Chapter 4 - Deck Building (Part 1)

"This door is the newbie gift pack?"

Without waiting for the program's reply, Luo Bai asked with a smile.

[Since you've seen it]

[You can go in and take a look]

"Oh?" Luo Bai, with a hint of suspicion, slowly pushed open the wooden door.

He planned to peek inside first before deciding whether to go in.

"Whoosh!"

The wooden door opened, revealing a black hole. A powerful gravitational pull directly into the doorway.

"Splash!"

A loud splashing sound.

"Holy crap..." Luo Bai was astonished by what he saw.

He was standing on a body of water, yet he didn't sink. The water didn't wet his shoes; it felt like walking on jelly.

All around him was the vast darkness of night.

A full moon hung high in the sky, casting a layer of white light on the water's surface.

Stepping on the shimmering moonlight reflected on the water, ripples spread beneath his feet. The surface reflected the starry sky and the bright moon, gleaming silver in the darkness. A gentle breeze stirred the water, creating ripples, like the ebb and flow of his thoughts.

"What is this..."

Just as he was lost in thought, gazing at the moon,

"Meow~" A familiar meow came from behind him.

Luo Bai was startled and turned to see an orange cat sitting on the water. His face lit up with joy: "Teacher Tony!"

Teacher Tony seemed startled and turned to run.

"Don't run!"

Luo Bai called after it, chasing after it.

Chasing and chasing...

A card shop suddenly appeared before him.

Shop name: Sanbai Card Room.

A surge of joy and surprise welled up in Luo Bai's heart. He quickened his pace, as if eager to reach that familiar and warm presence. He followed the large, fat cat into the shop, a familiar scent wafting towards him.

A sense of security filled his heart.

"Haha, the shop came along too!"

Luo Bai laughed loudly. He had grown up in the card shop; it was his home, a place that held all his stories and memories.

He was extremely satisfied with this newbie gift pack!

"System, where is this?"

[This is the Unbounded Realm - Rebirth Shop]

[You have absolute control over this place]

"The Unbounded Realm?"

"It looks more like the Dark World, hehehe…" Luo Bai joked, looking at the boundless darkness outside the shop.

[Do you remember now?]

[The Unbounded Realm has indeed been invaded by the Dark World]

"You're getting carried away with this conversation, aren't you?"

Luo Bai treated it as the system chatting with him casually, without delving into any deeper discussion. The Unbounded Realm and the Dark World were just card series from Yu-Gi-Oh!

He hurriedly sat down in front of the shopkeeper's computer.

His fingers flew across the keyboard as he typed, "Can this connect to the other world's network?"

[Yes]

[I have ten minutes left before I have to force hibernation. Do you have any other questions?]

"Huh?"

"Wait, wait..."

"I have so many questions!"

"System, you're so short-lived!"

Luo Bai quickly opened a new client application on his desktop named [Shopkeeper].

There were three interfaces.

The leftmost one was his personal attribute panel:

[Permission Level: Beginner]

[Shopkeeper Talent: Guardian]

[Benevolence Points: 400]

[Affinity: 3.2]

[Shop Remaining Time: 3 hours]

...

[Monthly Revenue: 0]

[Location: Biantana - Bianyuelong Fortress]

[Remaining Assets: 10.88 Carat Negative Cubic Crystal]

[Bound Soul Card: Reversal of the Realm and the Underworld]

"So much I don't understand..." Luo Bai murmured softly, glancing at the description, a cloud of worry clouding his brow.

That's the downside of transmigrating into a physical body; without the memories of the natives, he had to slowly explore the new world.

"System, what is Yina?"

He discovered that many things on this planet called Biantana were related to the word Yina.

[You've even forgotten Yina?]

[This should be common knowledge rooted in the souls of the Biantana people.]

[Or perhaps...]

The system paused.

[You truly are an interesting soul.]

The riddle-maker said a few words, and the system explained to Luo Bai what Yina was.

In layman's terms, it's a new energy source.

1. Technologically, Yina can be converted into any kind of energy.

2. Yina can reside within a human body, and its stored points determine the [Card Master Rank] (from Novice to Degenerate), while the inflow and outflow rate determines the [Card Master Affinity] (from 1 to 10).

3. Controlling [Card Spirits] requires Yina.

4. Yina's solid form, [Negative Cube Crystal], is a global hard currency; 1 carat of negative cube crystal guarantees 1 million [Gold Points]. It is also an essential energy material for creating [Cards] and the power source for Yina technology.

5. Only the [Divine Star Tree] or its branches [Wood Spirits] can produce Yina.

...

He's been talking for almost ten minutes!

It seems there's no end to the information about Yina.

In short, everyone in Biantana is a mage, and they possess a [blue bar] called Yina.

"Stop, stop, stop!" Luo Bai interrupted.

"Simply put,"

"Rank is equivalent to attack power and spell power."

"Yina points are equivalent to mana."

"Affinity is equivalent to skill cooldown and mana regeneration rate, right?"

[Unable to parse shopkeeper's language]

[The program will enter hibernation in thirty seconds. Do you have any further questions?]

Upon hearing this, Luo Bai fell silent.

He really had too many questions. He came here alone, unfamiliar with the place, the card shop was closing in three hours, how was he going to make cards, how was he going to increase his Yinna points, and what would he do when he returned to the real world...?

There were so many questions like these.

Luo Bai thought a lot; the newly learned terms flowed through his mind like a river.

So many questions urgently needed answers...

He pondered for a moment, then slowly opened his mouth, his voice hoarse and low, as if bidding farewell to an old friend.

"System, will we... meet again?"

A question of unclear meaning wasted the system's last thirty seconds.

[If I could]

[I hope we never see each other again]

The mechanical system voice echoed in the night waters, ethereal and clear, before dissipating, leaving ripples.

His only friend was gone too.

"Teacher Tony!" Luo Bai picked up the orange cat and petted it passionately.

"Now only you can talk to me, you big fat cat."

After joking, he switched to the second interface of the [Shopkeeper].

What came into view was a deck-building device, next to which was a prominent [Monster Duel] button.

"Oh—"

Luo Bai didn't quite understand what "Yi Na" meant.

But if you talked about Yu-Gi-Oh! or playing cards, he wouldn't be sleepy at all.

"Why is the deck-building device empty…"

After clicking around a few times, Luo Bai found the deck-building device had no cards and was frantically displaying the following prompts:

[Please scan Magic Cards]

"I just opened, where would I get Magic Cards?"

"How about playing cards?" Luo Bai muttered to himself.

Whether out of a joke or sheer stubbornness, he actually took out his deck and placed a playing card in the scanner.

"What if it actually works?"

[Ding, blasphemous card detected]

[Scan successful - Dinomorphia Kentregina]

A series of notifications popped up on his computer desktop.

"Holy crap, it really works!"

Luo Bai exclaimed in surprise, a bold idea rising in his mind.

"Is it possible?"

"In this new duelling world."

"[Tearlaments Kitkallos]is not banned…"

"Holographic projection, materialization…"

"Wife!"

Luo Bai shouted, rushing upstairs to search his [Tearlaments] deck.

----------------------

Don't freak out, he seals the tear deck after a bit.
