"Compared to what's coming in the future—Earth constantly being attacked and invaded by alien forces—I'd rather see the world change under my hands."
Leon leaned back slightly as the thought formed in his mind. The corners of his mouth slowly lifted into a faint smile.
"Right now humanity is still busy fighting itself. No unity, no real progress. Evolution has practically stalled, and mutants—most of them—are nothing but people with power and no vision."
He let out a quiet laugh.
"In that case, I'll become the catalyst for humanity's evolution."
The idea itself was simple. Instead of constantly clashing with governments, agencies, and short-sighted factions on Earth, he would push the entire world to its limits.
Pressure created change.
If the planet faced an overwhelming external threat, humanity might finally reveal its true potential.
"Jean, come on. We've got work to do."
Leon spoke casually, and in the very next second Jean appeared beside him as if she had always been there. Her expression was as calm and emotionless as ever, as though she had already expected this decision.
Leon reached out and gently brushed his fingers across her cheek. His voice lowered slightly as he spoke.
"From this moment on, I'm going to become the enemy of the entire world. Do you want to do this with me?"
"Of course."
Jean's voice remained cold and steady. There was no hesitation, no fear, and certainly no attempt to persuade him otherwise.
She simply accepted it.
Leon nodded with satisfaction.
"Good. Then let's give the world a surprise."
He took Jean's hand, and the two of them vanished from the room instantly.
A moment later they appeared standing at the very top of the Empire State Building. From that height the entire city stretched beneath them like a living map.
The sky was clear and blue, and far in the distance the ocean shimmered under the sunlight. Below them the streets were filled with moving traffic, crowds of people, and the endless rhythm of modern life.
It was a grand view of the most powerful country on Earth.
Leon looked down over the city quietly for a moment.
"I wonder how long this scene will last."
The smile on his face was impossible for ordinary people to understand.
He casually patted the tall metal pole beside him. The structure served as both a lightning rod and a signal receiver mounted at the peak of the skyscraper.
Leon's eyes flickered as he traced invisible electromagnetic pathways through the air. A precise signal frequency flowed through the metal structure beside him, spreading outward through the broadcast networks exactly the same way he had done before.
But this time, the scale was completely different.
The signal he transmitted didn't just interfere with American television channels. It expanded outward across the planet, hijacking global broadcasting systems in an instant.
At that exact moment, televisions across the world flickered.
The normal broadcasts disappeared.
In their place appeared the figure of a man standing calmly at the top of the Empire State Building.
"Hello everyone."
Leon looked directly toward the camera.
"My name is Leon."
"I'm standing on top of the Empire State Building. From here I can see the whole of America, and with a single thought I can influence the entire world."
He spoke with calm confidence.
"I'm a mutant. I'm also the richest man in the world, and I'm a scientist."
Across the United States—and across the planet—every television screen now displayed his image.
This time Leon made no attempt to hide his identity. There was no reason for secrecy anymore. Once he chose this path, he would stand openly against the entire world.
"For roughly ten thousand years of recorded history," Leon continued, "human civilization has followed the same pattern."
"From the ancient Babylonian civilization to ancient Egypt, from the civilizations of the Indian subcontinent to the ancient kingdoms of China, humanity's story has always been the same."
"It is a history written in war."
His voice remained calm, almost analytical.
"Wars of conquest, wars of survival, wars of ambition. Some are remembered as heroic legends, while others hide behind conspiracies and forgotten truths."
"But even in modern society, that pattern hasn't changed."
"Humanity is a species remarkably skilled at killing its own kind."
"Civilizations collapse through war, and civilizations advance through war."
Leon's tone gradually grew colder.
"All of you live on the same finite planet, competing over the same limited resources. There is no real compromise possible."
"And as a member of humanity myself, I see no future in the path you've chosen."
He paused briefly.
"Fifty years have passed since humans first landed on the Moon."
"For half a century, no one has returned."
"That single moment of glory remains frozen in history, as if human progress stopped the moment the Apollo missions ended."
Leon's eyes narrowed slightly.
"I don't see hope in humanity."
"You fight endlessly. You compete endlessly. Scientific development struggles to keep pace with the potential of human evolution."
His voice hardened.
"Look at mutants."
"Mutants have existed for thousands of years, yet what have you done with those abilities? Instead of using them to push science forward or benefit the world, you've turned them into weapons for even more pointless conflict."
"These powers in your hands are nothing but wasted potential."
Leon took a slow breath.
"So I've decided something."
"Rather than watching humanity destroy itself slowly, I'll end the process myself."
His gaze sharpened as he looked into the camera.
"From this moment on, I will become the enemy of the entire world."
"Find me. Stop me. Kill me."
"Because if you fail—this world will be destroyed."
Leon suddenly raised one hand and pointed toward the sky.
At that exact moment a bright streak of light tore through the blue atmosphere above New York.
It was a meteor.
"Everyone in New York should look up right now," Leon said calmly.
"What you're seeing is an asteroid I personally pulled from the asteroid belt beyond Mars."
"It has a diameter of thirty-six meters and is currently descending at a speed of roughly eleven kilometers per second."
"It will land in New York Harbor, just outside Manhattan."
His voice remained perfectly calm.
"And you'll all have the privilege of witnessing a tsunami large enough to flood half of New York."
He continued speaking without pause.
"In three days, another asteroid will arrive."
"That one measures three hundred sixty-nine meters across. It will impact Washington at a speed of nearly thirty kilometers per second."
"When it lands, Washington D.C. will be erased from the map."
Leon's tone remained steady as if he were reading a weather report.
"In one month, a small celestial body roughly three kilometers in diameter will strike Kansas."
"At forty-six kilometers per second."
"The entire United States will be destroyed."
His expression didn't change.
"And in six months, the Moon will leave its current orbit and begin drifting toward Earth."
"At that time, humanity will witness something never seen in history—the only Earth-Moon collision event our species will ever observe."
"The result, of course, will be the complete destruction of the planet."
Leon smiled faintly.
It was a calm, almost polite smile.
"So I'm announcing this to the entire world."
"Whether you're a powerful political leader, a wealthy elite in a developed nation, or a starving civilian in a struggling country… whether you're a normal human or a mutant with extraordinary abilities…"
"Every single one of you will now face the same pressure."
"You must unite to confront the disaster that's coming."
"If you fail to unite, the result is simple."
"The world will be destroyed."
"But if you succeed…"
"There might still be a chance for survival."
Leon's gaze swept across the horizon.
"So people of Earth…"
"Work hard."
The moment he finished speaking, Leon's image vanished from every television screen around the world.
Broadcast channels instantly returned to their normal programming.
But his words had already burned themselves into the minds of billions of people.
At that exact moment, everyone in New York could see the meteor.
It streaked across the sky at terrifying speed, blazing like a second sun as it descended toward the ocean just outside New York Harbor.
The impact would occur in less than twenty seconds.
When it struck, the collision would unleash a massive wall of water capable of devastating half the city.
Panic erupted across the streets.
People stared upward in horror, watching the flaming object growing larger and larger as it rushed toward the ocean.
"Oh my God…"
"Someone save us!"
Desperate voices filled the city as terrified citizens began screaming and praying for someone—anyone—to stop the disaster.
