He averted his gaze. "I… I came here looking for you because you were not in your chambers…"

She narrowed her eyes slightly but said nothing.
"Well… Candy was asking after you so you should see her." He said quickly and walked past her.
She blinked at first, glancing over her shoulder at his receding frame.
Then she glanced back at the door.
How could she fail to notice that he had called her 'Candy', for the second time.
Eve opened the door and stepped into the room. Candace was fully dressed, seated on the side of the bed with a shawl draped over her shoulders.
"You intend to go out?" Eve could not help but ask.
Candace spared her a glance, offering her a small smile.
"Of course not. I am hardly in the condition to face mere servants, much less the Duke or… anyone else."
