The Lockwood family exited the Alejandro mansion and sat in their car, Richard in the driver's seat, Carol in the front passenger seat, and Tyler in the backseat.
The car's engine roared, and it had barely left the walled compound when Richard let out a sigh.
"That went well," he said. "The lad is good. Well behaved, soft spoken, and not at all arrogant."
"Yeah," Carol nodded.
"Mom! Dad!" Tyler interrupted, his voice laced with irritation. "I do not get it. Why did we have to do all this? Arriving at the mansion and welcoming the man, and you also forced me to tag along with you. And just now you were trying to force me into becoming his friend. Not to mention, today is the first day of my school."
"What is all this?" he questioned. "It looked as if you were trying to flatter him."
"Enough, Tyler," Richard said, his voice harsh. "Before coming here, I asked you to behave well. But you did not heed my advice. I am reminding you again and again that when I say something, you listen to it. You have been constantly testing my patience."
"And we were not flattering him," he added.
"Tyler," Carol said, much more softly compared to her husband, not willing to let the matter escalate between the father and son duo.
"The Alejandro family has been friends with the Lockwood family for generations," she said. "Your father and Alan's father were good friends before he passed away."
"And even though the two surviving members of the Alejandro family left the town twenty years back," she continued. "A channel of contact was maintained between us."
"Apart from this," she added. "The Alejandro family is also very important for our political campaign."
"Alan's grandfather funded more than half of our previous election campaign and advertisement. So, once the election approaches, we will need his support."
There was a flicker of surprise in Tyler's eyes as he heard this.
"How rich is his family?" He questioned, with a little shocked face.
"He is a multi-millionaire," Richard interjected. "We cannot comprehend the amount of wealth he has."
"It is fine if you do not want to make friends with him," Carol said.
"But we can expect you to show a little courtesy to him whenever you two meet. Alan has been through a lot," she concluded, her tone sympathetic.
"And this is not only about money," she added firmly. "This is about the humanity and friendship we have had with the Alejandro family."
"Fine," Tyler grunted in response, and Carol nodded with a polite smile.
Meanwhile, back at the manor, Alan slumped onto his sofa after he closed the door behind the Lockwood family. His mind was wondering about the unexpected visit from the Lockwood family.
His grandfather had told him about the close relationship between the Lockwood and Alejandro families. He had also known that his grandfather was one of the major funders of Richard Lockwood's election campaign, and thus, he was not entirely surprised to see the Lockwood family visiting him. Even so, he would not say that the Lockwood family had arrived here for money grubbing purposes. They had been gracious in their behavior and had acted like genuine friends and well-wishers, rather than people simply seeking his wealth.
Overall, he had found them pleasing and kind. He generally appreciated their visit and approach. Through them, Alan would find it easy to integrate himself into the society of Mystic Falls. He would also be comfortable taking his position on the Founder's Council, whose role was about to become vital once vampires started showing up in the town.
Regarding his family and the Founder's Council.
The Alejandro family was one of the original founding families of Mystic Falls. Along with the other five families, the Fells, Forbes, Gilberts, Lockwoods, and Salvatores, the Alejandro family had established the town.
At no point in time had the other founding families known that the Alejandros were witches and warlocks. The Alejandro family had kept these facts a secret, and they had been entirely successful in doing so. Keeping their identity as a secret was one of the iron laws of their family. Perhaps, it was because of the forbidden magic they practiced. Alan could not be sure.
Furthermore, not long after they had settled in Mystic Falls, the family had stopped practicing magic altogether and had begun living their lives as normal people.
Alan was not very clear about his family's history before they had settled in Mystic Falls. His grandfather had not mentioned anything about it in his diary. Perhaps he would find those answers in the magical vault his grandfather had mentioned.
Now, regarding the party that was going to be organised in the woods, he had, of course, known about it.
A bunch of young people gathering in the woods, singing, dancing, drinking, kissing and fucking and, naturally, drugging, smoking weed and getting stoned.
It was the same party in which Vicki Donovan would be bitten by Damon and Stefan and Elena would come really close.
Initially, he was not sure if he would be going to the party or not, but now that he had been invited, his interest had been stoked. There was also the allure of encountering his first vampire, the great Stefan Salvatore, or perhaps even Damon. Maybe he could do it sooner. Stefan would already be at the Mystic Falls High School.
Alan was not really worried about encountering a vampire. Although not entirely sure of his exact strength, he was certain that he would not be weak compared to them, even if it were a very old vampire. Perhaps the Originals might prove to be stronger than him, or maybe not. It was all merely conjecture. Wolverine was an extremely powerful character and if Alan had inherited his full power, then he most probably would even be stronger than the Originals.
But this was only one aspect of his prowess. He also had his magical power, which he intended to tap into fully. With these two powers in his arsenal, he would be almost invincible. Furthermore, the magic of this world granted and opened a path to numerous possibilities. Even bringing someone back from the dead seemed to happen every few episodes.
And with these thoughts in mind, Alan finally decided to check the vault that his grandfather had mentioned about.
