Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

The announcement had spread across the entire Hero Arena community like wildfire. For three days straight, every player who logged in and saw the same message flashing across their screen.

SAJA ROLE OPEN TO ALL PLAYERS WORLDWIDE

PENTAD TEAM RECRUITMENT TOURNAMENT

LAST PLAYER STANDING WINS

From rookies to legendary grinders. From unknown players to monsters of the leaderboard.

No qualifiers. No team matches. No point system. Just one brutal rule. Survive. For many players, this tournament wasn't just another event. It was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to enter the professional scene.

Today was the day the Pentad Team would choose their new Saja Role. Inside the Pentad headquarters, a massive viewing room was filled with large floating screens showing different battlefields.

Five chairs were arranged in front of the monitors. The five members of the Pentad Team sat comfortably while watching the tournament broadcast.

Each of them held tablets displaying player statistics and live data from the battlefield. But there was one limitation. They didn't know the players' real identities.

All they could see were the in-game names. And that was intentional. The tournament organizers wanted skill to decide everything not reputation.

Frollo leaned back in his chair. "Over ten thousand players registered."

Drugo whistled quietly. "That's insane."

Alex shrugged. "Well only one players in the end."

The main screen changed as the system announcement appeared. Because of the overwhelming number of players, the tournament had been divided into five separate battlefields.

Each battlefield represented a legendary map inside Hero Arena.

Only one survivor from each map would advance to the final round. The system displayed the maps one by one.

Map One (The Hunter Game)

A dense forest battlefield filled with traps, cliffs, and hidden beasts. Perfect for hunters and ambush specialists.

Map Two (The Shinigami)

A cursed graveyard filled with fog, broken temples, and wandering spirits. Stealth fighters thrived here.

Map Three (The Saja)

A chaotic battlefield of ruined cities and burning towers. This map demanded aggression and fast decision-making.

Map Four (The Reaper)

A wasteland filled with sharp rock formations and narrow passages where every encounter turned into a deadly duel.

Map Five (Thanatos)

The largest and most brutal battlefield. Lava rivers, collapsing platforms, and giant monsters roaming the map. Only the most adaptable players could survive there.

The tournament rule was simple. In each map, hundreds of players would fight until only one person remained alive. Those five survivors would then enter the final match.

And in that final battle they would kill each other until only one player remained standing. That player would become the new Saja Role of the Pentad Team.

Mikael crossed his arms while looking at the monitors. "Let's see if the rumors are true."

Saja nodded. "You mean those two?"

On the screen, the player list appeared.

Two names immediately caught everyone's attention.

Marauder and Serpent.

Even before the battles started, their reputations had already spread across the competitive community.

Marauder was known for overwhelming power and insane kill counts in ranked matches.

Serpent was a ghost in the shadows fast, precise, and nearly impossible to track.

Many people watching the livestream already believed the result was obvious.

The Saja Role would belong to one of those two.

The countdown for all five battlefields began simultaneously. Players appeared across the different maps. Hundreds in each arena. Weapons prepared. Skills activated. Some players were already scouting their surroundings. Others were planning immediate attacks.

Inside the Pentad viewing room, the team focused on the screens carefully.

"Watch Map Two."Alex said"Serpent is there."

Frollo pointed to a different screen.

"Marauder is on Map Four."

Meanwhile On the fifth monitor. Inside Thanatos Map. A player named Phoenix stood near the edge of a jungle cliff. Berley adjusted his sitting position on the couch.

"Ang laki naman ng map na 'to."

His character looked around the volcanic landscape. Lava rivers flowed slowly between giant black rocks. Massive monsters roamed in the distance. Berley opened the mini-map.

He spotted jungle camps nearby. "Magfafarm ako."

Across the five battlefield. Chaos erupted instantly. Players rushed each other. Explosions lit the skies. Swords clashed. Magic spells tore through the arenas.

Inside the Pentad headquarters, the monitors filled with elimination notifications. On Alex, The Reaper Map, Marauder was already charging through enemies like a tank.

The livestream chat was already exploding.

"MARAUDER IS GOING CRAZY!"

Meanwhile on Elliot, The Shinigami Map Serpent moved silently through the fog. One player stepped into the graveyard ruins. Suddenly a shadow appeared behind him.

