Chapter 50: So it's a Descendant of Kaguya
"Orochimaru, just how long are you going to stay lost in your delusions!"
On the other side of the battlefield, Jiraiya and Orochimaru seemed to be getting truly heated.
The two of them were too familiar with one another; in a battle like this, neither could really gain an advantage.
After dodging a swarm of biting venomous snakes, Jiraiya couldn't help but shout loudly.
"And what is with this organization of yours? What exactly are you all trying to do?"
"You talk far too much!"
Orochimaru spoke with disdain, forming a hand seal with one hand as countless venomous snakes surged from all directions once more.
Under his control, sharp swords emerged from the mouths of these snakes, looking exceptionally grim under the sunlight!
"The things I want to do could never be understood by a fellow like you. Can't you just stop bothering me?"
"Tch."
Jiraiya watched the newly emerged snakes, leaping into the air and instantly clapping his hands together.
"Fire Release: Flame Bullet!"
With the surge of his Chakra, the Fire Release mixed with Toad Oil instantly transformed into a sea of flames.
Those venomous snakes were burnt to ashes by the intense fire before they could even get close!
Seeing such flames, Orochimaru also raised an eyebrow and then leaped into the air.
However, as soon as he reached mid-air, he suddenly discovered countless white hairs sweeping toward him.
"How boring."
Orochimaru licked his lips and directly raised his arm, giving it a heavy swing.
Invisible wind blades surrounded him, severing all of the white hairs!
Yet as he landed, his brow suddenly furrowed because the ground beneath his feet had turned into a swamp.
"Yellow Springs Swamp? It seems you've made some progress."
"I said, I won't let you escape."
Jiraiya's voice quietly sounded beside him, and his tone seemed exceptionally serious.
"What exactly is this organization of yours? What is your goal? And why did you join it?"
"You really do know me well..."
Facing these three questions, Orochimaru couldn't help but laugh.
"Regarding the first two, I'm sorry, but I won't say. As for myself..."
As he spoke, he turned his head and looked at Jiraiya leisurely.
"Naturally, I have my own purposes. After all, within this organization, there's a very interesting pair of eyes."
"Eyes?"
Jiraiya was stunned for a moment, but in the next instant, he suddenly found that the Orochimaru before him had turned into a pile of mud.
"Earth Clone? Truly worthy of you."
"You flatter me."
Orochimaru's figure slowly appeared on the other side, licking his tongue and speaking nonchalantly.
"Alright, enough has been said of what should and shouldn't be said. It's time I got serious."
"My thoughts exactly..."
Jiraiya also nodded solemnly. Their fight just now had been lively, but they both knew it.
Neither of them was actually being very serious!
Although Jiraiya was worried about Kakashi and the others, he could tell through observation.
Kakashi and his team were in a bit of a mess, but they were holding on, and that Hyuga Clan kid could provide reinforcements at any time!
To be honest, he hadn't expected that sharp-tongued kid to be so strong.
But this was a good thing; it allowed him to focus on dealing with Orochimaru with peace of mind!
Lost in thought, they held their breath and stared at each other, ready to strike at any moment.
However, in the next moment, both of them paused simultaneously and then involuntarily looked up at the sky.
"This is..."
Jiraiya's expression was a bit strange, but he didn't notice that Orochimaru's face across from him had changed drastically...
...
"You few are quite tenacious, but..."
In the sky not far away, Sasori was controlling the Third Kazekage to carry himself through the air.
Black Iron Sand surrounded him, and dozens of Puppets were poised for action.
Looking down at the trio of Kakashi, he gave a cold laugh.
"Don't bother thinking about reinforcements from that Hyuga kid. You'd better just obediently become my Puppets!"
He could also pay attention to Hyuga Makoto's battle. Although the fight was moving further away, he had noticed Biwa Jūzō's miserable state.
He was actually a bit puzzled as to how Biwa Jūzō, one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, could be beaten so badly by a kid from the Hyuga Clan.
But he couldn't be bothered to think too much; resolving the situation here as quickly as possible was the best choice.
Vrrr—
Under his control, all the Puppets moved toward Kakashi and the others again, and the Iron Sand also condensed in the air.
"What a pain..."
Kakashi watched all this with his Sharingan, his gaze locked on Sasori in the sky. After a moment of silence, he whispered.
"According to the plan I just mentioned, do you understand what to do?"
"I understand."
Uchiha Itachi nodded, but Yamato was somewhat doubtful.
"Captain, are you sure you can distract that guy?"
"I'm not sure, but we have no other choice."
Kakashi shook his head, watching the Puppets and immediately shouting loudly.
"Now, move!"
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
Uchiha Itachi completed his hand seals in an instant, and a massive fireball whistled toward the swarm of Puppets in the sky.
His mastery of Fire Release was extremely high, and the enormous fireball instantly engulfed all the Puppets.
However, just as the Puppets were being ignited, the Iron Sand in the sky transformed into countless senbon.
"Magnet Release: Iron Sand Drizzle!"
These senbon dispersed the flames, piercing through the Puppets and heading straight for the three of them.
But this was the exact moment Kakashi had been waiting for!
"I hope this works..."
Kakashi muttered inwardly, then pressed both hands onto the ground.
"Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall!"
In an instant, a massive earthen wall rose from the ground, blocking the path of the countless senbon.
"Hmph, how naive..."
Seeing this, a look of disdain appeared on Sasori's face. He increased his Chakra output to ensure the senbon would penetrate the Earth-Style Wall!
However, the moment the Earth-Style Wall fully rose, Sasori suddenly froze.
"This is?"
Because he saw, to his shock, a carved image engraved on that damned earthen wall.
The image depicted his parents holding him as a young child!
At this moment, Sasori became dazed, and the dense swarm of senbon lost control because of his distraction.
But at that same instant, a massive vine smashed the carving to pieces.
Kakashi, with lightning brewing in his hand, was rapidly moving up along the vine and finally leaped into the air!
"I see your core..."
Under the reflection of the Chidori, Kakashi's Sharingan was cold and crimson.
"Chidori!"
"You bastard..."
However, Sasori snapped back to his senses at that moment. Watching the approaching Chidori, his gaze became incredibly distorted and ferocious.
He had no intention of dodging at all; instead, he instantly manipulated all the Iron Sand, frantically blasting it toward both himself and Kakashi!
"A guy as utterly shameless as you—even if I die, I'll send you to Hell!"
"..."
Seeing Sasori's complete readiness for mutual destruction, cold sweat broke out on Kakashi's forehead.
The development of the situation seemed much more serious than he had imagined?
But now it seemed he had no choice; he could only brace himself and go for it!
"Eh?"
But just then, he discovered to his astonishment that the Iron Sand seemed to have frozen.
They were fixed in the sky; though dense, they no longer advanced even an inch!
And Sasori's eyes, at this moment, became filled with incredible horror and helplessness.
He had encountered this feeling before—it was when that Mysterious Person appeared last time!
"Could it be that guy..."
But before he could think further, he suddenly found a distorted space appearing in front of him.
Along with the appearance of this distorted space, a black sphere flew over in an instant!
Following it was an indifferent voice.
"I wondered why it was so strange. So it's a descendant of Kaguya..."
As soon as the voice fell, a white light rapidly expanded, and a piercing roar suddenly erupted at that moment!
Strangely, however, this roar was like an illusion.
Clearly, a mushroom cloud could be seen rising, yet it seemed to cause no damage at all.
Only in mid-air, a guy wearing an Orange Swirl Mask and a Pitcher Plant were falling down miserably..
