You see Dante was aware his awakening would definitely cause a commotion so in other to protect his wolf from danger he asked maximus to stay at the base of the mountain and wait for him.
Well Maximus listened,he understood his master was about to get even stronger and believed there was nothing that could threaten him so immediately he was left alone he looked for a comfortable enough spot and slept.
He was already in deep sleep when the Mana in the mountain increased dramatically and instead of waking up he was actually plunge into an even deeper sleep because his advancement started taking place when he was flooded with Mana.
So he basically reap the second most reward by sleeping. He only woke up after his advancement and he was sure he would at least be able to sense even a glimpse of his master's power, after all with the power he currently possess his master parents do not scare him anymore but his master seems to fear them (he is obviously confusing Respect for Fear).
It wasn't long after he woke up when he felt two presence coming towards him from above,one he knew to be his master mother while the other one was weird, it felt like his master but attached with it was Mana, which confused him to no end, his master shouldn't have a Mana presence.
Immediately he saw them and realized it's his master he stood up with his head low because every instinct in his body was telling him that if his master wanted to kill him then he would die today even with the advancement he had just undergone.
Oh would you look at that it seems I'm not the only one who got to advance, Dante said as he landed in front of maximus and started rubbing his head, maximus responded by licking his face which tickles and cause him to laugh.

And the eyes of an alpha is light red when they get to S rank but if stolen the thief would get a dark red but maximus is not just dark red it almost just black and the power he has his not something someone who just advance should possess,i mean off cause you are not included in that.
