Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The White Void

As my dagger settled into the Code's core, time stopped. There was no sound, no air, no tower. The space turned into absolute white emptiness, like a blank page awaiting its first word.

I dropped to my knees, breathing raggedly. I looked around; Kai (the Dark Hero) stood beside me, no longer in blood-stained black armor. He wore plain clothes, like the aura around him had evaporated.

"Did... did we do it?" Kai asked softly, staring at his shaking hands.

I couldn't answer. A final message appeared, not blue but gold:

[Congratulations: "Author's Script" destroyed.]

[Phase 2: Open World.]

[Warning: No scripts remain. Every step you take will shape your fate and the world's.]

The ground—or reality—shuddered. The world refilled with color, but these weren't the novel's dull hues—they were sharp, vivid. I heard birds, felt a breeze; the world was alive.

But there was a problem.

A giant gate opened in the sky. An army of "Reviewers" emerged—not characters I knew, but modified versions of heroes from other novels. The system had sent a "Rapid Response Team" to fix our glitch.

"You!" the lead Reviewer shouted, pointing a sword flashing with endless lightning. "You collapsed the system. You and your friend will be erased from literary history!"

Kai looked at me, a strange smile on his face. "Looks like things are just starting, friend. Ready to be the main character… or run?"

I stood, drawing my dagger, now glowing gold.

"I'm not running," I said, taking a fighting stance. "I'm just tuning the beat."
