π WORLD DIVISION: MORTAL & IMMORTAL REALMS
THE GRAND COSMOLOGY
The universe of Eternal Dao: The Supreme Ascendant is not a single world β it is a layered existence, like floors of an infinite tower, each accessible only to those strong enough to break through the ceiling above them.
Most cultivators live and die without ever knowing the upper layers exist. The strong call it Ascension. The weak call it myth.
Ling Tian will walk every floor.
β THE MORTAL WORLD β Canglan Realm
"A cage painted to look like a kingdom."
The Canglan Realm is the lowest layer of existence β vast, beautiful, and completely unaware of how small it truly is. It spans the Azure Sky Continent and several smaller landmasses separated by the Boundless Outer Sea. Mortals and low-level cultivators live their entire lives here, believing it to be the whole of creation.
The ceiling of the Mortal World is the Nascent Soul Realm. Cultivators who push beyond Nascent Soul and touch the threshold of Spirit Severance will feel it β a pressure from the sky itself, a heavenly resistance, as if existence is telling them: this far and no further.
Those who break through that resistance don't simply advance in cultivation. They leave.
β THE MORTAL WORLD'S SIX REGIONS
1. Eastern Region (Story Start)
Moderately populated with minor clans and small sects. The Ling Clan sits in Ironcloud City in this region. No Holy Land presence. Considered a backwater by higher powers.
2. Central Region
The political heart of the Mortal World. Three major sects maintain a cold-war balance of power. Ancient ruins beneath the ground hint at a civilization that ascended long ago. The most dangerous place for a rising cultivator because everyone is watching.
3. Northern Wastes
Brutal tundra and shattered mountain ranges. Home to ancient ruins, Tier 5β7 beasts, and cultivators who have abandoned civilization. Lifespan-extending herbs grow here that cannot be found anywhere else. The Northern Wastes were once the site of a war between Nascent Soul overlords β the land still bleeds Qi from old wounds.
4. Southern Expanse
Tropical, lush, saturated with spiritual energy. The Pill Sovereign Holy Land controls access to its deepest regions. Heaven-grade herbs grow in the wild. Also home to the largest concentration of Beast Tamers on the continent β the beasts here are more intelligent and more aggressive than anywhere else.
5. Western Borderlands
Permanent warzone between human cultivators and Beast Sovereign territories. Every generation, a Beast Tide erupts from the west β tens of thousands of beasts pouring east, destroying everything in their path. The sects send disciples here to train. Many don't return. Those who do are changed.
6. The Forbidden Boundary
No one maps it. No one rules it. Spatial laws fracture here, making teleportation suicidal. Ancient stone formations, older than any living cultivator, cover the ground like writing no one can read. Things move in the dark that do not match any known beast classification. The Forbidden Boundary is where the Mortal World's ceiling is thinnest β and where something from above occasionally bleeds through.
β THE IMMORTAL WORLD β Xuantian Realm
"Here, even the air has a cultivation realm."
The Xuantian Realm is the second layer β an entire world floating above the mortal one, hidden behind a sky that mortals can see but never touch. Its landmasses are larger, its spiritual energy denser, and its inhabitants are existences that would be considered gods in the Canglan Realm.
The ambient Qi here is ten times richer than the Mortal World. A Foundation Establishment cultivator who ascended would find their cultivation advancing passively, just from breathing. A Nascent Soul cultivator ascending for the first time would feel, in the Immortal World, like a child.
The Xuantian Realm's social hierarchy is built entirely on cultivation realm. The weak are not citizens β they are resources.
β THE IMMORTAL WORLD'S STRUCTURE
The Five Immortal Domains:
1. Skyfire Domain (Entry point for most ascendants)
The domain closest to the Heaven Ladder arrival points. A brutal, competitive environment where newly ascended cultivators are immediately thrown into the power struggle. Dominated by Immortal Sects that recruit β or enslave β new arrivals. Ling Tian's second major arc begins here.
2. Jade Void Domain
Home to the continent's greatest alchemists and formation masters. Ancient libraries holding techniques that predate the division of Mortal and Immortal Worlds. Access is restricted to Dao Seeking cultivators and above.
3. The Eternal Frost Sea (Between domains)
A frozen ocean that separates the northern domains. Ships reinforced with Heaven-grade formations are the only safe method of crossing. Beneath the ice, ancient things sleep that even Dao Lords avoid.
4. Blood War Domain
A domain in permanent conflict β seven Immortal Sects in a war that has lasted three hundred years. Resources are staggering; casualties are catastrophic. The domain produces the strongest fighters in the Xuantian Realm, because the weak die before they can become strong.
5. The Sovereign's Seat (Central Domain)
Where the Eternal Sovereigns reside β distant, vast, shrouded in clouds that are literally made of compressed Dao Laws. Ordinary Dao Lords are not permitted within a thousand li of the outer boundary. A place Ling Tian will one day walk through the front gate.