Slash. Critical damage. Eliminated.

Serpent vanished again before anyone could react.

"SERPENT IS UNTOUCHABLE!"

"THE FINAL IS OBVIOUS!"

Meanwhile on Drugo, Thanatos Map. Berley calmly attacked a jungle monster. Slash. The creature collapsed. Gold coins appeared.

"Nice." He collected them.

In the distance, explosions shook the battlefield as players fought each other.

Berley glanced at the map. "Huwag niyo akong isali sa away niyong dalawa."

He walked deeper into the jungle.

"Bahala kayo. Magfa-farm muna ako."

Back inside the Pentad viewing room, Frollo noticed something strange on the Drugo screen.

"Who's this Phoenix guy?"

Saja leaned closer. "Zero kills?"

They watched his character farming monsters peacefully.

Mikael suddenly burst out laughing. "Wait... seriously?" He leaned back on his chair, shaking his head. "Did he misunderstand the tournament?"

Saja crossed his arms while watching the screen. "Or maybe he's hiding."

Mikael smirked. "Either way, he's not surviving long once someone finds him."

They shrugged and returned their attention to the other screens. After all the real monsters were already fighting.

Hours passed. Players dropped one by one across the five maps. Hundreds became dozens. Dozens became ten. Then five. Then three. Eventually each battlefield reached its final moment.

On Alex, The Reaper Map, the battlefield had already turned into a massacre.

Marauder stood at the center of broken stone pillars, surrounded by defeated players.

His massive twin axes were glowing red from repeated skill activations. Another player rushed toward him desperately.

Marauder laughed loudly. "Come!"

The player attacked. Marauder swung once. CRASH. The enemy's HP bar disappeared instantly.

ELIMINATED

The kill counter flashed again. Marauder 39 Kills

Mikael whistled while watching the screen. "Now that's a Saja candidate."

Meanwhile, on Elliot, The Shinigami Map, Serpent was moving through the fog like a ghost. Two players were fighting near a ruined shrine. Neither of them noticed the shadow behind them.

Serpent appeared. One quick strike.

Then another. Both players collapsed almost simultaneously.

DOUBLE ELIMINATION.

The kill feed flashed again. Serpent 41 Kills

Elliot nodded slowly. "Clean."

Hours passed. Across the five maps, the chaos slowly began to settle. Hundreds of players became dozens. Dozens became ten. The arenas were shrinking, forcing survivors closer together. Fights became more intense. More desperate. On every map, the remaining players were now the strongest ones left. Inside the Pentad viewing room, the team watched carefully. This was the stage where real skill started to show.

Dozens became five. Then three.

Then finally each battlefield reached its final confrontation. The system announcements echoed across the servers one by one.

Five players emerged as survivors. The finalists of the Saja Role Tournament. The names appeared on the central screen. Among them were the two names everyone expected.

Marauder and Serpent.

The Pentad team nodded slightly. "That was obvious."

"Those two were never going to lose their maps."

But then another name appeared on the list.

Phoenix

Mikael raised an eyebrow. "That farmer again."

Saja chuckled. "He actually survived."

Alex looked at the statistics beside the name. "Still zero kills."

The room went quiet for a moment.

Then Drugo laughed. "Unbelievable. He reached the finals without killing anyone."

Saja leaned back in his chair. "Well..."

His eyes remained on the screen. "Luck can only carry you so far."

Far away from the professional headquarter. Inside a quiet living room

Berley stretched his arms lazily. He cracked his neck and looked back at the monitor. The victory screen from his match was still glowing.

WINNER PHOENIX

He blinked. "Hala." He leaned closer to the screen. "Nanalo ako?"

Then he started laughing. "Eh kasi naman"

He grabbed a drink from the table. "Puro patayan sila."

On the screen, a new message appeared.

FINAL ROUND PREPARING. Berley tilted his head. "May next round pa?"

He read the instructions carefully. Five players. One arena. Last man standing.

The winner becomes the new Saja Role of the Pentad Team.

Berley leaned back in his chair again. He stretched lazily. "Kapagod naman nito."

Inside the Pentad headquarters, the atmosphere inside the viewing room had completely changed.

