Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 : Coffee After the Rain

That evening, dark clouds slowly covered the sky above the city. The wind grew stronger, and soon the soft sound of rain began tapping against the library windows.

Most visitors quickly packed their things and left before the rain became heavier. Within minutes, the library became almost empty.

Laila stood near the entrance, watching the rain fall outside.

"I didn't bring an umbrella," she whispered to herself.

Behind her, Adam closed his notebook and looked toward the window.

"Looks like the rain isn't stopping anytime soon," he said.

Laila turned and smiled politely. "I guess I'll have to wait."

Adam stood up and walked closer to the window. The rain was falling harder now, covering the streets in silver reflections.

"Or," he said after a moment, "we could go get some coffee while we wait."

Laila looked at him with surprise.

"Coffee?"

"There's a small café just across the street," Adam explained. "They make the best coffee in the neighborhood."

For a moment, Laila hesitated. She had never really spent time with him outside the library.

But something about the idea felt strangely exciting.

"Alright," she said finally. "Why not?"

They ran across the street together, trying not to get too wet in the rain. By the time they reached the café, they were both laughing.

Inside, the warm smell of coffee filled the air.

They sat near the window while the rain continued falling outside.

Adam ordered two cups of coffee and placed one gently in front of Laila.

"So," he said with a small smile, "tell me something about yourself."

Laila looked at the cup in her hands, thinking for a moment.

"Well," she said softly, "I moved here to start over."

Adam didn't interrupt. He simply listened.

"And you?" she asked.

Adam looked outside at the rain before answering.

"I came here to write a story," he said quietly.

Laila smiled.

"Maybe the city will give you inspiration."

Adam looked back at her.

"Maybe it already has."

For a brief moment, the world outside seemed to disappear.

The rain kept falling, but inside the small café, a quiet connection between two hearts was slowly beginning to grow.
