Lexianna slowly opened her heavy silver eyes.
She expected to wake up in a terrible, awful place, where she would be sitting on a hard, dirty stone floor with rusty chains and squeaking rats in the dark corners.
But when she blinked her eyes and looked around, there were no rats. There were no chains.
Lexianna was not in a dungeon at all. She was lying in the middle of the most breathtaking, luxurious bedroom she had ever seen in her entire life.
The bed she was lying on was as big as a small house. The blankets were made of the softest, shiniest pink silk. The giant pillows felt like they were stuffed with real clouds. Above her head, a beautiful crystal chandelier sparkled with warm, golden light. The walls were painted with pretty pictures of birds and flowers, and the giant windows were covered with thick, white velvet curtains. It did not look like a scary prison. It looked like a room made for a fairy tale queen.
Lexianna sat up fast. She grabbed her stomach.
