He tossed the last of the inventories back on the table.
It was almost dinner time and she wasn't back yet.
Since morning…
Theodore rubbed his eyes and glanced up at Bartwick.
"Has she returned yet?"
Bartwick simply shook his head. The older man already knew who 'she' was as it was the third time the question was being asked.
"You seem tired my lord, perhaps a bath-"
He waved Bartwick off.
"I wonder what kind of man keeps a woman out this long." He muttered under his breath.
Bartwick stepped back and held the door open.
Theodore rose from the chair and walked towards the open door.
"Put out the candles. I'm done for the day."
He had needed her to choose some table linens among other things, but she was out as though she hadn't a care in the world.
A maid hurried to him just then.
"My lord, your father has sent for you again."
Again.
That was the third time.