Earlier, the team had been casually watching different matches across multiple screens. Now, all five large monitors had merged into one massive central display.

The Final Arena. The five remaining players stood in different corners of the battlefield.

Broken stone platforms surrounded by dark fog formed the arena. Tall ruined pillars cast long shadows across the ground, while the center area remained completely open. There would be nowhere to hide. This map was designed for one purpose.

A final slaughter.

Drugo leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "This should be interesting."

Alex crossed his arms quietly. "All five of them survived their maps."

Frollo stared at the player names displayed beside the screen. "Let's see who deserves the role."

Mikael glanced at one particular name again.

Phoenix.

Still the only finalist with zero kills recorded.

Mikael muttered quietly. "How did this guy even get here"

The system countdown echoed across the arena. The five players remained motionless, watching each other. Marauder rotated his character slightly, already scanning the battlefield. Serpent stood silently on the opposite side, waiting. Two other players shifted nervously, preparing their skills. Phoenix stood near a broken pillar. His character turned slowly as if looking around.

Inside his living room, Berley yawned.

"Nakaka pressure."

The Pentad team focused on the screen.

Everyone knew what was coming. The tension grew heavier.

START

The silence shattered the moment the match began. One of the finalists dashed forward immediately, attempting to secure the center of the arena before anyone else could claim the position.

The strategy wasn't bad. Controlling the center meant controlling vision, movement, and potential escape routes. But he didn't even reach halfway. A massive armored figure suddenly burst out from the side like a charging beast.

Marauder.

His character slammed forward with terrifying speed, twin axes raised high above his head. The weapon crashed down with brutal force.

The impact shook the ground. The player's HP bar plummeted instantly, dropping to a dangerously low level but not enough to finish him.

The injured player stumbled backward, barely alive. Marauder threw his head back and laughed loudly. "Obob!"

The crowd watching the livestream erupted immediately.

"OH MY GOD!"

"MARAUDER JUST DESTROYED HIM!"

"He almost got one-shotted!"

The injured player panicked and quickly activated a defensive skill. A faint barrier flickered around his character as he turned and ran, desperately trying to create distance from the terrifying warrior chasing him.

For a moment, it looked like he might escape. But before anyone could react a shadow slipped through the battlefield.

It moved across the stone floor like smoke, unnoticed by the injured player who was too busy running for his life.

Then suddenly Serpent appeared. Right behind him. His dagger flashed once in the dim arena light. A clean, precise strike. The injured player froze mid-step. His HP bar vanished instantly.

ELIMINATED

The system notification flashed across the screen. The player's body collapsed onto the stone floor. For a brief moment, the arena fell quiet. Then the livestream exploded again.

"SERPENT STOLE THE KILL!"

"THAT WAS SO CLEAN!"

"WHAT TIMING!"

"HE JUST FINISHED MARAUDER'S TARGET!"

Serpent calmly flicked his dagger, as if shaking off invisible blood.

"One down, three to go" he muttered softly.

Across the arena, Marauder stopped walking. His character slowly turned toward Serpent. The laughter from earlier had disappeared.

Now his expression was different. Annoyed. His grip on the axes tightened.

"You stole it!"

Serpent didn't even look impressed. He simply glanced at the eliminated player's position before turning his attention back to Marauder.

Marauder's temper ignited instantly. His character slammed an axe into the ground, sending small cracks across the stone floor.

Inside the Pentad viewing room, Drugo grinned widely. "Oh no..."

Alex leaned forward slightly. "Now that's interesting."

Frollo crossed his arms while watching the screen carefully. "Two predators competing for the spotlight."

On the battlefield, Marauder cracked his neck. He slowly raised both axes again.

"Fine, then let's see who deserves it."

Serpent twirled his dagger between his fingers. "Gladly."

The tension between the two players grew heavier with every passing second. Neither of them noticed something else or rather someone else.

Near one of the broken pillars, a quiet character was standing still.

Phoenix.

Berley scratched his head while looking at the screen. He grabbed another chip from the bag beside him and crunched it loudly. "Ang intense nila!"

On the monitor, the two strongest players in the arena had already begun clashing again.

Axes and daggers collided repeatedly, sending sparks flying across the ruined battlefield.

