Chapter 1 - NILMADHAVA :The legend

A Mythological Jungle Epic Inspired by the Divine Origins of Lord Jagannath

CHAPTER 1 – The Lost Devotion

Long before the temples of Utkal touched the sky and before the chants of "Jay Jagannath" echoed across the seas, there lived a king whose faith had begun to fade.

His name was King Indradyumna, the once-glorious ruler of Ujjain.

There was a time when his kingdom shined like the sun itself. Golden palaces, prosperous markets, brave warriors, and temples filled with devotion. But destiny is cruel even to the greatest kings.

A devastating war had shattered everything.

The palace halls now echoed with silence. Soldiers lay dead, the treasury was empty, and the king who once ruled with pride now sat alone on his throne, staring at the broken crown resting beside him.

One stormy evening, as thunder roared above the palace, a mysterious Brahman walked into the royal court.

His eyes were calm, but inside them burned a strange divine glow.

The guards tried to stop him, but the king raised his hand.

"Let him come."

The Brahman slowly stepped forward and looked directly at the king.

Then he spoke the words that would change history.

BRAHMAN:

"Jo khōjogē… vah sab milēgā.

Lekin jo khojna hi chhod de… usse bhagwan bhi nahi milte."

The king stood up slowly.

INDRADYUMNA:

"Who are you? And what do you mean?"

The Brahman smiled.

BRAHMAN:

"If you wish to regain your lost glory, travel east… to the sacred land of Utkal.

There… destiny waits for you."

The court fell silent.

Then the Brahman vanished into the stormy night.

No one ever saw him again.

But the king had heard enough.

The next morning he summoned his most trusted warrior.

The fearless Senapati Biswabasu.

KING INDRADYUMNA:

"Biswabasu… kingdoms can be rebuilt with swords.

But faith… can only be found with courage."

BISWABASU:

"Order me, Maharaj."

KING:

"Go to Utkal.

Find the divine force that waits there…

and bring hope back to this kingdom."

Biswabasu bowed.

BISWABASU:

"Until my last breath… I will serve dharma."

And so began the journey that would awaken The Legend of Nilamadhava.

CHAPTER 2 – The Twin Hills of Mystery

Days turned into weeks.

Weeks turned into months.

Biswabasu crossed rivers, forests, mountains, and deserts until he reached a land untouched by the outside world.

A deep jungle where the wind whispered ancient secrets.

At the heart of that jungle stood two mysterious hills.

Bramandri and Himandri.

They looked like two silent guardians protecting something sacred.

At the base of Himandri lived a humble tribal community known as the Sabars.

Simple people.

Pure hearts.

Unshaken faith.

They worshipped a hidden deity known only as Lord Nilamadhava.

One night Biswabasu secretly watched their ritual.

Torches burned.

Drums echoed.

The forest itself seemed alive.

Suddenly a strange force entered one of the devotees.

The man's body trembled violently.

His eyes glowed with divine light.

A powerful voice thundered through the jungle.

NILAMADHAVA:

"Biswabasu…

Tume kena āśā karucha?"

Biswabasu fell to his knees.

BISWABASU:

"Mu āpanaṅku neba ku chāhuṅchi, prabhu…"

The jungle went silent.

Then the voice spoke again.

NILAMADHAVA:

"Jadi mote neba ku chāhu…

mote dabu kana?"

Biswabasu raised his head.

BISWABASU:

"Mu āpanaṅka mrutī sthāpan karibi…

Mandir karibi…

Au pratidina āpanaṅku pūjā karibi."

For a moment the forest seemed to hold its breath.

Then the divine voice spoke again.

NILAMADHAVA:

"Tuma rājāṅka dhan, dharma, au sampatti phirī āsiba.

Kintu mu eka lakadi bhābare samudra thāru āsibi.

Se lakadi neba… tāhāre mandir kariba."

Biswabasu bowed deeply.

From that moment, the jungle itself belonged to the divine.

He offered the entire land and the twin hills to Nilamadhava.

A sacred promise had been made.

But destiny never forgets broken promises.

CHAPTER 3 – The Curse of the Chutki

Before the divine voice disappeared, it gave a final warning.

NILAMADHAVA:

"Biswabasu…

Tuma bānśa re jadi kehi ei chutki bhāṅgiba…

Mu tāku kṣamā karibi…

Kintu mo bhāuni Maa Chandi tāṅku saṅhāra karibe."

Time moved forward.

Years passed.

King Indradyumna built the great Temple of Jagannath.

The kingdom regained its glory.

Faith returned.

But centuries later…

The promise was forgotten.

And greed returned to the jungle.

CHAPTER 4 – The Fall of Gopal Jamidar

Biswabasu's descendant Gopal Jamidar had become a powerful landlord.

But unlike his ancestor, he had no devotion.

One day he stood before the tribes and laughed.

GOPAL JAMIDAR:

"Ei jungle… ei pahar…

Sab mora!"

Lightning flashed in the sky.

The wind howled like an angry spirit.

That night a divine voice warned him.

NILAMADHAVA:

"Jaha divine… tāhā divine rahiba."

But Gopal laughed again.

The next day he went to court to claim the land legally.

As he climbed the courthouse stairs—

Thunder exploded.

A bolt of lightning struck him instantly.

Gopal Jamidar died on the spot.

That same night…

Nilamadhava disappeared into the twin hills.

The jungle fell silent.

CHAPTER 5 – Blood of the Descendants

Years later the curse returned.

Gopal's son Rajendra Jamidar secretly planned to capture the tribal lands again.

Only one man stood against him.

Rudrapratap, a forest officer who believed in dharma.

And a young tribal warrior named Kumar.

But greed makes men blind.

One dark night Rajendra killed Aarav, Kumar's cousin — the boy who played Nilamadhava during the tribal rituals.

The next morning Kumar found the lifeless body beneath the sacred tree.

His scream echoed through the jungle.

That was the moment peace died.

CHAPTER 6 – The Divine War

Rajendra attacked the village with armed guards.

But the tribals refused to surrender.

A brutal battle erupted beneath the burning sky.

Swords clashed.

Arrows flew.

The jungle roared like a battlefield of gods.

Then something impossible happened.

As the flames rose—

Maa Chandi entered Kumar's body.

His eyes burned like fire.

His voice thundered like the sky itself.

KUMAR (divine voice):

"Dharma ku chhuile…

Agni re jaliba!"

With a single strike of the trident—

Rajendra Jamidar fell.

The curse of greed ended at last.

After the battle Kumar looked at his people.

KUMAR:

"Eei jungle… eei desha…

Sada dharmare rahu."

Then he picked up a burning torch.

And walked into the dark jungle.

Toward the twin hills.

Just like Nilamadhava once did.

And he was never seen again.

ENDING...

The jungle returned to silence.

But legends never die.

They only wait.

"When devotion is lost, the divine returns to the earth…

Only to rise again when faith is found."
