Chapter 38 - Chapter 38 – One Man Massacre

Whoosh!

Boom!

The instant the car smashed into the battlefield, Rorschach followed right behind it. Using the incredible strength in his legs, he launched himself forward in a tremendous leap that carried him several meters through the air.

His figure cut across the battlefield like a falling meteor.

When he landed, it felt as though a god of war had descended.

A special agent beneath him didn't even have time to react. Rorschach's foot came down directly onto the man's chest with crushing force.

The impact drove the agent flat against the ground.

Boom!

At the same time, Rorschach casually threw a punch at another agent nearby. The blow connected with the man's body like a cannon firing.

The unfortunate agent was literally launched through the air.

His body flew backward at terrifying speed and slammed hard into the wall beside the road. A burst of blood exploded outward.

When his head struck the wall, it shattered like a smashed watermelon.

But in truth, the man had already died the moment Rorschach's fist hit him.

The blow itself had been fatal.

Rorschach's terrifying strength immediately sent a wave of panic through the remaining agents.

Every single one of them felt their scalps go numb.

"Ahhh!"

One agent finally snapped under the pressure. Letting out a feral roar, he raised his weapon and began firing wildly at Rorschach.

But the moment the bullet left the chamber—

Rorschach was already gone.

Whoosh!

His body blurred as he dashed sideways, effortlessly evading the shot.

The agent's bullet sliced through empty air.

Boom!

Before the man could react, a terrifying force slammed into his body.

He felt himself lift off the ground.

And then—

Everything went dark.

His consciousness vanished instantly.

A loud crash echoed through the battlefield as Rorschach grabbed the shattered car door from the vehicle he had kicked earlier.

The thick metal panel became a makeshift shield in his hands.

Without slowing down, he rushed straight back into the cluster of agents.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Gunshots rang out frantically.

Mixed with them were screams of terror and pain.

With the car door acting as a shield, Rorschach's advance became even more unstoppable. Even if a bullet managed to slip past his movements, the metal door would immediately block the shot.

The agents' desperate resistance meant nothing.

Rorschach carved through their formation like a blade cutting through grass.

In the midst of their gunfire, he charged in and out again and again.

Seven times in.

Seven times out.

Within just a few minutes, the battlefield had become completely silent.

The only person still standing was Rorschach.

Every single special agent had fallen.

Their bodies lay scattered across the ground like discarded trash.

In the quiet aftermath, the only sound came from the walkie-talkies carried by a few of the agents.

"Wade, respond immediately! What's happening on site?"

"Wade, answer if you can hear me!"

"Smith, respond!"

William Stryker's anxious voice crackled through the radios.

Rorschach smiled faintly.

He walked over, picked up one of the walkie-talkies from a fallen agent, and spoke calmly into it.

"Wade is dead."

There was a brief pause before he continued.

"It won't be long before you go down and keep him company."

Crunch.

Before Stryker could reply, Rorschach crushed the device in his hand.

The radio shattered into pieces.

Inside the temporary command center, Stryker's face turned extremely ugly.

His expression looked as if someone had slapped him several times in a row.

Even without further confirmation, he already understood what had happened.

Every single agent he had sent out was gone.

They had all been wiped out.

He had underestimated the enemy.

Rorschach had already killed Sabretooth and easily crushed the werewolf earlier. Stryker had believed he was taking the threat seriously enough.

That was why he sent Wade.

And not just Wade—he had also deployed an entire twenty-man special operations squad.

That level of force was anything but weak.

It was overwhelming.

At least, it should have been.

And yet how long had it been since the operation began?

Not even that long.

And everything was gone.

A deep sense of fear began creeping into Stryker's heart.

The more he thought about Rorschach's power, the more certain he became of one thing.

Only the Weapon X project could deal with that monster.

Weapon X had to be completed as soon as possible.

Stryker silently made the decision.

But as soon as the thought settled in his mind, a headache followed immediately.

At present, there were only two viable candidates for Weapon X.

Logan.

And Wade.

Wade had already agreed to undergo the experiment voluntarily. That part was easy. The procedure could have begun at any time.

Logan, however, was a completely different problem.

There was no way he would willingly participate in the transformation.

Weapon X experiments required the subject's consent. The process couldn't simply be forced on someone.

Unfortunately, Logan had long harbored deep distrust toward Stryker.

No matter what he was offered, he would refuse.

That was why Stryker had carefully arranged an elaborate plan.

Using Silver Fox and Sabretooth, he had constructed a situation designed to manipulate Logan emotionally—a trap that would eventually lead Logan to volunteer for the experiment himself.

Everything had been progressing smoothly.

Until Sabretooth was killed by Rorschach.

And now Wade had also died.

Stryker felt a crushing headache building behind his eyes.

But now wasn't the time to dwell on it.

He immediately began issuing orders, calling the agents around him as he prepared to evacuate the temporary command center.

How to deal with the aftermath of this disaster would have to be considered later.

But one thing was certain.

The coming days were going to be extremely busy for him.

Elsewhere.

"I hope I'm not too late."

Rorschach pulled off his blood-stained coat and muttered quietly to himself.

Although the fight with Wade and the agents hadn't taken long, transportation in this era wasn't exactly convenient.

Taxis weren't easy to find.

Sometimes you could stand around waiting for one for ages.

And to make matters worse, Rorschach had deliberately chosen an extremely remote area for the fight so he could "stretch his muscles" without interference.

Of course, several vehicles belonging to Stryker's agents were parked nearby.

They were intact and perfectly drivable.

But Rorschach had absolutely no intention of touching them.

There were dozens of dead bodies lying across the road, and the victims were military agents.

Driving away in one of their vehicles would be asking for trouble.

So Howard Stark would just have to suffer a little inconvenience.

After all, the famous playboy had spent his whole life making other people wait for him.

He probably had never experienced being the one left waiting.

This could count as a fresh life experience for him.

Rorschach tossed his coat onto the ground and turned to leave.

But after taking a few steps, he suddenly remembered something.

He turned back, picked up the coat again, and walked toward the car he had previously used like a hammer.

The vehicle's fuel tank had already been damaged.

Gasoline was leaking onto the ground.

Rorschach soaked the coat with the fuel.

Then a thin heat ray shot from his eyes.

The coat instantly ignited.

Perfect.

No evidence left behind.

At that moment, Rorschach's super hearing picked up the sound of footsteps approaching in the distance.

Without wasting another second, he moved.

His body blurred with super speed.

In the blink of an eye, he disappeared from the scene.

He still had an appointment to keep with Howard Stark.

As for Stryker?

For now, Rorschach pushed that matter to the back of his mind.

After all, he hadn't unlocked the ability to fly yet, and even his super hearing couldn't reach far enough to locate Stryker.

Tracking him down right now simply wasn't possible.

But that wasn't a real problem.

Rorschach already knew that Stryker operated a secret island base where numerous mutants were imprisoned.

Once the new Cerebro system was completed at Xavier Manor, finding Stryker would be effortless.

And when that day came—

Rorschach would destroy the man's entire nest.

The plan was already forming in his mind.
