Senba glared fiercely at Uchiha Fugaku.
This guy is seriously annoying.
No wonder so many people in the village dislike the Uchiha Clan even more than they dislike others. They have no strength, yet they act arrogant everywhere.
I really want to beat him up.
Suppressing the urge to punch someone, Senba lowered his voice and whispered to Uchiha Mikoto,
"It's like this…"
"Recently, an Anbu Ninja said he wanted to take me as his apprentice."
"I've been struggling over whether I should agree."
"Mikoto, what do you think?"
"An Anbu Ninja?"
Uchiha Mikoto blinked in confusion.
"I remember that Anbu are the people who handle special missions, right?"
"With your background, Brother Senba, you could easily apprentice under the Third Hokage or other powerful experts."
"Why would you want to apprentice under an Anbu Ninja?"
Honestly, she really didn't think much of an Anbu teacher.
"I know," Senba replied while shaking his head.
"But that Anbu Ninja is different."
"He actually has real skill."
That was the reason he had been so conflicted.
To be honest, Senba looked down on ordinary people.
Even the current Third Hokage didn't seem particularly impressive in his eyes.
If he was going to take a master, then he wanted someone truly special.
And Sani just happened to meet that requirement.
The problem was—
He had only met the guy once.
He had no idea what kind of person Sani really was.
Rushing into an apprenticeship like that definitely wasn't wise.
"Real skill?" Mikoto asked doubtfully.
"How skilled can an Anbu Ninja really be?"
"If he's as strong as Konoha's White Fang, then becoming his apprentice would make sense."
"But does he really have that kind of strength?"
Hearing this, Senba's eyes suddenly lit up.
"That's right!"
"If he really is strong, then there's nothing wrong with apprenticing under him."
"Thanks, Mikoto!"
It had to be said—
They were still just children.
They judged people almost entirely by strength.
Not one of them considered things like personality, morality, or whether the other person was dangerous.
If Isamu were truly a villain, these little brats would probably get sold by him and still help count the money afterward.
"Oh, right."
"This is a secret. I've only told you."
"You absolutely can't tell anyone else."
As he spoke, Senba casually patted Mikoto on the shoulder.
"U-Um… okay…"
Mikoto's face instantly turned red.
She had originally planned to persuade him not to do it, but after hearing that Senba had only shared the secret with her, her thoughts completely drifted away.
Brother Senba only told me…
Does that mean he…
Meanwhile, Uchiha Fugaku nearly exploded with rage.
Seeing Mikoto's shy expression, he looked at Senba as if he wanted to devour him alive.
Damn Senju Senba!
How dare you flirt with my Mikoto?!
I'm absolutely not done with you!
After confirming that Mikoto would keep the secret, Senba happily ran toward the Ninja Academy.
Now that he had figured things out, he suddenly felt refreshed and full of energy again.
After school ended that afternoon, Senba immediately rushed out of the academy and headed straight for the meeting place in the back mountains.
Meanwhile, Isamu had already been waiting there for quite some time.
Today, instead of secretly following Senba around, he remained in the forest the entire time.
He genuinely wanted to see what choice his son would make.
If Senba couldn't even grasp an opportunity placed directly in front of him, then Isamu would need to reconsider how he planned to teach him.
A cautious person and someone willing to take risks were completely different.
"Isamu, the little brat is rushing over here," White Zetsu said with a grin as he emerged from the ground.
"Looks like you didn't scare him away yesterday."
"It's pretty interesting that he actually dared to come back."
Leaning lazily against a tree trunk, Isamu smiled faintly.
As expected of my son.
This willingness to take risks alone is enough to make me proud.
If he were overly cautious and timid, I'd be truly disappointed.
Fortunately, Senba isn't like that.
"Hey! I'm here!"
"Where are you?! Come out already!"
Arriving at yesterday's location and seeing no one around, Senba shouted loudly into the forest.
"What do you mean 'hey'?"
"Didn't I tell you my name is Sani?"
"You really have no manners at all."
Isamu jumped down from the tree and looked at Senba with narrowed eyes and a smile.
"But since you came here today, I assume you've already decided to become my apprentice?"
"Honestly, I'm surprised you figured it out so quickly."
"I've already thought about it," Senba said seriously.
"If you have strength comparable to Konoha's White Fang, then I'll become your apprentice."
"You know Konoha's White Fang, right?"
"Konoha's White Fang?"
Isamu raised an eyebrow in surprise.
He originally thought the kid had already made up his mind.
Instead, it turned out that Senba had come to test him.
That was unexpected.
Then Isamu rolled his eyes and burst into laughter.
"Hahaha!"
"Konoha's White Fang?"
"You mean Sakumo Hatake?"
"He's just someone I defeated before."
"The fact that you're comparing me to him only proves your vision is too narrow."
A defeated opponent?
Senba immediately rolled his eyes.
This guy is bragging again.
If you could defeat the White Fang, you wouldn't be some random unknown Anbu Ninja.
There's no way I'm believing that.
Seeing Senba's skeptical expression, Isamu continued calmly,
"Kid, don't look so doubtful."
"Not only Sakumo Hatake."
"Even the Sannin and the Third Hokage are all my defeated opponents too."
To be fair, he technically wasn't lying.
The real him had indeed defeated all of them before.
Whether anyone believed it, however, was another matter entirely.
"Why don't you just say the First Hokage was your defeated opponent too?" Senba replied with a speechless expression.
"Seriously, stop bragging already."
"Hm?"
"How did you know I defeated the First Hokage too?"
"That's actually impressive."
"You guessed correctly."
Isamu immediately gave him a thumbs-up.
As expected of my son.
Smart.
Very smart.
"…Lunatic."
Senba stared at him as though looking at a crazy person.
At this point, he was genuinely beginning to suspect that Sani had escaped from some mental hospital.
Or maybe he had forgotten to take his medicine before coming outside.
This guy was simply too ridiculous.
What a waste of time.
I actually spent the entire night thinking seriously about a lunatic.
Without hesitation, Senba turned around and started walking away.
"Lu-Lu-Lunatic?!"
The corners of Isamu's mouth twitched violently.
So his son didn't think he was impressive—
He thought he was insane.
But after thinking about it carefully, Isamu realized it made sense.
No normal person would believe those claims.
Still, even if he didn't believe him, was there really a need to call him a lunatic?
This brat was seriously infuriating.
Suppressing the urge to beat up his own son, Isamu forced himself to speak calmly.
"I was joking."
"You kids these days really can't take a joke."
Hearing that, Senba finally stopped walking.
Turning back, he stared directly at Isamu with a serious expression.
"If you can't prove that you're truly powerful…"
"Then I will never become your apprentice."
