Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Conquering the Toucan and Spearow

Under the bright moonlight,

nocturnal creatures became active, and the roars of wild beasts were incessant.

As Lin Zhi walked, relying on his detection ability and pseudo-aura, he skillfully avoided or drove away wild pokémon. The ones he encountered so far did not meet his capture criteria; his minimum requirement was Green.

The deeper he went into the suburbs, the more he entered the wilderness!

During his journey, he also discovered some wild berries, herbs, and so on.

There was a variety of berries, the most common and practical being Oran Berry and Leppa Berry, which could restore a pokémon's stamina. They were widely used in the market, appearing in the production of Pokémon food and energy cubes.

berries were also categorized by quality: inferior, normal, excellent, and superb. This was reflected in their effects, especially superb berries, which, if consumed long-term, could enhance a pokémon's talent!

Market prices varied slightly, ranging from tens of yuan to millions, a huge difference.

Lin Zhi roughly calculated his current harvest, which was barely over 1000 yuan at most.

The rustling of flowers, grass, and trees in the wind made Lin Zhi aware, and he looked up with sharp eyes:

"Oh?

After traveling for so long, I finally encountered a fellow worth noticing."

"Caw!..."

The light overhead was obscured by a layer of grey, accompanied by a sharp bird cry!

In an instant, Lin Zhi rolled violently onto the Ground, still clearly hearing the impact of something breaking the Ground. He propped himself up with one hand and finally saw its true form.

It was a Fearow!

pokémon: Fearow

Level: High-tier Elite Level

Talent: Yellow

Attributes: Normal, Flying

Ability: Keen Eye

Learned Skills: Peck, Drill Peck, Glare, Fury Attack, Growl, Drill Peck, Fury Attack, Pursuit, Wing Attack, Quick Attack, Agility, Focus Energy, Take Down, Mirror Move.

Note: It has the stamina to fly back and forth all day with its large wings. It fights with its sharp beak.

"Drill Peck's power is decent, but the attack points are too scattered and the execution speed is too slow. It didn't make good use of the momentum from high-speed flight and dive. Unacceptable."

Calm and composed, Lin Zhi even began to critique.

Fearow and Pidgeot, as common and powerful Flying-type pokémon, are often trained by many Trainers or used as flying mounts. He had previously captured both of these pokémon, so he naturally understood Fearow's attack habits and pre-attack signs.

"Caw!..."

The Fearow, having risen back into the air, stared at the human below. The human was so oblivious to death, and the Fearow, whose temper was already exceptionally volatile, became incredibly enraged.

Its entire body shimmered brilliantly under the moonlight, its flying speed climbed to a peak, and its talons spread wide as it swooped down fiercely to attack.

Lin Zhi, facing it directly, could clearly feel the drastic changes in the surrounding airflow.

And this was the key to judging a Flying-type pokémon's attack. The weaknesses of a wild Fearow were its easy rage, neck, joints, and abdomen.

Conversely, due to its excellent stamina and bad temper, it was difficult to command unless one's strength completely overwhelmed and subdued it.

Once again, he narrowly dodged an attack. With the physical fitness of an ordinary person, it was impossible to react; he could only anticipate.

During this time, Lin Zhi struck the Fearow's relatively fragile joints with his knife. Elite Level pokémon have tough hides, and although his strength was small, the blade of the knife still caused considerable damage.

While causing it immense pain, the pre-attack signs were interrupted, leading to its furious embarrassment.

The sharp, slender beak was like a keen sword, especially dangerous in close combat. Even Lin Zhi, strong as he was, sustained several bloody cuts.

Fearow, refusing to give up, still had a fierce glint in its eyes. It landed on the Ground but flapped its wings, charging forward!

Like an unstoppable freight train, it became reckless and wild!

Left with no choice, Lin Zhi repeatedly dodged backward, his expression darkening. He no longer had the mind to continue playing around. Moreover, he noticed a large group of wild Pokémon quickly surrounding the area.

Pokémon: Spearow

Level: Normal High Rank

Talent: Orange

...Pokémon: Spearow

Level: Normal High Rank

Talent: Yellow

Beedrill and Spearow are often called 'rookie killers,' and every year they contribute significantly to the 'meaning' of the high-risk profession of a Trainer.

The reason is that they are both group-활동 creatures, extremely vengeful and ferocious.

It's not hard to guess then, that the Fearow in front of Lin Zhi was the leader of this Spearow Family.

"Caw!..."

As if in response, the Fearow's hateful gaze gradually turned smug, and it stopped its desperate close-range attacks.

Enduring the pain, it spread its wings and slowly ascended, displaying a haughty posture as if declaring the countdown to the human's death!

A dark mass surged in the sky, the sound of flapping wings accompanied by roaring bird cries, and pair after pair of blood-red eyes.

The intelligence of a pokémon is comparable to that of a child. At this moment, the spearow flock's expressions were playful, seemingly anticipating the human's breakdown and despair.

But they were destined to be disappointed!

In an instant, a majestic aura swept through, with the force of an overwhelming tide.

This was particularly terrifying in the eyes of the Fearow and the entire spearow flock!

Under instinctive fear, they lay prostrate on the Ground, unable to move!

Why? The strong do not tolerate Taunt, they had witnessed it, but no aura was as powerful as this one!

It was an unconscious instinct that made Fearow and the spearow flock act this way.

Otherwise... they would die!

"Submission is your best choice, otherwise, hmph!"

Lin Zhi's tone was calm, carelessly wiping blood from his knife, then shaking the Poké Ball in his hand, his meaning clear.

The farce should end. If you want to die, I don't mind releasing my powerful partners to finish this!

Fearow struggled to lift its head and gaze at the majestic figure. It then lowered its head again, unable to fathom this human.

Too terrifying! The powerful aura was even more terrifying than the forest's overlord personally arriving!

The law of the jungle and the harsh living environment meant that Fearow and its Family never doubted that the man was bluffing. How could that be?!

Aura does not lie!

As for the lack of oppressive pressure, perhaps this human powerhouse was kind... Besides, dared they gamble?

If they lost, it would be their lives!

Therefore, it felt no shame at all; in fact, merely in thought, it already considered it an honor to be under such a powerful individual.

"Bang—"

Without hesitation, a new red and white Poké Ball appeared. Lin Zhi accurately struck the Fearow, and the emitted red light drew it inside.

"Thump! Thump! Bang—"

It showed a successful capture. He slowly walked over, squatted down to pick it up, and then threw it out.

Fearow reappeared. Although the man's aura had receded, it seemed to have regained the prestige of the spearow flock's leader.

But the only difference was its respect and fawning towards the human in front of it.

Scanning the number of Spearow, this group was relatively small, only about twenty. Lin Zhi estimated their value to be over one hundred thousand.

Not a single one had run away; the lingering fear they felt moments ago had deeply intimidated them.

He gave Fearow a look, and the latter complied, circling once in the air. This Family still obeyed it, which confirmed Lin Zhi's guess.

This was mainly due to the aura. In normal circumstances, if the leader were defeated, the Spearow would have long since scattered and fled during the opening.

Easy to trick!

"Good, go bring me all the treasures collected by your Family, as well as any human relics." Lin Zhi issued his first command.

Rookie killers, capable of causing even many seasoned Trainers to stumble, a spearow flock should logically possess many good things.

Wild pokémon like to attack humans, aside from animosity, because through years of conflict, they've learned that Trainers carry abundant resources: Pokémon food, berries, energy cubes, and so on.

These are all rare and valuable items!
