Chapter 172 - Chapter 172: Bad Father

Several days had passed since Deya learned the truth. She saw how much the news had hit her brother — because the person behind it all had been his friend. Even Deya didn't know what to do in such a situation.

Not knowing who to talk to, she went to Violet. The girl was sitting at the bar — everyone was now at the "Devils" base.

"I want to thank you again. It was you who pulled my brother back from the brink."

"Honestly, I'm not sure that's something to be thankful for," Violet replied. "Seeing him like this, I think I only condemned him to suffering. When my sister died, I blamed him for a long time. It took me years to understand that he had it much worse."

"I want you to talk to him."

"I can do that, but I don't think it will help. You understand that once those three die, he'll follow them. I don't think there's anything in this world that can hold him back right now."

"I understand. I don't have much time left, but I'll still try to come up with something."

While those dear to his heart thought about how to keep Ray in this world, he met with Tyler's mother. Yuno accompanied him — if Deya still held out hope of prolonging his life, Yuno had already given up and was now trying to spend as much time as possible with her beloved.

"Susan, I know this will sound strange, but we're alike. Even though you love your children, you turned out to be a bad mother. I also love my children and women, but I turned out to be a worthless husband, a bad father and brother. You still have a daughter for whom you can become a good mother. The 'Devils' have good doctors, and if we come to an agreement and you're very lucky, you'll have a chance to become a good grandmother."

"What do you want?" Susan asked.

"I want you to become the president of this country. The truth is, you'll only be a puppet, but you'll be the final element that allows me to build a happy future for several generations. Initially, the 'Devils' were just my tool for revenge, but among us there are truly many who are ready to give their lives for a happy life for future generations."
