Chapter 79 - Chapter 79 – Overwriting Death

After the World evolved into World Over Heaven, not only did it awaken its second exclusive ability—True Overwrite—but even the time-stop ability had been enhanced. The duration had doubled, extending the limit to fourteen seconds.

Ethan stood in the frozen hall, surrounded by a world that had completely stopped moving. Every figure remained locked in place like statues. Even Odin, the mighty king of gods, was helpless before the authority of halted time.

For a brief moment, a dangerous thought surfaced in Ethan's mind.

What if he tried hitting Odin with two Atomic Collapse beams right now?

Maybe it could kill him.

The idea lingered for only an instant before Ethan dismissed it.

Even if Atomic Collapse somehow managed to kill Odin, it wouldn't benefit him at all. Instead, it would immediately make him the enemy of Thor and the entire realm of Asgard. Creating that kind of hostility would bring nothing but endless trouble.

Ethan had absolutely no interest in doing something so thankless.

His telekinesis surged outward.

Malekith had just jumped from the rooftop and was about to escape when the invisible force suddenly seized him mid-air. Ethan dragged the Dark Elf leader back and imprisoned him directly in front of himself.

After securing the prisoner, Ethan released the stopped time and recalled the World back into his body.

In an instant, the universe resumed motion.

The entire process—from beginning to end—had lasted less than five seconds.

Although Ethan could maintain the time stop for fourteen seconds now, the strain still made him feel exhausted. Fortunately, the fatigue was far less severe than the first time he had used the ability, when he had nearly collapsed afterward.

In this vast universe, only a handful of beings could even sense that something unusual had happened just now.

Odin was one of them.

The All-Father stared at Ethan with eyes filled with astonishment and suspicion.

Time Stone?

Odin knew very well that unless someone was the next Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One would never hand the Time Stone to another person. Yet Ethan clearly carried none of the mystical energy associated with the Vishanti.

That meant he wasn't a sorcerer from Kamar-Taj, nor could he be the successor to the Sorcerer Supreme.

So where had this power come from?

What force allowed him to manipulate time itself?

Even Odin, famed throughout the Nine Realms for his wisdom, found no immediate answer.

These thoughts passed through Odin's mind in an instant.

But compared to Ethan's mysterious ability, Odin cared far more about the woman lying on the ground.

Frigga.

He slowly walked toward her and knelt down beside her body. Carefully lifting her into his arms, Odin checked her condition.

There was no breath left.

Frigga was gone.

The old king's body trembled slightly.

For thousands of years Odin had ruled the Nine Realms with absolute authority. Yet at this moment Ethan could clearly see the age suddenly weighing on him, as though the god king had grown decades older in the blink of an eye.

Thor stood nearby, completely unable to accept what he was seeing.

For several seconds he remained frozen in shock before reality finally struck him.

Then he noticed Malekith imprisoned in front of Ethan.

Rage instantly consumed him.

Thor didn't even stop to wonder why the Dark Elf who had just escaped suddenly appeared here again. His mind held only one thought.

Revenge.

Mjolnir rose high into the air, ready to smash Malekith's skull.

But just as the hammer was about to strike, an invisible barrier stopped it.

Ethan's telekinesis.

Thor immediately recognized the force holding him back. Furious, he turned toward Ethan.

"Don't stop me!" Thor roared. "I'm going to kill him!"

Ethan answered calmly.

"If you kill him, then who's going to save her?"

Thor froze.

"Ahhh—!"

With a roar of frustration, Thor threw Mjolnir aside and rushed to Frigga's body.

Ethan clicked his tongue slightly.

Thor's strength really was terrifying. The three-thousand-ton telekinetic barrier had almost failed to stop the hammer just now. Fortunately Thor had only swung once. If he had continued attacking, the barrier might have shattered completely.

Malekith continued struggling helplessly inside the invisible prison.

Ethan ignored him and turned his gaze toward Odin.

Even the god king could not hide the endless sorrow in his eyes.

It was obvious that Odin truly loved Frigga.

Seeing that, Ethan made a decision.

If he revived Frigga, Odin would definitely owe him a tremendous favor.

Besides, Frigga herself had given Ethan a very good first impression.

"Maybe I have a way to save Lady Frigga," Ethan said.

The moment those words fell, three pairs of eyes snapped toward him.

Odin.

Thor.

And Jane.

Among them, Jane looked the most distressed. Frigga had died protecting her, and the guilt weighed heavily on her heart.

"Prophet… you said you can save my mother?" Thor asked, his voice trembling.

He was afraid he had misheard. If the hope he had just grasped turned out to be false, the despair afterward would crush him completely.

Ethan nodded.

"I can't guarantee success," he said honestly. "But there's a very high chance."

After all, Frigga was Asgard's greatest sorceress. Ethan had no idea how much overwrite energy it would take to revive someone like her.

"Prophet," Thor said excitedly, "after you save my mother, I'll prepare anything you need immediately!"

Ethan shook his head.

"There's nothing you need to prepare. Just lay Lady Frigga flat on the ground."

Odin remained silent.

He gently placed Frigga's body down before stepping back several paces.

Although he had no idea how Ethan intended to reverse death itself, Odin had already witnessed one miracle today. Watching another unfold was something he now desperately hoped for.

Ethan took a deep breath.

Then he summoned the World.

The moment the World appeared, Odin's pupils shrank slightly.

He could see it.

What kind of creature was this?

Odin had never encountered anything like it before. The entity radiated Ethan's spiritual presence and life force, yet its form seemed to exist somewhere between reality and illusion.

Thor, meanwhile, couldn't see the World at all. He simply stared at Ethan nervously, barely daring to breathe for fear of interrupting whatever process was about to begin.

Ethan placed his hands together with the World's.

Both sets of hands hovered above the wound on Frigga's body.

"Write Reality."

Overwrite the reality of death with the reality of survival.

Activate.

The overwrite energy stored within the World began draining rapidly.

Twenty-seven units.

Twenty-six.

Twenty-five.

The numbers fell quickly until only seven units remained.

Saving Frigga had consumed a total of twenty units of overwrite energy.

Ethan felt like his heart was bleeding.

After a short moment, he withdrew the World and stood up.

Frigga's wound had completely disappeared.

"Well?" Thor asked anxiously. "How is she?"

Before Ethan could answer, Frigga slowly opened her eyes.

She looked at Odin first, then Thor.

"Shouldn't I be dead?" she asked softly.

As a powerful sorceress, Frigga had been very aware of her life force fading away earlier. She clearly remembered that before losing consciousness, every last trace of her vitality had already drained away.

Thor immediately helped her sit up, tears filling his eyes.

"Mother… you really were dead," he said hoarsely. "But the Prophet brought you back."

"The Prophet?"

Frigga looked confused.

Seeing her reaction, Thor quickly explained.

"Mother, let me introduce him. Ethan Blake, the Prophet of Midgard. I met him during my exile."

Frigga still looked puzzled.

She had lived for thousands of years, yet she had never heard of any prophet from Midgard. The only powerful figure she knew there was the Sorcerer Supreme.

Still confused, she turned to Odin.

Odin smiled gently at her before looking toward Ethan.

"Prophet of Midgard," Odin said solemnly, "thank you for rescuing the one I love."

"From this day forward, you will be the most honored guest of Asgard."

Then he turned toward Thor.

"Take the Prophet to my treasury and allow him to choose a treasure. Consider it Asgard's reward for saving your mother."
