Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Our Clan Has Fallen

[Our clan has fallen.]

[After a night steeped in blood and conspiracy, the name Uchiha was dragged into the mud and left to rot.]

[As the final bloodline of the clan, you must reclaim its lost glory at any cost—make the Uchiha great once more.]

[Host has reached the age of eighteen. The Strongest Family Revival System is now loading.]

---

Tendo stared at the translucent panel slowly forming in front of him, unconsciously holding his breath.

He shook his head, squeezed his eyes shut, then snapped them open again.

It wasn't an illusion.

The panel was still there.

A low roar echoed in his mind, leaving his head buzzing slightly.

Tendo had lived in the Hidden Leaf Village for eighteen years.

His parents had been unremarkable chunin who died long ago. His own talent was equally average—he'd only reached chunin rank through years of persistence, not brilliance. His future looked painfully predictable.

No secret clan techniques.

No special constitution.

Average chakra reserves.

Aside from being annoyingly handsome, he was mediocre in both academics and combat.

For eighteen years, his life had been almost plant-like in its regularity: waking up at seven every morning, doing some light exercise, grabbing breakfast at Ichiraku Ramen or eating at home, then heading to work at the Hokage Building. Dinner was simple, homemade, and light. He was always in bed before eleven, making sure to get a full eight hours of sleep.

He had thought his life would continue like this forever—straightforward, dull, and visible all the way to the end.

Until now.

The system panel floated quietly before him, exuding a steady, unquestionable presence.

…But there was clearly something wrong with it.

"System?" Tendo asked inwardly, testing the waters. "Are you sure you've got the right person?"

"The Uchiha Clan was wiped out four years ago. The only survivor in Konoha is Uchiha Sasuke. He should still be messing around at the Ninja Academy, right?"

[Host identity confirmed: Uchiha descendant.]

[Core objective: Revive the Uchiha Clan. Primary directive: Increase personal strength and restore clan prestige until achieving 'Kage-level' status, allowing the Uchiha banner to rise once more across the ninja world.]

The reply was cold and mechanical, completely ignoring Tendo's doubts as the panel refreshed itself.

Beneath the words Kage-level, a line of smaller text appeared.

['Kage-level' is the system's comprehensive evaluation standard.

Condition One: Awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Condition Two: Publicly defeat at least one individual universally recognized as possessing Kage-level strength or status.

Meeting either condition is sufficient.]

[Final authority of interpretation belongs to this system.]

"Mangekyō…"

Tendo felt utterly speechless.

Listen, pal. I don't even have a Sharingan yet, and you're already demanding a Mangekyō? Is this system designed specifically to mess with me? Maybe I should just uninstall it.

Just as he was about to give up, the panel refreshed once again.

[Phased growth mode activated.

Current strength evaluation: Genin.]

[Beginner Guidance Mission issued: Peak of the Genin.]

[Mission Objective: Defeat the currently acknowledged 'Strongest Genin' of the Hidden Leaf Village—Uzumaki Naruto—in a direct confrontation. Prove that you possess the potential worthy of the Uchiha name.]

[Mission Reward: One-Tomoe Sharingan.]

…Well, the system had only just booted up. A little lag was understandable.

The real question was—did it actually deliver on rewards?

Tendo's heart began pounding wildly.

Eighteen years. A full eighteen years.

Looking back, those eighteen years barely felt like a proper life. In the world of Naruto, everything revolved around bloodlines. If you weren't connected to the Ōtsutsuki lineage in some way, the world had no mercy for you.

Relying on sheer hard work alone?

Putting Might Guy aside, even Rock Lee's ability to train like a madman was a talent in itself. An ordinary person would cripple themselves long before seeing results.

And in the original story, even Rock Lee eventually faded into the background.

So… System, you weren't wrong after all.

Turns out, I really was an Uchiha this whole time.

From today onward, I am Uchiha Tendo.

After silently pledging himself to the system, Tendo turned to look out the window.

Almost at the same moment, a loud, triumphant laugh—clearly the sound of a prank going perfectly—rang out from the direction of Hokage Rock.

He walked over and pushed the window open.

The noise became much clearer, mixed with angry shouts and frantic footsteps. His gaze traveled over rows of rooftops before settling on the massive stone faces of Hokage Rock in the distance.

Atop the head of the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama, a conspicuous orange figure was darting around energetically, apparently holding a bucket.

Garish streaks of color ran from the First's cheeks across to the Second and Third Hokage's stone faces. Even from this distance, it wasn't hard to guess who the culprit was.

"Naruto-kun… my first pot of gold," Tendo muttered.

The future Child of Prophecy.

The hero who would save the world.

The Seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf.

And the system-designated Strongest Genin.

But that was the future.

Right now?

Right now, Uzumaki Naruto was just the class dead last—terrible chakra control, abysmal ninjutsu theory, and nothing noteworthy at the Academy except raw stamina and stubborn perseverance.

More importantly, he hadn't yet learned his signature cheat from the Scroll of Seals—the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu.

