Chapter 4 - Sage tells everything

The group return to their settlement in far north.

Technically, far north is a dangerous place where no human ever goes, due the place no just being frozen by also inhabitated by all sorts of monstrosities, yet many elves, dwarves, gnomes and even halfings dare to go there, where no human will ever set foot to.

Thanks to elven sages' generosity, they agreed to help every non-humans to create their settlements in north, there are countless settlement built in north, each with wards placed by sages to drive away weaker monsters, though stronger monster can bypass it, which is why the sages gave an artifact to every settlement that release a distress signal, if their settlement is ever attacked.

The settlement Anrai and his aides belong to, is one of elven settlement that require no distress signal artifact, as sages are of elven race and live with them.

You are back, Anrai, whsat about monster survey? I hope there is any possibility of a tidal wave that could attack the settlement.

{In elder speech} There is no possibility of monster tidal wave.

{In elder speech} That's good news.

{In elder speech} However...

{In elder speech} However, what?

{In elder speech} I saw human in northwest from here.

{In elder speech} *Shocked* Humans? Here? Can't they even leave us in far north as well?!

The other elves are also shocked and disgusted that humans won't leave them alone even in far north.

{In elder speech} These aren't ordinary humans, they are completely different from what we saw in past.

{In elder speech} He is right, he all saw it, from distance thanks to knowing one's magic we saw everything.

{In elder speech} They are wearing strange clothes, they create a strange dome, whose purpose we don't know, they came from ships made not from wood but of iron.

{In elder speech} And their soldiers used strange weapon that look like crossbow which is very loud but also very lethal to monsters, and they don't need to load the projectiles again until they shoot a couple of them.

{In elder speech} They also use strange artifact for mining the ores, instead of just using pickaxe. A single of them doing the works of many dwarves combined.

{In elder speech} He also saw them building the building very fast, using a strange vehicle that rather than transporting people, it do the work building.

{In elder speech} And those vehicle don't need to be pulled by beast, they move by it's own.

{In elder speech} Magic?

{In elder speech} Sadly no, I send sense no chaos from the vehicle artifact. By the way they are mining for ores and...

{In elder speech} And?

{In elder speech} They are mining a strange black sludge, I don't what's it's purpose is, but it seemed very valuable to those humans, they also mined strange material that emit unknown but violent energy, which is perhaps why they wear protective dresses and created the dome to prevent the energy released from that thing.

{In elder speech} Is that some kind of cursed magical things.

{In elder speech} No, the energy is that of natural force not supernatural force, though it is certainly harmful.

{In elder speech} By the way they mined every type of ore, not just the useful ones, but even the ones that even a dwarf will discard as junk, yet they treat it as precious resource.

{In elder speech} Are they resource blind or what?

{In elder speech} Who knows, by the way their buildings are solid, as if made of stone, though it is not stone, but it become hard really quick.

{In elder speech} Say what?!

{In elder speech} He is right, they used stange blocked and quick drying grey paste.

{In elder speech} They really sound different from humans we know, but I cannot say they might be different from human we met previously.

{In elder speech} By the way, we discovered something more about these humans that make them different from the humans we knew at biological level.

{In elder speech} Biological level?

{In elder speech} These human possess different biology from the humans we knew, their physiology is superior, which I suspect might provide them better resilence to plague, but also greater stamina and physical prowess, their brains seemed better even than an hill folk elves, perhaps they might even rival alder folk elves in terms of intelligence.

{In elder speech} Does that mean they are more intelligent, if so, it might explain their strange artifacts and buildings.

{In elder speech} In fact those with stronger sense can even sense chaos, after all one of them felt accurate gut feelings when I used magic to spy on them from distance, though his companion assumed his is hallucinating and took him for a drink.

{In elder speech} So all of them can sense the elven magic?!

{In elder speech} I said those with strong sense, as his companion while sharing same biology as him, couldn't sense anything.

{In elder speech} I guess they might be distance cousins of human we know, which might explain slight difference in biology, it is same for us and alder folks.

{In elder speech} Their bodies are devoid of any chaotic energy, meaning none of them could awake a source, meaning no sorcerer from them.

{In elder speech} That's a great news, if they have no innate talent in spells, then, that reduce our fears.

{In elder speech} Theres's one more thing, their aura is different, unlike our aura and aura of human we knew which has no harmony with this borld as both us and humans we knew are aliens to world, their aura works in complete harmony with this world, the same thing that is seen with dwarves, gnomes and halflings who are true native of this world.

{In elder speech} *Shocked* That's impossible! The humans atre clearly invasive species from another world! Are you saying these humans are unlike the one we knew are native to this world? Just like dwarves, gnomes and halflings?

{In elder speech} That's what I found, there's no way the aura of an alien race would work in harmony with this world, unless they are natives.

The words of sage is like a psychological blow to elves, the elves who were feeling disgusted now feel panic, they knew humans as alien invasive race, the idea of the humans that are truly native is horrific possibility, they won't mind facing the invasive human, but native human is different story, meaning that they might face not an invader but one of the true owner of the world that elves occupied, just thinking about it scares the elves as their opponent is not outsider but an one the races that rightfully owned this world.