Berley shook his head while chewing. "Mga hambog naman."

While Serpent and Marauder were fully focused on tearing each other apart at the center of the arena, the fourth remaining player had been quietly observing the battlefield from a distance.

Unlike the others, he wasn't interested in charging straight into those monsters.

His eyes moved across the map. Looking. Searching. Then he noticed something strange.

Near one of the broken pillars. A player was standing there. Not moving. Not attacking. Not even trying to hide. Just watching. The name above the character appeared clearly.

Phoenix

The player frowned slightly. "That guy..."

He opened the statistics panel quickly.

Kills: 0

The player smirked. "So that's the lucky idiot who made it to the finals."

From his perspective, the situation was obvious. Two monsters were fighting each other. That meant the third player would become the easiest target. And Phoenix looked exactly like that. An easy kill.

Inside the Pentad viewing room, Drugo noticed the movement first. He pointed at the screen. "Hmm. Looks like someone finally noticed the farmer."

Saja watched carefully. "Let's see what Phoenix does."

Alex shrugged. "If he runs, at least he has some survival instinct."

Back in the arena, the fourth player quietly moved across the battlefield. He stayed behind ruined pillars and broken walls to avoid the attention of Marauder and Serpent.

Step by step. Closer. Closer. Phoenix still hadn't moved. Still standing there. Watching the fight like a spectator.

The player grinned. "Free kill."

He activated a movement skill. His character suddenly dashed forward, weapon glowing with a charged attack.

The distance between them disappeared instantly.

From Phoenix's perspective the enemy suddenly appeared right in front of him.

Back in his living room, Berley blinked. He quickly sat up. "Lumalapit ang palay sa manok"

The enemy player swung his weapon immediately. A fast combo attack aimed straight at Phoenix.

SLASH.

The first hit landed. Phoenix's HP bar dropped slightly. The attacker smirked.

"Told you. You're the weakest here."

He raised his weapon again for the second strike. But this time Phoenix moved. Berley's fingers tapped the keyboard casually. His character stepped sideways at the exact moment the second attack came down. The blade missed completely. The attacker froze for a moment.

"Huh?"

Phoenix suddenly counterattacked.

One clean strike. CLANG. The attacker blocked it, but the impact pushed him backward slightly.

His eyes narrowed. "So you can fight."

Berley scratched his head again while watching the screen. He sighed. "Akala ko manonood lang ako."

Behind Phoenix, the massive explosions from Marauder and Serpent's battle continued shaking the arena. Neither of the monsters had noticed the smaller fight happening nearby. The attacker charged again.

Phoenix dodged. Another attack. Another dodge. Inside the Pentad viewing room,

Saja suddenly leaned forward. "Wait."

Frollo narrowed his eyes. "His movement..."

Mikael stopped smiling. "That's not beginner movement."

Back in the arena, the attacker finally grew impatient. "Stop running!"

He activated his ultimate skill. His weapon began glowing brightly as he lunged forward with a powerful finishing attack. Phoenix didn't dodge this time. Instead Berley pressed one key. Phoenix stepped inside the attack range.

Too close.

The enemy's strike missed its optimal hit zone. Before he could react Phoenix's weapon flashed. One precise hit.

Then another. The attacker's HP bar dropped instantly to zero.

ELIMINATED

Inside the Pentad viewing room, the atmosphere suddenly shifted. For a few seconds, none of them spoke.

Drugo blinked, still staring at the screen.

"What?"

Alex slowly shook his head, a grin forming on his face. "That was wow."

Mikael leaned forward toward the monitor, eyes narrowing as he replayed the short exchange in his mind. "So the farmer can fight after all."

Saja crossed his arms, studying the movement Phoenix made earlier. "That wasn't panic movement."

Frollo nodded slightly. "He waited for the attack to commit then stepped inside the range."

Saja chuckled. "Smart."

Mikael tapped the armrest of his chair. "Either he got lucky..."

He paused for a moment, watching Phoenix's character calmly standing again near the pillar. "Or he's been hiding his skill this whole time."

The room grew quiet again as their eyes returned to the center battlefield.

Because the real monsters were still fighting.