At present, he was nothing more than a lite version of the Strongest Genin.

Below Hokage Rock, a crowd of furious villagers and a handful of idle ninja had already gathered. Shouts, complaints, and frantic orders blended into chaos.

"That demon fox brat again!"

"My fruit stand! He just knocked half of it over!"

"Where's Iruka-sensei?! Hurry and catch him!"

"What did he draw on the Hokage-sama's faces this time?! This is unforgivable!"

"The Third Hokage is far too soft on him. A troublemaker like that needs strict discipline!"

"Hey—are those whiskers painted onto the Third's face? That's… oddly fitting?"

"Quit chatting and catch him! He ran that way!"

In the middle of the crowd, Iruka Umino—sweat pouring down his face, the scar across his nose standing out—was directing several colleagues to cut Naruto off, while chasing after the orange blur himself.

"Naruto! Stop right there! Quit causing trouble!"

Naruto ignored him completely. He looked back, stuck out his tongue, and laughed even harder.

"Hahaha! Catch me if you can, Iruka-sensei! Doesn't Hokage Rock look way more artistic today?!"

He had just finished adding the final "masterpiece" to the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze—an exaggerated, ridiculous expression—and was making his escape.

His chosen route happened to pass right by Tendo's building.

Tendo observed calmly, calculating distance and timing.

Just as Naruto leapt and was about to flash past the window—

With a sudden shout, Tendo struck, cleanly restraining him.

"Got you, Naruto-kun."

A faintly amused voice sounded from above.

Naruto struggled and looked up. The sunlight was blinding, forcing him to squint his deep blue eyes.

First, he saw slightly messy blond hair glinting in the light.

Then a handsome face.

And finally—those eyes.

Naruto froze.

He was used to people looking at him with coldness, hatred, or pity. But this gaze was different.

…It almost felt friendly.

Of course it was friendly.

Tendo was staring directly at the system notification floating before him.

[Mission Complete.

One-Tomoe Sharingan issued. Please claim your reward promptly.]

A wave of relief washed over him.

"You—who are you?! Let go of me!" Naruto snapped back to reality and began struggling again.

"Just a helpful passerby," Tendo replied casually. "Remember that."

His gaze swept over Naruto's paint-splattered clothes and cheeks, then drifted back to the colorful mess on Hokage Rock. He'd read about Naruto's antics countless times in his previous life, but seeing it in person still made it hard not to laugh.

The corner of his mouth twitched as he offered some entirely sincere advice:

"Ink washes off with a few buckets of water. Next time, try oil paint instead."

Naruto was dumbfounded.

…Wait, whose side are you on?!

At that moment, Iruka finally arrived, panting. "Naruto! You—huh? Tendo-kun?"

Without lingering, Tendo handed Naruto over, requested leave from his female superior, and headed toward a training ground he frequented.

The training ground was half-encircled by a small grove. The earth was hard-packed, with several heavily worn wooden posts and targets standing in place. Discarded ninja tools lay piled in a corner. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, scattering mottled shadows across the ground. The area was silent.

After confirming no one was around, Tendo stepped into the center and slowly closed his eyes.

[Claim Mission Reward]

The instant the command was issued, a scorching torrent surged from his heart, splitting into two streams.

The larger stream raced up his neck and poured directly into his eyes. A burning, aching sensation flared around his eye sockets, as if something deep inside was taking root, sprouting, and tearing its way into existence.

His vision blurred—then sharpened dramatically.

He could see the finest veins on distant leaves, even the faint tracks left by insects crawling across the ground. The world became vivid, layered with color and depth.

One-Tomoe Sharingan acquired.

The second, smaller stream flowed through his body, washing over every vessel and meridian.

Tendo could clearly feel his physique improving. Old injuries accumulated from years of training were being repaired. He unwound the bandages from his palms—several hardened calluses had vanished, leaving smooth skin behind.

He approached a wooden post. Without forming hand seals, he refined his chakra purely through intent.

The process was unbelievably smooth.

Smooth enough to make him want to cry.

The system never failed to surprise him. The One-Tomoe Sharingan reward even came bundled with enhancement to the Uchiha clan's physical constitution.

"Now… I lack nothing."

Tendo continued refining chakra, testing his limits.

In an instant, his chakra surged—rising, swelling, then exploding outward. A sense of overwhelming dominance welled up from deep within him.

Just as he was about to laugh out loud, the increase abruptly stopped.

"…About half a Kakashi."

His rational mind snapped back into place.

"I still need more training."

For now, he had no intention of openly testing the Sharingan's abilities. The Uchiha massacre was only four years past, and the dust hadn't settled. If he revealed it carelessly, unseen eyes might notice.

As an Uchiha survivor lurking in the shadows, Tendo was acutely aware of his situation. The enemy stood in the light, while he remained hidden. That advantage had to be used well.

Once his growth phase was over, it wouldn't be too late to dominate openly.

Just as he was lost in thought, a bright, cheerful voice called out from the edge of the woods behind him:

"Yo, Tendo-kun. You've been improving a lot lately."
