Chapter 1 - Assault

Darkness, and screams.

Some are shouts, some are loud cries, some soft.

Other just have sobs, some, lamentations.

I stood there, hearing all the noises, but not seeing any.

Darkness covers my eyes, and my mind is swimming with thoughts of....

BANG!

A large foot stomped on ny body, pinning it to the ground. I tried to squirm, but all the strength left my body when I heard his voice.

"Welcome, to my world."

His voice was hoarse, but deep and eerie.

Like the sound of metal scraping, the voice etched to my soul as pain surged through my body.

Who is this? Why am I here? Am I ...?

These questions came to my head as my body began to numb and I felt my breathing grew weak.

"Pitiful."

I heard it loud and clear, as my bones started to reform, and my blood started to flow back to my body.

My lungs who stopped inhaling started pumping in rush, as air went in.

But the comfort was not there.

The bones that were broken sting like it was broken again. The more painful thing is the itch coming from the broken bones as they reconnect.

It is like I am in a kind of drug that heightens my senses as all of my body began to heat up.

My torn muscles started to beat like a heart, as they began to greedily absorb nutrients and reform themselves.

The air that was once refreshing to breathe in now cooked my lungs, as it was like boiling water poured directly to it.

My hair started growing out, from my head, beard and mustache, and it itched ao much that I had to scratch it so much.

I also tried to pull away some strands, but it made me regret it the next moment.

The place where the hair was pulled out, began growing new ones, which made it itchy and painful at the same time.

Each scratch only resulted to more itch, and more pain.

The pain felt like eternal as my hair started to grow more and more until it came to a halt.

I saw my hair grew white, my body grew thin, my skin grew plae and my face went saggy.

But all of a sudden, it all came back to normal, which made another series of pain and cries from me.

Now I know.

Now I know why those people in my vicinity were screaming like this.

They were also experiencing what I experienced.

That was when I noticed someone.

Step.

Steps coming towards me.

Instinctively, I tried to flee, but all I met in this dark place is a solid wall.

The darkness consumes my sanity, but also my physical capabilities.

Hope. Lost.

Despair. Gained.

My whole body is filed with fear as the steps came closer to me.

It was gradual. Slow.

But definite.

It's there.

And it's coming towards me.

Each step is killing my mind.

Any second now, he will arrive.

One step.

Two step.

Three steps.

It came gradually.

Slowly.

It's there.

It's there.

Its there.

It's here.

It's here.

It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here. It's here.

"Sigh, is that you?"

The voice said as it sounded amused.

"What?"

I asked as I felt that the voice was a little disappointed.

He then stepped towards me.

"STOP. WAIT! WHO ARE YOU?!"

I said as I sat down the corner of the room.

"Me?"

He said as he appeared before me.

What I saw was something I didn't expect.

What was in front of me is akin to a mannequin.

His face is blank, and his body convulsed and sometimes changes proportions from time to time.

"Who do you see?"

He said as he stared at me, or should I say, faced me.

It was so close that I forgot to breathe.

But what caught my fear was not his closeness, but the fact that his face holds nothing.

"What?"

I felt the confusion in his voice, but his face did not move, nor change.

It is like a mannequin with maneuvers, but without the minute changes.

He then stepped again towards me, but closer this time.

"Who do you see?"

He said. The voice was there, but the mouth was not.

I panicked. My mind raced.

I don't see anyone.

And even if I do, I don't....

Then again, another sharp sound rang in my head, like a needle being struck inside.

Suddenly, a hand gripped my neck as it forced me to the wall.

"Who.."

He said as he lifted me up.

".. am I to you?"

I gripped his hand and pushed myself up to catch my breath. I tried to forced my way out but to no avail.

All I can do is look down at him, and look closely.

But again.

"Fa..ce..less."

I uttered as I fought for my freedom from his grasp.

But all efforts was made nonsense as he released me.

No. More like he found me like a trash. And he just dumped me.

Coughing, I tried to gasp air, and was successful in doing so.

"Faceless, huh?"

He said as he laughed.

"Amusing boy."

He said as he pulled my hair, nearly dragging me.

I tried to resist, but I was powerless to do so. So, I just let him take me.

He then threw me again, but this time, there was no wall.

"You said I was faceless, right?"

He said, as he put his hand on his chin, like a kid looking at his new toy.

"Yes, and?"

I said, confused, tired and still groaning from the pain.

My body may have been able to forget, but my brain is not.

"Let's play a game."