Back in his living room, Berley leaned back comfortably again. He reached into the chip bag and grabbed another handful. "Ang kulit eh. Nanahimik ako dito."

He shook his head while chewing. "Nanggulo pa."

Then he chuckled quietly and glanced at his internet connection icon at the corner of the screen. "Good thing malakas net ko."

He stretched his arms lazily again before focusing back on the arena. At the center of the battlefield...

The fight between Marauder and Serpent had escalated even further. Stone pillars were already broken from their repeated clashes. The ground itself was cracked from heavy impacts. Marauder swung his axes with terrifying strength, each strike capable of ending the fight instantly if it landed.

Serpent moved like a phantom, dodging and counterattacking with precise, surgical strikes. Neither of them noticed that another player had already been eliminated.

They were too focused on each other. Too focused on proving who was stronger.

Inside the Pentad viewing room, Mikael nodded slowly. "This is the fight we expected."

Alex leaned back in his chair. "They're both monsters."

On the battlefield, Serpent dashed forward again, his dagger glowing as he activated another skill.

Marauder roared and countered with a spinning axe attack. The impact sent shockwaves across the arena floor.

Both health bars dropped further.

Serpent 32% HP

Marauder 29 HP

Neither one backed down.

Meanwhile near the broken pillar. Phoenix was just standing there again. Watching.

Back in his living room, Berley tilted his head slightly as he watched their HP bars slowly dropping. "Dalawa na lang pala sila."

He took another chip. Crunch. Then he smiled a little. "Kayo muna."

He leaned back even deeper in his chair. "Napagod ako doon."

On the battlefield, the two monsters continued tearing the arena apart.

Neither Marauder nor Serpent realized something important. While they were exhausting themselves in a brutal duel...

A quiet player named Phoenix was still standing.

Still watching. Still waiting.

Inside the Pentad viewing room, no one spoke anymore. All five members watched the screen closely.

Saja leaned forward slightly. "This is the final moment."

Mikael nodded. "One mistake decides everything now."

On the battlefield, both fighters were clearly reaching their limits.

Marauder 12% HP

Serpent 9% HP

Breathing space no longer existed between them. Serpent suddenly vanished again, activating one of his fastest dash skills. His figure blurred across the battlefield like a streak of shadow.

Marauder roared and swung both axes in a wide arc. But Serpent was already behind him. His dagger glowed with deadly energy.

One final strike. SHINK. The blade pierced through Marauder's defense. For a moment everything froze. Then Marauder's HP bar dropped to zero.

ELIMINATED

Serpent stood in the center of the battlefield, breathing heavily. His HP bar was barely visible.

2% HP

But it didn't matter. He had defeated Marauder. He had won. At least that's what everyone thought. But before he could even celebrate, a sharp whistling sound cut through the arena.

Serpent's eyes snapped toward the source, but it was too late. A slender, glowing arrow-like blade streaked across the battlefield with terrifying speed, slicing through the air like lightning.

It struck Serpent squarely in the chest. His character froze mid-step, a tiny flicker of shock crossing his expression. The HP bar that had been clinging to life disappeared instantly.

ELIMINATED

The arena went completely silent for a heartbeat. Then the system announcement glowed across the screen:

WINNER PHOENIX

Inside the Pentad viewing room, the five members were frozen in disbelief.

Drugo's mouth hung open. "What just happened?"

Alex leaned forward so fast he almost fell out of his chair. "That that wasn't supposed to happen!"

Mikael's hands gripped the desk. "So the farmer he actually waited for the perfect moment?"

Saja shook his head slowly, eyes fixed on the monitor. "The quiet one calculated everything. He didn't fight until the right opportunity came."

Frollo exhaled slowly, leaning back. "Not luck. Skill. Patience. That's strategy."

Back in his living room, Berley leaned back even further, a chip dangling between his fingers.

He blinked at the screen. "Panalo?

He tilted his head, trying to process what just happened. Then he laughed softly. "Chamba"

He crunched the chip in his mouth."

His grin widened. "It means I'm the new Saja? ."

The camera in the arena slowly panned to Phoenix's character standing alone amidst the broken pillars and shattered battlefield.

The last man standing. The new Saja Role for the Pentad Team. PHOENIX
