Chapter 81 - Chapter 81 - After Infinity

The void didn't collapse this time.

It unfolded.

Slowly.

Like a door opening instead of a world breaking.

The endless layers of time drifted apart—

Not fighting.

Not merging.

Just… existing.

Peacefully.

Ethan stood at the center of it.

No pressure.

No resistance.

For the first time since everything began—

Time wasn't pushing back.

Liya looked around in awe.

"…It's calm."

Mira stretched her arms.

"Yeah."

"Which is somehow more terrifying."

The chronal officer scanned the space—

Though her device was barely functional here.

"…The system isn't forcing a structure anymore."

Aria smiled softly.

"That's because there isn't one."

Silence.

Ethan exhaled slowly.

"…We actually did it."

No one corrected him this time.

Because it was true.

The presence—

That massive, incomprehensible force—

Was gone.

Not destroyed.

Not defeated.

Just… changed.

Watching instead of controlling.

Mira tilted her head.

"So what now?"

Ethan looked at the drifting timelines.

Each one glowing faintly.

Each one real.

"…Now they run."

"On their own."

Liya stepped closer to him.

"…And us?"

He looked at her.

"…We go back."

Mira raised an eyebrow.

"That simple?"

The officer shook her head.

"It's never simple."

Aria walked forward.

"…There's one thing you need to understand."

Ethan frowned.

"What?"

She looked around the infinite space.

"You didn't just change time."

"…You changed existence."

Mira smirked.

"Yeah, we noticed."

Aria shook her head slightly.

"No."

"You don't get it yet."

She pointed at the timelines.

"Before, there was one reality."

"Now there are many."

"Not just possibilities—"

"…actual worlds."

The officer's eyes widened.

"…Parallel continuities."

Liya whispered,

"…Multiple real futures."

Ethan looked at the glowing paths again.

"…So every choice creates a real outcome now."

Aria nodded.

"Yes."

"Every decision splits reality."

Mira let out a low whistle.

"Okay."

"That's… a lot."

The officer looked serious.

"That means consequences aren't erased anymore."

"No resets."

"No corrections."

"Everything that happens—"

"…happens somewhere."

Silence.

Ethan absorbed that.

"…So nothing is undone."

Liya squeezed his hand gently.

"…That makes every moment matter more."

Mira added,

"And every mistake permanent."

"Comforting."

Aria smiled faintly.

"That's the price of freedom."

The void began shifting again.

But not violently.

Not dangerously.

Just… guiding them.

A path forming beneath their feet.

Leading somewhere.

Back.

Ethan looked ahead.

"…It's sending us home."

The officer nodded.

"The timeline is stabilizing around us."

Mira stretched again.

"Good."

"I miss gravity."

They started walking.

Step by step—

Through the space between everything.

As they moved, the infinite timelines slowly faded behind them.

Not gone.

Just… out of reach.

Liya looked back one last time.

"…Do you think we'll ever see this again?"

Ethan didn't look back.

"…I hope not."

Mira laughed.

"Same."

Aria walked beside them quietly.

But her expression had changed.

More distant.

More… aware.

Ethan noticed.

"…Aria?"

She looked at him.

"…Yeah?"

"You're coming with us, right?"

She hesitated.

Just for a second.

"…I don't know."

Liya frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Aria looked down at her hands.

They flickered slightly.

Like a signal losing connection.

"I'm part of the new time."

"Not the old world."

The officer's expression darkened.

"…She might not fully exist in a stable timeline."

Mira blinked.

"…You're saying she could disappear?"

Aria smiled softly.

"…Maybe."

Liya immediately shook her head.

"No."

"You're coming with us."

Ethan stepped closer.

"…We'll figure it out."

Aria looked at him—

And for a moment—

She looked like a normal kid again.

"…You always say that."

He smiled slightly.

"…And it usually works."

The path beneath them began to glow brighter.

The exit.

Reality.

Just a few steps away.

Aria stopped walking.

Ethan turned.

"…Aria?"

She shook her head gently.

"…This is where I stop."

Liya's grip tightened.

"No."

"You don't have to—"

Aria stepped back.

The light around her flickering more now.

"You created me."

"But I belong out here."

"In the space between moments."

Mira crossed her arms.

"…That's a very poetic way of saying goodbye."

Aria smiled at her.

"You'll see me again."

"Maybe not like this."

"But I'll be there."

The officer whispered,

"…In the gaps between seconds."

Aria nodded.

"Yes."

She looked at Ethan one last time.

"…Take care of the timeline."

He nodded slowly.

"…Take care of yourself."

Her form began to fade.

Piece by piece.

Like a second ending.

"…I am the second."

And then—

She was gone.

Silence.

Liya looked down.

"…She's really gone."

Ethan shook his head slightly.

"…No."

"She's everywhere now."

Mira sighed.

"…I hate when you get philosophical."

The light ahead flared.

Pulling them forward.

Back into reality.

Back into a world that now held infinite versions of itself.

As they stepped through—

The void disappeared.

And time began again.

But this time—

It didn't follow a single path.

It branched.

Endlessly.

And somewhere…

Between one second and the next—

Aria still existed. ⏳
