Chapter 3 - The Calling

Leo pushed open the giant doors into the Adventures Guild and again alot of the people in there stopped and stared at him. He clenched his teeth down and knew he had to do something about his clothes or this would keep happening everywhere he would go in this world.

He had a hard time stomaching the anxiety it gave him because of the memories from before, as he walked up to the guild desk he could hear other Adventures talking about his clothes. To his surprise they weren't actually insulting him, but were more curious as to what type of clothes or armor he was wearing.

Hearing this helped settle his mind a bit before he starting talking to guild clerk at the desk. He caught his breath and began...

"Hey there, I was told to come here for an assessment?"

The guild clerk looked at him from head to toe and replied with the worst thing... "Are you sure your in the right place? Your clothes dont exactly tell me your want to be an Adventurer". She let out a slight chuckle that was gut reaching to hear.

"I may not look it but im from another world, thats why my damn clothes dont look the same as everyone else. In fact im probably the most powerful one here and you just dont know it yet"

Leo said this with a ego and it made more people stare now hoping to be amused with his assessment, as someone who talked so might should be really powerful right.

"OH wow an off world worlder? Right this way sir" she said it was an almost sarcastic tone that Leo did not pick up on and led him to the assessment room where a giant crystal ball sat on a potem.

"Please place your hand on this crystal ball and it will tell us your power rankings, class, and skills available"

Leo walked over to the ball and slapped his hand down thinking it was gonna be a great assessment...but before he could even show a smile a tiny flicker of light came from the orb and then died out.

In this moment he quickly stared at the orb and then looked at the clerk with his jaw dropped. She was laughing at him and he knew this was not a good thing...

"Well sir, it shows you are a rank E with no class and no skills, you are the weakest Adventurer in our guild" she kept laughing at him and it was starting to pass him off

"Im the lowest? Are you sure your didn't do this wrong! How can I have no class or no skills!" He replied back with no understanding of the situation

Walking out the room he was a laughing stock in the guild, he knew this would be hard but he had no idea he would be the lowest ranking member of this world basically and with no skills or class what could he do?

The clerk came out of the back area with his Adventures Lisence and Calling Card for him. She explained that with no class it actually allows him to swap through classes with out being penalized for using another classes armor or weapons and with no skills it doesn't mean he won't gain any later.

To Leo this was better news to hear then when she was laughing at him in the assessment room.

He was now an Adventurer with the Guild of Aethelgard and he could come and go to make a living as he pleased!

[System Notification]

[Adventurer status complete]

[Calling card acquired]

[Rank - E]

[Skills - none]

[Class - ♾️]

He glared at the fact he was the lowest ranked in the guild, but shrugged it off as a starting point that he could only go up from here.

But what really got his attention what this symbol :♾️ it was completely unknown to him as the guild clerk said he had no classes but instead in the system notification its showing the symbol of infinity.

"Why is my class infinit? Could this mean more then what the clerk told me?" Seeing this symbol through his mind into a confusion as to what it could mean for him.

The clerk came back over to him while he was looking at the job request boards and handed him the starting package. This was not much but he got a small leather pouch with a few silver coins in it and a couple wooden engraved planks.

She explained to him that the silver is for any basic equipment he needs and the planks can be used for a couple nights of stay at any bar in around town. This should be more then enough to get started before his first quest.

With this Leo set out to go find a place to stay for the night and let his mind rest from everything that seemed to have been thrown at him 1 by 1 without any evidence as to why this was happening.

He went back to that bar he had for information before going to the guild and the same bar keep was behind the counter.

"Got any rooms I could stay in for the night?"

The bar keep replied "I got 2 rooms, there 1 silver each for a night or you can use a plank voucher from the guild if you got in"

Leo he'd up a voucher and as quickly as the bar keep saw it she snatched one from his hands. He was almost shocked at how fast she took that and he scrambled to put the other one back in his pockets.

"Its up the stairs, third door down. Breakfast is free but it ain't much for the night"

He thanked her and slowly made his way upstairs, he felt more the just being physically exhausted but he was also mentally exhausted. Being thrown into this new world and instantly dieing then being told he was the weakest wasn't what he had in mind for the day...

He closed the door and walked over to the bed that was creaky and made of wood with blankets stuffed of stuff straw...he looked down with a slight disgust but still needed up flopping himself on the bed and passing out.

This was the first day Leo had in Aethelgard and he had no idea what he was going to do for armor or weapons but he knew he needed sleep and tommorrow he was gonna figure out the next steps to becoming atleast a better Adventurer.
