing components that could transform into firearms. "I want to see his potential before making any promises."Shiro finally looked up, his white hat tilted slightly forward. His piercing eyes seemed to measure everyone in the room, yet his gaze lingered on the page detailing Lorum Village. "This one… Saito. Calm, methodical, decisive. He doesn't just fight—he protects. That's rare. I want him on our side."

Lina's ears twitched. "And if he refuses?"

Shiro smiled faintly. "Then we watch. But I suspect he will understand the value of an alliance… and the necessity of allies in a city like Jokun."

Hector nodded, closing the briefcase with a click. "If he's as capable as reports say, Saito could tip the balance in Jokun City. His village, his crew, his strategies… everything lines up."

The candlelight flickered across Shiro's face. "Prepare a meeting. I want him here. I want to see him in person. Let him know that the White Hat Alliance exists… and that together, we can control more than just one village."

Lina leaned closer, tail brushing his arm. "Do you think he's ready?"

Shiro tilted his hat, lips curling into a subtle grin. "If he isn't, we'll make him ready. But I have a feeling… he's already on the path."

Outside the chamber, the streets of Jokun City churned with crime and chaos, but in this hidden enclave, plans were quietly forming. Saito's actions in Lorum Village had drawn attention, and the White Hat Alliance had taken note. A new chapter was beginning, and alliances would shape the future of the city.

The morning sun cast long shadows over Lorum Village, now bustling with life. Children ran through the streets, merchants called out their wares, and the scent of fresh bread filled the air. For the first time in years, the village felt alive.

But the calm didn't last. Takashi hurried up the hill where Saito, Kaito, and Bomb were overseeing the villagers' safety. His face was tense.

"Saito!" he called. "I've just received news… the Ash Rat gang is on the move. They're coming this way!"

Saito turned slowly, expression calm as ever. "Ash Rat," he murmured, eyes scanning the horizon. "How many riders?"

"Several dozen… Jin is leading them himself," Takashi replied, worry evident in his voice.

Saito nodded, voice steady. "Then we'll be ready. No one leaves this village harmed. I'll protect everyone."

Tina, clutching her basket, whispered, "Please… don't let them hurt anyone."

Saito gave a faint nod, already moving. "Stay inside and keep everyone calm. The moment they arrive, we act."

Kaito's knives spun lazily in his hands. "Sounds like fun," he muttered, eyes cold and focused.

Bomb adjusted his gas mask, satchel ready, voice firm. "Let's make sure they regret ever showing up."

The dust clouds on the horizon grew larger, signaling the Ash Rat gang's advance. Jin rode at the front, his eyes blazing with fury. The clash was about to begin—but Lorum Village would not fall.

The morning air was heavy with tension. Lorum Village, now thriving, felt alive—but danger approached fast. Dust clouds on the horizon signaled Jin and his gang riding toward the village.

"They're here," Kaito said, spinning his knives, eyes cold and focused.

Jin rode forward with his men, a cruel smile on his face. "Kuro failed, and now you dare thrive here?" he yelled. "I'll burn your village to the ground!"

Saito's gaze was calm, scanning the terrain. "They're protected," he said quietly. "We won't let him touch them."

From the trees, Bomb stepped forward, mask glinting in the sun. He held a small satchel in one hand, the hiss of chemicals faint but threatening. He didn't hesitate. "Let's end this," he said, voice sharp and unwavering. "They won't hurt anyone else while I'm here."

Saito nodded. "Stick close. Work together. Jin fights smart—we fight smarter."

The battle erupted instantly. Jin's men charged, but Bomb moved like a storm, throwing smoke devices and small explosives with deadly accuracy. His movements were aggressive, precise, and unstoppable. Each explosion disrupted enemy lines, forcing them to scatter.

Kaito darted through the chaos, knives flashing, taking out the nearest attackers silently. Saito struck strategically, exploiting openings, keeping the villagers safe.

Jin himself advanced, massive and terrifying. "You think you can stop me?" he roared, swinging a huge blade. Saito rolled under the swing and jabbed at the exposed side of Jin's armor.

Bomb didn't hesitate. He lunged forward, tossing a smoke bomb directly at Jin's feet and rolling it under the armored man, forcing him to stumble. Then he slammed a small explosive near the remaining gang members, clearing a path with brutal efficiency.

"Move!" Bomb shouted to Saito and Kaito, commanding the battlefield with authority. "Now's the opening!"

Saito struck, precise and lethal, hitting a weak point in Jin's armor. The gang leader staggered, furious but overpowered. Kaito followed, landing precise strikes to finish off the remaining attackers.

Jin roared one last time, then collapsed, defeated. The remaining Ash Rat men fled into the forest.

Tina rushed forward, hugging Saito's legs. "You… you saved us!" she cried.

Saito's gaze swept over Bomb. "You acted decisively," he said, calm but approving.

Bomb's mask hid his expression, but his posture was confident, unshaken. "That's how it's done," he said flatly, already scanning for the next threat. "Don't ever let anyone underestimate me."

Kaito gave a low whistle. "Finally… someone who fights like they mean it."

The villagers slowly emerged from hiding, relief and gratitude in their eyes. Under Saito's leadership—and with Bomb's fierce, unwavering presence—Lorum Village had survived Ash Rat. Stronger, safer, and ready for the challenges ahead.

Next day the villagers is in peace before the group of white hat enter. All people shocked see them and afraid and Bomb nearby step in said "what do you want" and Hector said "I want to see your leader" and Saito came said I'm here and Shiro step out from group said "well well the famous Saito".

In house Saito ask "why you all here". And Shiro said "heard news you defeat Johi and Ash Rat".then snap his finger and Lina walk to Saito hold chest of coins and Shiro said "this is for defeat our problem. That Jin always making mess in my territory but you just remove him".and Saito said "but this isn't just why you here" and Shiro nod said "I want to make alliance with you" and Saito ask "why" then Lina stand up fur perked in anger said "just do what he said" and Shiro said "relax my love" then pet Lina and Lina relaxed.then Saito look at his crew and they all nod in approve and Saito agreed. And Shiro stand up draw his hand said "it's a pleasure to work with you Saito. Hope the future result is excellent" and Saito shake his hand and with that the Alliance between Saito crew and White Hat is made.
