Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 – The People Who Changed My Direction

After graduating from school, my life did not immediately become better.

I was still the same quiet young man who spent most of his time with a small group of friends.

Ironically, many people in the village called my friends troublemakers. They were known for hanging out late at night and living freely without thinking too much about the future.

But somehow, they always respected me.

Even though I was quiet and different from them, they treated me like a brother.

Among them was my close friend, Aan. We often spent our days together, wandering around the village without any clear direction.

One day, life slowly began to change when we met a kind woman named Mrs. Rini.

Mrs. Rini was a businesswoman who owned a small shop in our area. Her husband worked abroad, so she managed the shop mostly by herself while raising her two children—a boy and a girl.

For reasons I still cannot fully explain, she trusted us.

Every day, Aan and I helped open and close her shop. Sometimes we carried goods, cleaned the place, or simply helped with small tasks.

Instead of treating us like troublesome boys, Mrs. Rini treated us like her own children.

That kindness slowly changed something inside me.

For the first time in my life, I began to see a different world—the world of business, responsibility, and hard work.

Day by day, I learned small lessons just by watching how she managed her shop.

Time passed, and little by little, we began to grow up.

The days of simply hanging out without purpose started to feel empty.

One night, we sat together as usual. But this time, the conversation was different.

We asked ourselves a simple question:

How long are we going to live like this?

That question changed everything.

One by one, my friends began to choose their own paths. Some started working, some left the village, and some tried to build their own future.

For the first time, we were no longer just boys looking for fun.

We were young men searching for our own identity
